In this comprehensive, hour long video, Dr Newson gives a clear and detailed explanation of the menopause and the symptoms it causes, the evidence-based facts about HRT, and the alternative treatments available.
I’m crying right now because this information is SAVING MY LIFE. (I’m not exaggerating.) No doctor in the U.S. knows this information. I have been dealing with SEVERE menopausal transition symptoms for 6 1/2 years but didn’t know it was menopause. I HAD TO QUIT MY JOB! I’ve been to so many specialists. NO DOCTOR EVEN THOUGHT TO SUGGEST MENOPAUSE. I started reading the latest medical publications, taking CME classes, listening to medical podcasts. You know who final figured out my symptoms were menopause-related? M E !!! That should never happen. Now that I know WHAT is going on, I am still searching for a doctor who knows anything about HOW to help me. They don’t exist. SO, I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH. At least now, I can tell my specialists what to do. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
You have my same story as well 4 years into being sick had to quit my job and also have been diagnosed by so so many doctors with everything u can think of FINALLY I paid to have my hormones checked and well let's just say I have zero testosterone in my system my hormones were so low they hardly register at all I just started TRT 2 days ago and I'm praying for a miracle
I hope you have found a good doctor that listens. I myself still looking for one that listens and willing to manage my menopause long term. Its definitely very frustrating...
You are one amazing woman/doctor. You helped me decide to go for the HRT which I was so worried about. I have an amazing doctor who mentioned to me I am probably going through peri menopause after I thought I was going mad with all these symptoms. This was the best one hour video I watched. You have made it so easy for us poor women to understand this transition in our lives. Thank you so much xxx
This is the best video on HRT summarising all the important information every woman has to know before and entering menopause. If RU-vid wants to do good, this video has to be in the suggested videos for all women. In fact it has to be on BBC and all major channels as it contains the most up to date information on HRT and standard of care only a few women receive
After 12 years of suffering bad symptoms I have just gone onto patches and I feel marvellous, I have finally started to sleep all through the night with out being woken up with night sweats 3 to 4 times a night . I can wear ordinary clothes without having to worry about sweating with flushes during the day . I feel human again .thank you Dr Newman . When I went to the doctor years ago they just wanted me to have antidepressants !
Thank you so much for all this information, it was very helpful, I'm heading straight to your website to find out more. I'm 66 and was discouraged from taking HRT when I was actually going through the menopause because of health scares, I started taking HRT about two years ago for certain symptoms and feel so much better, I want to continue taking it for as long as I can. You are amazing, please keep up the good work.
I wasnt encouraged to go for hrt and im wondering if at 70 i could still try it. Vaginal atrophy is a huge problem to me. What happened with this for you? I wish i had a good doctor.
Life changing, I've shared with every peri and post menopausal woman I know. You are a beacon of light and hope. Thank you so much for being such an ambassador and throwing yourself into showing women there is another way through it all. x
Thank you for your work on behalf of women, and your wonderful information. I am 76 and 16 years past menopause. I have never had HRT despite having some ongoing menopausal symptoms that are not fully responsive to a variety of local treatments. I am keen to try low dose bio-identical HRT to deal with symptoms and to protect my future general health. I am very healthy but my doctor feels that since I am 16 years past menopause, I would be at risk of stroke or cardiac issues if I was to start at this stage of my life. She feels you should not start HRT when you are more than 10 years past menopause without any HRT . What has been your experience? Can you refer me to research that looks at this issue ?
dalesse I found you by accident. Had no idea there were videos on this subject. You are a Godsend! You actually help me understand all my fears of HRT and other female issues. Thank you so much for helping all of us. I am going to be very proactive to get the help I so badly need. I now understand and I feel so confident in your advice and knowledge. Bless you !!
Dr Newson thank you so much for your time and your fantastic work. Great educational video . This theme it's so important and should be widespread around the world. I don't understand how menopause is still such neglected theme. I am experiencing a great perimenopausal symptoms and till now I didn't not nothing. I wasn't informed at all during my studies at the university. Please, keep going with your great labour! You are an excellent example for another professionals. It's very nice to someone thinking out of box. Gongratulations !
Dr, Newson, first, I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers, I think you are wonderful! Second, would you consider doing a video that discusses breakthrough bleeding while on HRT? Apparently, from a Google search I did, it is a common side effect of HRT yet my doctor (and I'm sure he's not the only one) is adamant that he is going to take me off HRT if it does not stop...I do not want to go off HRT and, at least according to what I've read which admittedly is for a lay audience, it is not necessarily a reason to go off HRT...
DR Newson you are amazing! Listening to your advise makes me feel it's not the end of the world for menopausal women. I wish my dr was as warm and understanding as you. Thank you for all the info.
Dr. Newson, I want to thank you so so much for this very informative piece on HRT. I am an O&G trainee doing my final MRCOG part 3 next week and HRT management and counselling is one of my biggest down falls. After watching this video, I now feel much more equipped to deal with this topic if it comes up on the exam but more importantly I feel more confident in managing women who need HRT. Thank you so much for this wonderful teaching. It will transform my future management. Take care. xxx
Thank you so much...iv made an appointment to get HRT....I started going thru peri at 40 when the doctor took me off my contraceptive pill....and im 45 now....iv only had 1 period a year since I was 40 and symptoms have been getting worse over the last 5 years.....I really need HRT or I'm going to have bone problems soon....I can feel it in my hands....I dont want to die early just because my doc didn't tell me all this x
Thank you for your comprehensive overview on HRT. I am about 5 years passed menopause. I recently told a doctor that my facial skin had really changed in the last couple of years. They said it was due to decreased estrogen. Will taking HRT slow down the skin aging? Other than some degree of hot flashes, my symptoms have not been as disrupting as many others have reported having. Since signs of aging are not life threatening, and I wonder if the benefits of HRT out weigh the risks.
I decided the benefits would, and my skin is plumper for it. I’m quite blessed with good skin although I do itch at times, I use hyaluronic acid based oil and a good moisturiser. I find too much sugar makes me look awful, and I notice alcohol ages menopausal women hugely, no matter how much water they drink. X
I have been treated like a second class citizens. My doctor has been so awful to me I always believe doctors took an oath to protect the health of there patients not happening today I feel so abandoned 😱
In Mexico testosterone is available for woman. On the market there's this injection of 100 mg testosterone with 5 mg estradiol. Thank you very much for such valuable information.
I am new to this subset of knowledge, but I would think the RATIO might be the oppposite . . and the absolute numbers here are quite high for Testosterone (for women). Also injections provide a rapid release - NOT recommended (thus patches or creams - slow release). Gels, again, are faster releasing.... thanks!
Indeed! I am on the edge of my seat (age 62, last period age 40 - many health issues that I think could be directly related to pretty much zero estrogen/estrodial, or testosterone. Also low/no DHEA)
Im so glad I saw this video, definitely helps me with my ongoing menopause symptoms.Thank you Dr Newson for empowering women to look after themselves during this stage of life. More power to you and God bless
Dr Louise, You're a breath of fresh air!!!! Easy to understand and so guinue and supportive!! I wish you lived in Canada. Thankyou so very very much for shredding the light on such an desperately need topic for women and their overall health and well-being!!🙏🙏❤
Hi can you help , I was on patches and went up to 100 mcg I'm 56 and have mirena coil , I changed now to gel , just before starting gel i had a private finger prick blood test to check if I was on right oestrogen levels as still didn't feel quite right and it came back very very high so I repeated two weeks later and only using one pump and still very high , does it take longer than that for levels to come down ?
Thank you. I'm almost 9 years into menopause and have osteoporosis/osteopenia, controlled hypothyroid. I'd like to take HRT - is it too late?? I'm otherwie healthy.
Do I need to take progesterone with estrogen if I’ve had an endometrial abalation? I’ve tried several times to take it orally micronized 100 mg and it makes me feel unwell
Yu can try progesterone creams. The oral version is used to be sure your endometrium is protected. That does not mean the cream alternative is no good. Just go for more regular check-ups ! Good luck sister
My mom is 62. She have very dry skinn, thin hair, intensiv hair fall, skin itching, red cheeks, sometimes headache. Can you give me some tipps please what should she do get better ? Thank you.
Thanks for the talk. I'm really struggling with hot flashes, memory fogs. Headache. My Gp refused HRT. HOWEVER she wants me to have antidepressants which I refused. I asked for body identical Hrt. I have ask her to refer me to menopause clinic. I'm really struggling as I also work as a nurse which doesn't help as it's really stressful. Really need urgent help!!
Hi Dr Louise, I live in Australia and was diagnosed with breast cancer last year 90% estrogen receptor and 50% progestrone, I am 55 years of age and was on HRT prior to cancer , I was on it for 3 years, estradot plus Merina. I went through the process of chemotherapy and radiation and had double masectomy plus reconstruction. Now I am cancer free but stuggling with menopause symptoms, brain fog, irritability, joint pain, hot flushes, sleepless nights. I talked to my oncologist, gynaecologist , they wanted to prescribe me antidepressant and I refused! Some studies shows that HRT can be used in some cases after breast cancer, I find it hard to explain to Drs here and everyone is paranoid of prescribing HRT. some studies shows that last of estrogen is linked to osteoporosis ,heart problems and bone density. Could you please shine some light on the issues I mentioned?
Hello, I am on herbs for utis, but I have read that they also help menopause. Half-way through the course and I am a bit like a fire-cracker at the moment whilst the herbs settle into my body, a bit like pmt, lol. All the people who annoyed me but I never said anything to them before, are now being told! It's quite strog stuff. I wanted to avoid hrt because I read a book called The Bitter Pill by Dr Ellen Grant (1985). Herbalism, provided by a proper trained herbalist may be something to look into. Can I ask, were you on bioidentical hormones ?
I can't express my gratitude to you after listening your teaching. Fantastic information. Gp are not helpful ,a lot of women are suffering as a result of misinformation. Please more of this educative teaching. Thank you so much for opening my eyes.
This is a great video thank you so much! My questions were about periods. Will I go back to once a month periods and all the PMS symptoms severe cramps and bloating … I’m 60 yrs old. I don’t feel very well. So tired. No energy, low focus so depressed.
Thank you for your time! I am 49 and peri-menopausal. I started at 47. I am in the US and my gynecologist prescribes HRT for me. I am on a testosterone cream, estradiol 1mg pill, progesterone micro 100mg. My question is, is there a relationship between menopause and adrenal fatigue syndrome?
Just found this video after watching Davina. I'm now wondering if I have fibromyalgia at all or if my symptoms are all due to peri . Now to tackle the Bulgarian health system for hrt 🤣
Hallo, thank you for this information. I was thinking of doing hrt again. The first try I got high blood pressure and headaches. I have rheumatoid arthritis and take quite a lot of medication. Is it advices for people with ra to do hrt?
After listening to your podcasts. I was taken off HRT when the scare was on I’ve had hysterectomy I realize I should never have been taken off. When I asked my doctor to go back on HRT she said it won’t make you look any younger, I said I’m worried about osteoporosis she said she would come back to me 3 weeks later I had to phone again, then book another telephone appointment, she didn’t phone me on the day so I had to get receptionist had to remind her to phone me. She put me on Estrogen vaginal tablets, can I have HRT as well I’m 80 ? My age i think is why the doctor didn’t want to put me on HRT I dread having a hump on my back, I’m full of aches and pain please help, I only get £75 per week pension but I have saved some money to see you. 🙏😇🙏
You are by far the kindest and knowledgeable DR. I have listened to in my whole life. Honestly amazing!! I’m so sad that I can not be a patient of yours as I reside in Canada. Thank you, thank you , thank you!!!! 🙏🙏🙏👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰
Morning Young Lady 🌹! I must say this is a golden opportunity to sit in on a Alluring Platform 😊 and your Alluring Appearance 🙉 wow! I look forward to seeing more of your expertise ❓ that's if I have your permission 😂

I had been in menopause since 44, a doctor in Germany subscribed me Lafamme 1mg 2mg and that did a miracle: no more moodswings, hot flashes or weight gain, but now I am 58 and live in Egypt and this medicament does not exist here. Any advise what I could do. Hot flashes are back and worse, lack of sleep and moodswings.
Thank you very much for your videos, I am new to this world of HRT so your videos are great. There is one thing I am bit confused about. I have been prescribed Utrogestan 100mg today along with a estrogen gel. I am looking to avoid side effects from the progesterone and vaginally sounds the perfect solution, but I don't understand the dosage. I have been advised by a GP that I have to take one pill of Utrogestan a night, but you are saying that if that was causing any undesirable side effects, we could insert the same pill into our vagina but on alternate days, so do I need to take pill orally the other days? Sorry if my question sounds a but silly but as I said, I am new to this world and the GP who prescribed this to me was a man and was in a hurry, so I didn't have much time to ask and even if I had had, I didn't know you could insert this pill into your vagina. Thank you in advance!
Hello Dr Newson, do you know why a birth control pill such as Zoely would be prescribed over micronized progesterone for perimenopausal symptoms including heavy monthly bleeding due to fibroids?
Thank you Dr Newson, this is so helpful. I have only recently become aware that I am peri, but have possibly been peri for some time as last year I had painfully watering eyes, and my GP mentioned dry eye, ironically. I have been thinking that this is something all us ladies go through so I'd get through it has been so helpful to get this education on the benefits of HRT and also seeking a menopausal specialist for this part of my journey. I look forward to reviewing your other videos, podcasts and resources and will definitely be sharing this with friends. Thanks again, so worthwhile and much appreciated.
I am nearly 50 years old also I have discharge in my knickers and in my eyes I have conjunctivitis and all same sex hurt's why? I haven't had a period for over 3 years I am anxious 🫦 and depressed what do you think I need? Thank you for your help xxx
That was incredibly helpful thank you. You answered many questions and definitely clarified many huge vague confusing contradictory pieces of information. I have some questions but will check out your website and book first! :)
57 here in U.S. my mom is 89 she took I think Premarin and probers for a loooong time …I think it’s time for me to go on something …one friend on HRT loves it another was on has early dementia..BUT think it’s more genes as opposed to HRT
I need to know how to get estrogen HRT, please help me. If you have any way to point me in the right direction for help. I will do whatever you suggested. I have been operated on perhaps can work it from ovaries, and because of so many cysts only on, they took out both. I'm antibiotics sensitive to most antibiotics and am sick, sufferings in many ways. Please let me know and I will take the steps needed for my medical care without synthetic hormones as well as thyroxine for hypothyroid since prematurity birth 67 years ago. Numerous allergies to everything inside and out, and now even more in the present moment sensitive to everything 🤧 Thank you. Even your website itself
Thankyou for this information ,really really helpful . I have suffered such intense pain from hormonal migraines for over 10 years ,these have now reduced in frequency & less painful ,I have repeatedly returned to my male Gp but had no suggestion to take HRT ....I am naturally feeling very low as I have not had the help & support ,so apart from having a MRI scan ,I have had to deal with this during menopause . How do I now get an medical assessment for HRT patches ,would this help with migraine ,though I do think I am over the worse now. I am on a flesh food plant based diet . This link has been great ,very informative being knowledgeable is so important, please continue . Thank you Paula Pixie Moss
Can you do a video on how Estrogen Replacement has a side effect of Hair Loss? Low Estrogen causes Hair Loss so it seems like Estrogen Replacement should reverse meno hair loss!! This is so confusing and distressing!!
Yes this is the symptom I would like to know more about. I'm 62 and have gone from a mass of curly hair to very fine hair. I can see too much of my scalp thru the front of my head. Philip Kingsley Trichologist says if you've had hairloss for more than 10years it won't grow back. But I'm wondering abt the oestro replacement if that does replace the hair? It's all worrying isn't it?🙂
I am a woman of 65 and I’m kind of desperate to have something for my mood depression rain fog and I’ve been really studying into this menopause stuff and I should have checked into it earlier but I did not realize that you can do all these things in what would be some thing that I could use at my age as evidently if you didn’t start soonerYou shouldn’t use estrogen anymore, am I correct?
Yes, I agree, I have been dealing with HRT for over 7 years. I am 46 years old and have no libido where did it go. I don't have hot flashes but night sweats. I don't have weight gain but my weight fluctuates. My gynecologist did a blood test and found that I'm an HRT patient. I live in the USA and haven't heard anyone talk about it like this. What can I do for low libido, my sex is 0. Please help me.
You need to go to your doctor .you will get your sex drive back maybe diet and exercise and maybe hormone pill or cream might help.your urge will come back I hope you have a caring man that will help you
I do estrogen cream inserted in vagina. I tried rubbing on and didn't work as good as inserted. So that's what I do and progesterone I rum on forearm. Dr hotze office said don't use estrogen without progesterone. I also started injectable testosterone. But I'm trying to find an alternative on the test. Even though I love I wanna only take small dose znd take a test booster to help.
Thank you so much for this video. It has been so informative and full of informative information. My dr is saying their is a shortage of patches,as this would be my preference (I have still got my womb and am peri menopause) so require both Estroge on and progesterone. Can I buy these patches myself or insist my dr prescribes them.
M.E. and underactive thyroid (many years), on HRT patches. But I feel there's something missing stoll very foggy headed, dizzy, headachy, exhaustion and cognitive symptoms still poor. It helped with the flushes, a bit, but nothing else. I am using Evorel conti. I had ovaries and fallopian tubes removed last July (large mass on ovary, with its own network of cells). Luckily was not ovarian cancer. I wonder if a bit of testosterone would help. Has anyone found any online that is trustworthy?
Thanks for such an informative video. Just a quick question does the Estrogel bottle need to be shaken before use and does the dose stay the same each time even towards the end of the bottle?
I hope you all ladies can have a caring man that will be supportive while you are going through this sex comes and goes and there a variety of sex where sometimes quality and quantity and cuddling and being nude and taking your bodies as they are to enjoy life is short never know what happens day to day
Thanks to you and liz I started the gell and body identical progesterone the pharnacist told me to take it for 28 days then a break x 2 says but after listening to.you I will just continue daily it has been just over a week so too early I guess to see the effects. I just wish I found you 10 years ago maybe I would not have left my lovely job that I adored as a year ago I took early retirement from SW as I fell overwhelmed with everything. Never mind life continues. Thank you so much for all your teaching .Gob bless you 🙏 ♥ 🙌
