1500W is way above our legal limit of 400W! There are a few in this region who 'homebrew' and sell linear amplifiers within our legal limit. But last time when I checked, they had stopped. So I am left with my '100W and wire'! 73 de Jon, VU2JO
Hope the newer ones are improved. Just in my old club they had 3 out of 5 1.3 amps fail with power supply issues. They got them fixed for big $$ and are currently selling them to replace Expert with a more reliable brand. I noticed lots of the older models for sale in the last 1-2 years “fresh checked after service” and know why they were in service and why people sell them.
I think MTC should also take over production of MFJ about 400 miles from Starkville MS about 7 hours drive ? , here in Orange County CA labour cost is too high. AG6JU
@@HamRadio2MFJ will be like IVES Trains when it went belly up in the 1920's. American Flyer and Lionel took the parts of Ives they wanted. I think think parts of MFJ will be sold off to others. Cushcraft should be a plum for somebody somewhere for example.
My XYL thinks that a HT costs too much. Hey, honey, I just bought a $6000 amp, now I need to upgrade my antenna! She would fry my finals and QRT my soul. And credit card... Thanks for the video, 73, KF0NNQ.
This fellow sounds like, I love this Ham Radio Stuff, that this is New to him? Anyway, I have mixed opinions on the Expert Amps. I had one, Blew the Finals the first week I had it. They sent me another one, and Blew those Finals. I would never own one. I hope the issues are resolved... But when you have a bad experience, you stay away.
They are expensive looking at the price, but I believe they are a good value for what you get with the built-in tuner, multi antenna ports, & etc. You get what you pay for, IMO.
@@KA5IVR Hopefully this is an investment for life. Some buy a sports car or a boat. Others get top radio gear that will last a long time. The Taurus will be spot on for my needs, but I will have to save up some money first :P
Amps like most ham radios are too expensive for most. Economy is bad and most live payday to payday. Bad business idea to sell items too expensive for the population. The goal of any business is to have lots of sells not a few here or there. 🤷♂️
