Yes, yet the word church was inaccurately translated by King James who had a problem with the original words which is Ekklesia (army and governance) and oikos (family). @@thovenach My beliefs come straight from Jesus, or His apostles. Everything I believe is straight from the authoritative Word of God. I always check any doctrine with the Bible. I’ve done some pretty extensive research on church history and I can’t say it’s a very strong case for the RCC. In fact, church history is exactly why I don’t trust the RCC. They are the modern day Pharisees. The church I attend isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t claim to be, nor does it have to be. I am the church. The ekklesia. The body of true believers is the church. The people who put 100% of their trust in Jesus is the church. The names written in the lambs book of life, that is the church and that church doesn’t need to be perfect. They just need to repent, and trust Jesus. The RCC however claims to be authoritative and infallible but lack any justification for this authority and infallibility and despite disagreement over doctrine and dogma within the church itself. So even if I did try to see if my beliefs align with theirs, I’d have to ask who? What time period? What pope? What bishop? Jesus should always be the foundation, the themelios, of our church. The church should be the the “hedraioma”, which is translated “pillar” in 1 Timothy 3:15 but actually means to prop or support in Greek. So the church should prop up or support the foundation which is Christ Jesus. Your faith, and growth in your relationship with God will be stunted by a dogmatic church like the RCC or the Orthodox Church. I follow only one Man, and that Man is also God with us. If you can prove beyond any doubt that I cannot have a relationship with God, or enter the kingdom of heaven without the Catholic Church, then I would convert today. I don’t know how you would do that without using scripture, and scripture is pretty clear. As of right now, these leaders have proven to be nothing more than flawed, corrupt, blasphemous or heretical wolves adorned in expensive exorbitant clothing and housed within excessive and elaborate buildings, preforming pagan like rituals. I've been a protestant since I was born in 1973. After ONE reading of the Catechism of Trent, and just a few videos of Fr. Chris Alar and E. Michael Jones, I began counseling at my local Catholic Church, where I was warmly welcomed. Please read the Catechism or talk to a priest before taking this guy at his work. I've never heard so many lies and distortions of what the Mass entails in such a short time. I'm glad I found this, because all my doubts are removed. My confirmation is this coming Sunday, praise Jesus Christ!
I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school even, K-12. As a teenager I rebelled, was an atheist for about 8 years, then from 20 to 33 I believed in God but could not find a church I felt was home. This year that changed though & I'm baptized LDS now. Essentially I went from one of if not THE most ostracized sects of Christianity to one of if not THE most ostracized sects of Christianity. Whether Catholic, Protestant, Mormon or other, nothing turns me off more than someone more emphasized on others accepting his church above accepting Christ. No church is perfect. No church is inerrant. Churches are stewarded by men who are imperfect. I think of the "other exorcist" story where an apostle hurriedly tells Jesus that another man is invoking Jesus's name to cast out demons but Jesus calms this apostle telling him that what matters is that good is done by His name. I am also reminded of the several passages which remind us that a tree is to be judged by its fruit. Finally, I remember Paul in one of his epistles telling another disciple not to be preoccupied with what the disciple thought was a false church. Paul told him that this church would only survive if it taught Jesus's message correctly & if it didn't then it would dissolve without needing any action from them. I hope this might resonate with anyone reading it. I try to ALWAYS remember Matthew 22:37 & Romans 14:23 & I think I stay on track with my faith in Christ when I do.

If you believe offering Christ as a sacrifice repeatedly, whenever you feel like (aka "on demand"), and are also familiar with scripture, yet find nothing wrong with this, then you are most certainly on the wide path, my friend. Jesus died once for our sins and scripture could not be clearer on this specific point (1 Peter 3:18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God). (Romans 6:10: For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God). The Holy Spirit did not use the phrase "once," on accident. Any other Christ is a knockoff. And I am not sorry to say this. If you still think you are in the right, read some quotes by the infallible popes (only God is infallible) and some "Church Fathers" over the years, and then tell me you aren't sick to your stomach. They brag about how they can control Christ, call Him down when "they" want, and parade Him through the streets, ...if they so wish. Truly blasphemous stuff, especially out of the mouths of supposedly infallible, or even holy men. Hope your eyes are opened my friend. Man-made institutions are always corrupt by their inherent nature. Jesus would never have accepted a physical church, for His Church is spiritual, and found in our hearts, by the awesome grace of God. When Jesus told Peter "On this rock I will build my church" ...He meant Himself. Christ is clearly the base of the church, and "everything" else is built around Him. Jesus is the cornerstone the builders rejected (and the Old Testament confirms the coming Christ as the rock, in multiple places, look for yourself if you don't believe me). Anyway, the Holy Word is incorruptible, and is all the instruction that you could ever need in life. I will pray for God to enlighten you as He has recently with myself. I don't forget very easily that I (not too long ago), was myself a part of the mass and basically never questioned "infallibility" or any other dogma or doctrine. And praying to Mary and the saints when Jesus is our sole intercessor, (again scripture emphasizes this point many, many times) is just another blasphemy that comes to mind. Aye. I sincerely hope you can see the light and share the one true Gospel with your friends, enemies, and acquaintances... If I can even help one soul to be saved, I would be ever thankful to God for both the opportunity and the blessing. One way I know that the protestant positions and beliefs were not what was in place in the early church is the fact that the early church (Roman Catholic Church) survived for over 1500 years and is still around today. Before Luther died, there were already many divisions among protestants: Lutherans (1521), Anabaptist (1525), Anglicans (1534) Calvinist (1540).

Debating has its place, but this man is a true man of God and a pastor. Debate would be a waste of his time. The mass was around. We have writings from early christians dated anywhere between the year 70-100 AD. They would confess their sins. They would have a simple order to the mass. It's called the Didache. It's one of the ways we know what Christians were doing. Not all of pauls letters have been found or recovered. We only used the ones that we found that were proven to be authentic letters. The bible doesn't say you must follow the Bible alone. The bible wasn't compiled till the year 400. So before this we follow pauls teaching that you should follow what he says by word of mouth (traditions) or by letter. Have you read the bible or do you just choose what you want to listen to. Vive Christe rex! The true king who gave us a church. Do not interpret the bible yourself. In peters letters he says you should not interpret the bible yourself. In Timothy we read that the Church is the bulwark of faith. The Church safeguards the fatih from heresies. There was someone ( I can't remember who) but people would go on pilgrimage to venerate his body. In MAtthew we read about when we die we will be judged for our deeds good or bad in front of Jesus. (It does not say you will go straight to heaven). There was always a blessing over the bread. It's not hocus pocus. They do not say what the blessing was. Maybe Jesus said Hocy pocy in front of it like you said but I would doubt that. I bet it was a proper prayer. Did the apostles bow to statues. I don't think so. But I know that not everything was revealed in the Bible. It may be true and without error but it does not say that it has the fullness of everything within it. It doesn't explain how grass grows and yet it does. It doesn't explain why babies cry. We know that though. It doesn't explain Einsteins theory of relativity and yet we know it. 1. Submission to the Pope- Submission to a higher authority is always good. Submission of wives to their husbands, Children to their elders, Christians to one another, everyone to their governing authority. Submitting to Gods will. Submitting to Gods teachers. Remember submission to the Pope does not mean that you are not free to do as you will but rather it shows that you are submitting to who Jesus put in charge of his Holy Catholic Church. I thank God for my Catholic Faith--- It is the salvation of my life after serving in protestant churches for 40 years--- Thank You Jesus for the Mass and Holy Communion . You’re trying to say that people dying for the Catholic faith means it must be true. My friend, people die for Islam, and for other belief systems too. It means nothing. You must not know how strong the devil’s delusion is. He’s capable of blinding your mind so bad that despite you having clear evidence before your very eyes contradicting what your mind says, you still believe your mind. Now I won’t be the guy who just throws this around when I say the devils blinded you Catholics, without explaining why. The truth of the matter is, the idea is to get to know God personally. And the Roman Catholic tradition doesn’t open the door to that. People become Catholics and stay Catholics for decades and never come to know God intimately. I was raised Catholic and encountered Jesus at 21. He led me straight to the Gospel. I repented and received him as my Lord and Savior in my car without getting baptized and he instantly entered my body. Didn’t have to do anything else. Now tell me, if I already know God without having had to do anything else but believe in Jesus, what is the need for religion? Christ hasn’t left my body for 8 years now and I’ve sinned a whole lot. And I’m saying this because I’m not perfect, even though he transformed me. Not because I intentionally go out trying to sin. I don’t anymore since I got saved. Heck, I haven’t done anything after sinning, to get him to forgive me (because I know how true the sufficiency of his finished work is). And, he hasn’t rebuked me, disciplined me, or left me. Again, I now know God personally and intimately, and didn’t have to become catholic for this. I have family members who have been Catholic for decades, and none of them know Jesus. What’s the point of the tradition? This is why I say Catholicism is of Satan. It doesn’t give you any relationship with God. It rejects faith alone, but faith alone is how the Spirit of God enters you. I can testify to that. See also Galatians 3:1-5. So if the only means by which God enters you is rejected by the RCC, that must mean it’s of satan, since he’s the god of this world.
Amen After coming back to God I almost walked away from The Catholic Church due to my own ignorance and feeling peer pressure from other ignorant Christians. After looking more at it it seems that demonitions like Protestisim are just basically like baby Christians. They misunderstand the faith and don't know a lot, so they lean towards themselves and other people more instead of to tradition. (Which The Bible even calls for). I use to think that MacArthur was a great man, but now listening to him there's so much about Catholicism that he gets wrong and the majority of people listening to him just eat it up. I pray that we can all be unified as one in the body of Christ just as The Bible says. Amen

My question, and it is uniquely important to Sola Scriptura (or Solo Scriptura, which is often applied in practice) is whether the teaching is substantiated in Scripture. The importance of this is obvious because of the very nature of the doctrine. The material sufficiency of the Trinity is overwhelming in Scripture. That is why is was proclaimed a dogma by an Ecumenical Council. Unfortunately, with Sola Scriptura poorly applied within a given community, like the Jehovah's Witness and Oneness Pentecostals, you can come to non-Trinatarian conclusions. The Council's decision is, for them, in no way binding. Other Protestants run into serious and similar problems. If Scripture is the only infallible rule for the Church, how do you define the Canon? Yes, that old question won't go away... R.C. Sproul, the great Presbyterian scholar, said that the Bible is "a fallible Canon of infallible books." This is incoherent. How can a book, a book that was contested for centuries, like Revelation, be trusted as infallible, if the Canon is fallible. Essentially you would be guessing what is Holy Scripture and what is not, based on subjective criteria. This could not be the sole trustworthy rule for the Church. So the issue of Sola Scriptura not being substantiated in Scripture is indeed a serious problem for Protestants. You may want to say it is the best system, or the most reliable, or consistent, but I do not think you cannot say with any certainty that it is true -- and you must acknowledge it's shortcomings, internal contradictions and the interpretative issues it creates. I could get into all of that, but perhaps if you feel that there is very strong, implicit basis for Sola or Solo Scriptura in the Bible, you can tell me. Keep in mind that in 1 Timothy, when Paul says, "All Scripture is God-breathed," he is referring to the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) and not the New Testament, which had yet to been written. In other "proofs," the greatness and power and authority of God's Word is established, but not the self-sufficiency of the written Word of God throughout. God bless.

I used to be fundamentalist Baptist, but now I’m a Roman Catholic. I’m thankful in a lot of ways for this video. It helps me see the extent of straw manning that can occur as well as remind me of what Catholicism actually teaches. I find it hard to see the charity in John MacArthur, as he misrepresents what the Catholic faith and what it teaches. Honestly, this video is absolutely disgusting. That is a small part of the Gospel yes. The Gospel was argued on what were the true Gospel to be included in the Bible. Many argued that none of the new testament would be the word of God and only the Old Testament. (Mostly Jews). Then there were some who didn't want any but the 4 gospels. It was solidified with those books that the Catholic Church has in the year 400 as the books that were inspired and holy and without err.

As an altar boy in the days of the Latin Mass, I recall the parades, on a lesser scale, up and down the aisles of the church. Four senior altar servers holding up the canopy while the priest, his arms and hands wrapped in his chasuble so he doesn't touch the monstrance with the host inside it. I had no idea about the idolatry in which I was involved at the time. I just hated the whole thing because it was so cold and miserable, with two very stern priests. I was fifteen when I decided to defy my father who didn't attend church, anyway, and left the church and religion to call myself an atheist. I decided if this religion and the clergy represented heaven and God, then I didn't want to go there. Twenty years went by and I came to Christ. I began to read a bible, which was forbidden to us, and became angry when I saw that the Catholic religion belongs to Satan. It's good to see a few ministers standing up against the Catholic religion, one of whom is Mike Gendron who has mentioned John MacArthur, positively. Shame on those evangelicals who have decided that the Catholic and Christian religions are compatible; they don't know what Christianity is about.

All the apostolic churches, ie Catholic , Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, & Oriental Churches agree on: + the definition & number of sacraments + the Mass being a sacrifice + the bread and wine offerings becoming the body blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. Also all agree that a sacrifice is the killing of the victim and the sprinkling of the victim’s blood on the altar (ie not just the killing of the victim). Also all agree that Jesus Christ died once on Calvery (ie he is not re-crucified during Mass). And Calvery is made present during Mass. The ongoing sacrifice is the action of Christ (as priest) offers his blood (as victim) on the altar in heaven in front of the Trinity.

I've also heard Pastor Jack Hibbs and Amir Tsarfati teach on the fallacies of the Catholic Church. All three of these men are great men of God. Preaching biblical truth which so many churches no longer do.

We are drawn into it, despite being removed by 2000 years. Jesus, according to Hebrews and Romans INTERCEDES - present tense - for us. The heavenly scene of worship in Revelation also shows the Lamb that appears slain offering Himself for the sake of humanity. Immolation has multiple meanings, if you read the context, it should be clear what Trent says.

As a catholics we must remember that Jesus says to the church that the death of hell will not prevail against it. Jesus is an Emmanuel (God with us) he is in the holy sacrament he call us to receive him with a humble heart. Jesus says always watch and pray so that we will not leads into temptation. Let’s REALLY talk about idolatry. Idolatry is when one gets rid of the altar and replaces it with an oversized pulpit. The altar makes sure the focus is upon Jesus. A pulpit makes sure the focus is on the speaker.

Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice and He is our high priest. (Heb 4:14-17) There is no need for any more sacrifices!!! Jesus fulfilled the law! Our sins have been paid for. Hallelujah! Further Jesus’s saving work continues as He intercedes for us to the Father (Heb 7:25) and He sends His Holy Spirit to indwell in His believers, to empower us and equip us to live in faith and obedience to Christ. What beautiful gifts of grace! In the Mass, where does the priest stand when reading the Gospel? There is only one born again. Just like human birth. You can't be born from the womb twice, and you can't be Baptized twice cause it makes no sense. People who are Baptized more than once are only doing it for themselves, and people who say they're "born again" without a Baptism are just making things up. I don't understand why protestant "ministers" -- especially so called "evangelicals" -- continue to have this weird obsession with talking about the Catholic Church and trying to "prove" that it is heretical. The Holy Roman Catholic Church goes all the way back to Jesus Christ, and to His disciples, and to their successors. Protestantism, especially evangelical Calvinism, is a new phenomenon, only from the 16th century at the latest. Christ gave the Church His teachings, His love, His blessings, and His power to forgive sins to His apostles and then to their successors, the Church Fathers, and thus to the ordained priesthood; not to a bunch of "ministers" who have decided how to interpret the Holy Bible as they see fit just because they went to "divinity school" and heard a lecture by Billy Graham, and then decided to start an independent "church" as themselves as the head and authority for the community/congregation/parish. However, they forget, the canon of the one and true Holy Bible was affirmed by the Council of Rome (AD 382), the Synod of Hippo (AD 393), the 1st Council of Carthage (AD 397), the 2nd Council of Carthage (AD 419), the Council of Florence (AD 1431-1449) and finally, as an article of faith, by the Council of Trent (AD 1545-1563). These councils, going all the way back to the Church Fathers (the original keepers of the holy Catholic Church) established the biblical canon consisting of 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament for a total of 73 books.. So, if you believe in the inerrancy of the Bible you theretofore must believe in the inerrancy of the Roman Catholic Church. Your "personal" opinions do not matter when the concerns are articles of faith and/or the Dogma. No single man -- especially one not ordained with the apostolic succession -- has the authority to interpret the scriptures. That was the folly of Martin Luther. Only the Church, and the Magisterium, successors of St Peter and St Paul, have that God given authority. Prove me wrong!

Making preaching the centre of a Sunday gathering is a modern invention. The Biblical Church and ancient Church offered up Jesus to the Father through the Holy Spirit. This was the centre, the Trinitarian centre of all things. Catholics believed Jesus died once on the Cross for their sins and they are saved by grace through faith in him. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are lying or ignorant.
