So if we Indian boycott it at least it won't use our money against us. And if we create a competition of Maldives there tourism sector will get devided. Yes, China is expanding its influence in Bangladesh. But not quite in the same scale as it did in other countries. Because Bangladesh's foreign policy is "Friendship with all, malice with none." And unlike some of the countries mentioned in your comment, Bangladesh is successfully using this policy to play off almost every major regional/global power, including India & China.

Although Bangladesh exports various items, almost all of these can be produced in China at a lower cost. However, China maintains this duty-free status as a gesture of friendship/influence.

Because some of the countries in your comments (Pakistan is a different case as they have enmity with India for the last 75 years) are either trying to or have completely moved to China's influence exclusively & therefore are not maintaining or trying to maintain a balanced act by being friendly with both India & China, which Bangladesh's government has managed to do successfully. So I decided to clear this up in case someone who doesn't know the context regarding Bangladesh's relations with India & China might think (inadvertently) that even Bangladesh is dumping India for China, which is not the case , though such thoughts are not irrational given that some Indian media outlets & think tanks seemed to lose their minds a few years ago when Bangladesh Navy acquired two submarines from China. Even the Indian government was not concerned with this purchase, except for the Indian Navy as there has been cases of some Chinese submarines sneaking into Indian waters undetected & there were concerns that China might try to do it again by using these two submarines' presence to mask their (PLA Navy submarines) presence.

@@adityaraj7908The point is Maldives can never be a threat to India on its own even if it doesn't disappear, considering its size and power. But it can definitely be used by other countries (read China) against India. I think the whole point of Akash's video is that the diplomacy and people to people connection with our neighbouring countries should be improved, especially when one cannot choose his/her neighbours.
