I skipped ahead as the video started, heard Tobias voice and recognised him from those history movie reaction videos, and went back to watch the video fully. Love that guy.

Always good to see Dr. Capwell - especially in his 'natural environment'! For any who are not aware Dr. Capwell is himself an experienced practioner of Medieval combat both on horse and foot so he has insight not usually found in academics.

Imagine showing up to the joust with your helmet crest being a little dude holding another, smaller helmet.

Agreed with others here, SO great to see you again Dr. Capwell, with another great video. I keep telling others that I seem to learn something interesting every day now, and the barrier combat was something I was completely unfamiliar with until you spoke of it here. I went down the Google rabbit hole on that subject, hah. Beautiful armor, I can't wait to see it in person, hopefully next year once travel is simpler (fingers crossed). Please know that many of us greatly appreciate your continued work Toby. Every time I see a new video from you and this channel, it means a happy day for me. Sincerely, thank you.

Probably I will make it next year, when I am in London. I took a flight one day early. Thank you for this great video, it was most fascinating.

Do try - I cannot recommend the Wallace Collection highly enough: Art and Furniture, Porcelain and Armour. And all FREE - there is no admission charge to the Wallace Collection (no I don't work there, like you I go as a visitor, no more)

Obviously, it is a great place. Maybe I should also pay a visit to a town I live very nearby - Nuremberg. They have nice some nice pieces of armour there, too. Or maybe a little tour around my area? As I have a somewhat more trained eye by now, I think I will look differently at what we have on offer here. I still remember my very first visit at the "Germanisches Nationalmuseum" in Nuremberg with my mum - I was six years old. She wanted me to show the wonderful Renaissance dresses presented there - but I swept right through the door, flabbergasted by the figure of the knight on his horse. We spent a good bit of time just looking at was in that part of the museum (she did not like that very much, but I fell in love). The rest is history for me (although I mainly got into the horse riding part a few years later). The armour part I only learnt in theory from several sources.

Many thanks. Good and clearly commented video. I would be interested to know how much you can still see of your opponent and your surroundings with such a helmet on your head.

Augsburg is in modern day Bavaria but it still is to the day a suabian city, so Pfeffenhauser was probably a Schwob.
