4:53 - I hereby declare the modi government as the best government...in marketing. another great example of how good they are at marketing is, when, during up elections '22, they gave free rations - they had the faces of both pm modi & cm yogi on the packets making people realize that who were the primary reason for them to get it. see, there’s nothing wrong with it. the only thing is, if they are so good at this, why not work this well in case of governance?

Balance has to be maintained between welfarism and capital investment in infrastructure development. Govt. be it central or state must realise its importance as already cautioned by senior bureaucrats in PMO. Capital investment is like making money out of money. So if govt wants to expand tax base , development is necessary in infra. sector, public service sector like edu., health , human resource dev.,etc Only then we can progress slowly fulfilling everyone's needs. Govt. must also keep in mind that inequality is rising very rapidly (specially after ravaging covid19 made footfall) as top 1 % has accumulated 40% of national wealth. Equity is as necessary as growth of economy.

Most of these free things are called services which govt is supposed to provide like water, education or education scholarship, pension for elderly etc and there are some schemes like mnrega which provides employment to some rural people for working on govt construction projects instead of giving tenders for those projects. All these are services and some mandatory programs needed to lift certain specific people like ration to pregnant women before and after giving birth. Welfare schemes by state govt for free or low price education and health are needed. But these welfare schemes expenditure should be borne by the govt. In states like tamilnadu, Uttar Pradesh Andhra free scooters, refrigerator, washing machines, mobiles phones given to lure voters. How such these will improves health education ? These are freebies. Look at the power discoms dues of tamilnadu Punjab Delhi Andhra, debt to Gsdp of such states, they don't want to clear such mess which eventually at the end fall to union govt expenditure. If people have the income they can pay the bills , marginalized section need some relief. States have good share of income from Central taxes and their own tax sources. But does want to develop some basic amenities in villages . All they look at Central govt to bailout them or for development .
