I don't know about you guys but it felt like the technical difficulties were more off the charts at the Emmys this year than ever before like when they cut off Da'Vine Joy Randolph mid intro when she was presenting and the bad or delayed audio when they presented Richard Gadd the writing award, it sounded like they couldn't figure out how to turn the mic back on.
Has a show ever won three acting awards and not series? Hope the bear will stop winning as there are way better comedies that deserve it more. Yay hacks
Better comedies..... Is "The Bear" even a comedy? It's a great show but it has always belonged in the Drama category. I have friends that can't watch it cause it makes them anxious, haha hilarious comedy. Succession made me laugh off the Charts compared to the Bear. The Sopranos and West Wing were funnier than "The Bear"
So happy for Lamorne Morris winning, last in the odds but first in the Emmy voters hearts. I got to work as a stand-in on his Hulu show Woke and he's so down to earth and kind to everyone.
i'm just gonna be honest; i personally thought jonathan bailey deserved that win and i feel like if he was a straight man playing that character he would have won. i'm not upset that lamorne won, he is great!! he absolutely deserved it as well! i just personally prefered jonathan bailey and i do believe that there is a certain thing that happens in this industry, and that thing is giving straight people awards when they're playing queer characters because they're so 'brave' when they do that, but not always giving queer people those same awards when they play queer characters. a lot of people probably disagree with me and that's fine, but this is just what it feels like to me quite often.
Hacks winning best comedy was the biggest surprise of the night and was my favorite moment! Happy for Shōgun but I am a little sad Mr and Mrs Smith was completely shut out
Also today is the 25th Anniversary of classic masterpiece American Beauty. Chris saying it now sucks is like Bill Simmons saying Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. Chris, you do not wanna keep living in denial and die on that hill.
Ray Romano was the only standup comedian to ever win an Emmy for acting in Raymond. He was playing a character not based on himself. I know Hannah E is not playing a version of herself in Hacks but that's the perception and in a system where voters don't have to watch the show I don't see her winning.
Love the Industry mention - after last night's episode I got hopeful for them next year. No idea if they'll be recognized but wow everyone really stepped it up this season. Would love to hear your thoughts on their chances after S3 finishes airing
That whole John Leguizamo presentation was so awkward and cringe, just patting himself on the back acting like his op-ed letter had any actual impact or influence on the nominees when there was always going to be people of color nominated this year. Why would they let him do that on the telecast?
Please stop saying Ebon won for Forks twice. Did you watch S1 of the Bear? His portrayal of Richie is magnificent. You sound like fans who all of a sudden only like Richie after Forks. It's almost as if you don't get nuance. And you do this for a living? Please. The reason Ebon won't win for S3 is because he doesn't have the material. The characters of Richie and Syd barely got anything in S3 to do. More specifically for Ebon, he doesn't really have an episode to submit. I'm guessing, he'd go w/2, 3, or 4. But, the materially isn't there for a him for a full episode for S3 (Which might be part of the reason the season is so weak, not going w/your strengths, one of them being Ebon).
Ebon was very good in S1 but it’s a fact that he was on the fringes of even a nomination before “Forks,” at least according to the odds. The episode absolutely pushed him over the top for S1, much like “Rainbows” helped Brett Goldstein separate from the “Ted Lasso” pack in Season 1.
Shocking win? Yeah if an actual comedy show winning Best Comedy is now considered shocking in the era of the producers of The Bear fraudulently categorizing their show as a comedy. How can they enjoy their awards?
