This quick start guide explains everything about the User Interface in the new Planet Zoo Console Edition. There's a lot of information to learn when first starting Planet Zoo as a new player, my Quick Start series of videos will guide you on the basics to help you quickly learn the controls, gameplay and how to create and manage a successful zoo.

To be honest, I play Planet Zoo on PC with over 500 hours of work, and I'm still learning new things from this. That shows that this video is for everyone!🤣🤣🤣

I played Planet Zoo on PC for three years before my PC died. I couldn't play Planet Zoo forever, until now!!!

I think the User Interface is so intuitive! I prefer this one to the PC version even :D

Super excited for the console edition even though I already play it on PC. When it first came out I had a crappy PC that wouldn't play Planet Zoo or Planet Coaster with the complex frame rate needs. I spent months saving for the PC I have now that's strong enough to handle this game but would have loved to have a console alternative like I did for planet coaster. I have Planco on both console and PC and I might end up doing the same thing with Planet Zoo. I must be crazy!

I bought the all in edition and am unable to find all the extra scenarios in career mode. Anyone care to tell me where they are? 😢

I wanna tell you that all the base game except Collared Peccary(which will be added into the Console Edition in a later base game console edition), the 3 animals which is the Thompson’s Gazelle, the Komodo Dragon, the Pygmy Hippo, the Deluxe Edition for Console Edition(Which both Southeast Asia Animal Pack and Wetlands Animal Pack are the Deluxe Edition for Console Edition), and the North America and Europe Bundle(Which is the North America Animal Pack and Europe Pack) are all available in the Planet Zoo Console Edition(Except for the rest of the 12 packs I didn’t say nor mention, but will be added in the future).

is there a way to have light at night when building? i think ive seen ppl on PC use it but no idea how to do it on console

Unfortunately I don't think this is a thing in the console version. I've looked and cannot find an option for it. I believe it was originally a development tool that they kept in the game, or maybe it's an oversight on console? Agree it's still a really useful tool, so would be good if they bring it back!

Is there a way to zoom out the ui in game for consoles? Because the amount of money and credits I have, time controls, and stuff like that are all cut of my screen. You got a fix for that?

I would check your TV or console display settings-I don't play console but my laptop is 16:10 instead of 16:9 and it cuts things off sometimes.

@@sparrow838_I tried changing the screen zoom settings on the Tv and it did work. Got any other ideas?

I've heard a few people having this issue. It's to do with the display, and I think certain TVs/monitors are the wrong ratio. I initially loaded the game up on my widescreen monitor, and it stretched the game out across the screen and I couldn't change it, so I dug out an old 1080 monitor and that worked fine. Since there's no display settings, all I can recommend is logging the issue on the Frontier Issues Log - I'm sure others have also reported it, but the more people highlight it, the more invested they'll be in resolving.

How do you get the roofs to line up perfectly with walls? And then some of them go up for some reason when Im placing them along the top of the building.

They can be a bit fiddly, and yeah they do the 'go up' thing for me too. Depending if you're on keyboard & mouse or using a controller, I'd check out some more bespoke building tutorials for this

@@PlasticSwans Thank you! Also how do you build custom hard shelters? I tried to build one in the tutorial mode but the animals didnt recognize is as one so I had to place presets.

How do you calculate the size of mixed species’ habitats?

It's a guessing game for mixed species. Start with the table in the zoopedia for the species you want, add the sizes together for all the animals in the mixed habitat, and that's a good start. They usually need a little less as mixed species, but it will give a good general idea

If I buy planet zoo on my ps5 and I sign into my account that’s on computer, do I get all my dlcs and other things

Nope, they're two separate games. You could sign into your account on another PS5 and have access, but on a PC system, it won't carry over

How do you place the statf bevause it wont let me place them

Not sure what's going on to not be able to place staff - have you ran out of money? That's the only reason I can think of the game would prevent placing them, or if the complexity meter has maxed out

If i place things in each other it starts clashing and flickering, any way to stop this?

This is called z-fighting. It's a common issue for graphical stuff where if 2 things are in the exact same place the colours will fight with each other, even if it's the same colour. Only way to stop this is to slightly move one of the pieces using the advanced move tool, so it's slightly in front or behind the other piece

I’m trying to figure out how to change the language in the education board for the exhibits it doesn’t really say what animal it is it’s just a different language

It's the Planet Zoo/Planet Coaster made-up language, so you can't change this. It's the same gibberish the people in the game talk if you're up close to them. I believe it's Frontier's way with handling a global game, with players speaking many languages

While I do have this game for my PC it is starting to act up on me so got the version with season pass for our XBOX Series X can't wait to play with a controller I suck with a mouse apparently. XD

It's pretty intuitive for the controller, I sucked at Planet Coaster on console though, so haven't taken the leap just yet and so far have been using a keyboard and mouse on console

@@PlasticSwansYeah been trying it out this morning a little bit, love how the controller layout feels. Running through the campaign to practice though. Barrier editing of oh boy I remember jumping into that not knowing what I was doing the first time. XD

Well, I thought this video would be helpful because I couldn’t figure out how to place things with my controller, but you are not using a controller but a keyboard. So, despite being a well down and informative video, it might as well not be for the console edition. Most people who play on consoles don’t use their keyboards.

Never had a complaint before - it's to amplify interest, and it does work most of the time, but I've been tweaking levels lately and your comment is appreciated! I've clearly turned it up too loud

@@PlasticSwansI personally think it’s at a good level, been loving these tutorials for Xbox I was so ready to give up from being overwhelmed and these have made the game so much playable and enjoyable, had my first baby hyena and was so stoked 😂

Great videos. But until they fix it. I wouldnt recommend this game to anybody. Camera is a massive issue. Especially if you have a chance in terrain level. It gets all messed up and you have to keep spinning it to get it right every tine. And my game is glitches so the only path I can lay is the max size. Regardless if it's a new path or a connecting path. I can change length but not width. It's set to 32.8 and the adjustment slider does nothing.

I'm aware there's a path issue if you have it set to feet rather than meters. Hopefully a fix is coming soon! I also struggle with the camera on console if I'm using the controller. It sways wildly since I'm more accustomed to finer controls with a keyboard and mouse
