In this video, let's explore the fundamental differences between using serverless and serverful models, how they work, and what are some practical examples of the same. I'm not even a backend developer however but he explained really well.... That's the thing I like most about codedamn.... Explanation I watched till the end
Your content is great, but please try to create nice and structured presentations. It becomes hard to analyse and think what you write on the whiteboard. It is like being inside your mind, but it is not helpful for us to understand.
I am a FE developer but not want to stick just to FE, so just gradually progressing towards full stack. Its not just about improving portfolio but building the confidence as you start to understand BE concepts which further make you feel more complete and happy. Thanks Mehul. Will be looking for more content on your YT page. btw I watched till the end.
Serverless is not bound to a server with an ip. That was very well explained. Thank you. What are the gotchas I should look out for when building a CRM + Marketing tool (emails , sms , custom domains) using a Serverless architecture
watched this video till the end, I do have some questions though ,you said the time for the serverless architecture was 20ms+500ms of boot time then it drops, So i'm confused as to what is the boot time. You said every time the server redeploys in a different computer container the environment is recreated from scratch. Is the boot time something that only happens when the server is redeployed. So randomly a user will sometimes have to wait for the server to finish getting redeployed from 0 to 500ms extra to normal. Also another question about the serverless architecture when the server is redeployed to a different container does it preserve the state of any ram data it was manipulating? Then finally in the serverless architecture is it possible to use node anyway at the expense of lengthening the time for the server to redeploy to another container. Also I find your video's are some of the most effective types in terms of actually teaching in contrast to the many random video's that feel more like attention seekers,
I may be oversimplifying this, but at this point of time with my limited scope of knowledge..... my general rule of thumb is to go server less unless you need to run a database. However if you only NEED a database (not to actually run one locally) you can use a database as a service such as Mongodb Atlas or Firebase with your server less web app. In summary, if you want to run an SQL database because you need things like range queries, you NEED a serverful application. Does anyone have a different point of view?
10:15 Great video, I think cheaper means, as a small startup you don't have to hire a team to set up and maintain things like Kubernetes & Terraform to operate on scale, developers time cost the company more than the difference between the costs of EC2 & Lambda.
Your videos are very informitive. Thanks for explaining all these technologies. I can now finally understand my organizations daily meetings to a greater level.
Both are good architectures, i think serverfull can be good option for learning load balancer and server stuff , on the other hand serverless or also good for simplicity on server side
Nicely explained however..Serverless concept is now beyond lambda.. AWS Fargate , Cockroach DB, AWS Aurora Serverless , Redshift Serverless recently was launched, AWS MSK Serverless is launched .. so the concept is gaining momentum beyond just basic compute and the cons of Serverless are being coped up slowly. .
Can you tell me if I am right? GCP App Engine is like a serverless and GCP Compute Engine is like a serverful? Also, I watched this video till the end.
Thumbnail is so good i have not seen such a fucking legend thumbnail for ages thanks to the creator of the thumbnail.....please give me his contact info :)!!
Sir, can you please make a video on how to choose hosting for next js or react app for static sites or serverless like on digital ocean or other platflorm.
In less time you have explained very well. Also made concepts clear to understand. One suggestion can you please reduce the background music or change it to some other music. Thank you
