Explaining the Pandemic to my Past Self Part 6 

When she started the series I would’ve never guessed we would’ve ever gotten to a part 6. But here we are.

I sometimes overlook Julie's acting because of the comedy. But she actually made me tear up with the way she delivered the news about Betty White. Bravo, Julie, bravo.

Having binged this series in may 2022, there where so many "oh yeah that was a thing" moments, the monoliths, the murderhornets, people making bread, and looking back I realise that I miss something about those days, the feeling of bewilderment and dread, the anxiety over what will happen next. The apathy really feels like I lost a big chunk of my humanity.

I really want, and simultaneously don’t want, this series to continue.

This series should be added to the Canadian Archives for future generations to learn about of slow descent into madness during the pandemic

Remember in 2020, when we were still counting the duration of the crisis in days, then weeks, then months? I've given up on all that now and am counting it in Julie's pandemic videos, because honestly it's the least depressing unit of time at this point.

Ah, January 2022 Julie, so innocent and positive...

Julie is the only part of me that doesn't want the pandemic to end.

Never has a series more perfectly captured the exact tone of the time it was made. By 2022 we're all just depressed and unphased

I gotta say I love how these are not made every month or so. There really is one per "phase" of the pandemic, and I appreciate that. Feels like some kinda of artistic integrity or something.

Remember the good times... Fighting over toilet paper? Being upset because we couldn't go to a club because of a virus? The killer hornets? I don't know... but I am getting nostalgic... good old times...

As a teacher, Julie screaming into the pillow is how I feel in such a way that I cannot explain in words.

Part 7 is gonna be crazy when she has to break the news of Russia invading Ukraine.

I wait for the episode where the future self says only one thing: “It’s Over.”

I love how the whole feel of this has just gotten more miserable and downtrodden over time. Things really are at rock bottom. Eff this pandemic.

I love this series, but man, I can’t tell y’all how much I want to see the last one, where future Julie tells us all, that it’s over. Don’t lose hope and stay save, guys ♥️

Episode 7: "So, how's the pandemic going?" "The what now?" "The... Pandemic? COVID?" "Oh... Yeah. Right. I guess that's a thing still." "What do you mean? That's kind of a big deal to forget about." "..." "..." "Your definition of a "big deal" is about to change...." "Oh for the love of-- WHAT HAPPENED NOW?!?" "Let's just say you need to postpone your trip to St Petersburg....indefinitely."

I just want to say I think Betty would have loved the comedic call back, she was brilliant and had a wonderfully rich sense of humor. This series is amazing.

I need this to continue throughout however long this pandemic will be. Julie, this is now historical documentation and we need you to hang in there and make sure the future knows. Please.

“I feel like the writing has really fallen off.” And that’s how we know how brilliant Julie really is.

When this came out, I started hoping maybe part 7 would be the final installment. Now I'm worried maybe part 7 will be the final installment.

Just realized these Videos are almost like a diary about how it is like to live during these shitty times. Just rewatched the whole series and there were a lot of things I already forgot. See myself showing these to my grandchildren in 2070.

When she said, "The pandemic has stolen two years of my life." I felt that. Man, I'm turning 30 in two days and I feel like I've been robbed of the last two years of my 20s.

And the saddest thing is we are less than 2 mths later and Julie will have to make a part 7. 2022 already is a shitstorm.

My dad was just asking me yesterday if the "explaining pandemic series" had been updated, looking forward to mentioning it has when he comes back 😄 he finds them really entertaining and I love this series ❤

I like how Julie 2022 is just spilling it. The whole time travel concern is completely off the table.

For nearly a decade, when things went wrong the metric of hope was always "At least Betty White is still ok." She lived a beautiful and long life, but the idea she's not okay is such a collective feeling of hope lost. Julie, you captured that sense of fuckitall I think plenty of us felt.

I guess we can all agree part 7 is gonna be a doozy.

Oof, hearing it all laid out like that... yeah season three was pretty dull and depressing. The screaming into the pillow is how I aim to go on with my 2022 too

"I'm being robbed of two years of my life here!" Same. What's even worse is that in tough times we're supposed to be realizing what really matters to us and try to live our lives to the fullest. Maybe try to travel more, try new things, meet new people, go to places we never thought of going before, change up the routine of life but we can't do any of that. Instead, we're just supposed to sit at home and do nothing forever and ever. I don't know how much of this I can take.

Be honest: this woman has done more for society with this simple series than most of us will do with our entire lives. A part 7? If she can without losing it

I don't want to think to deep about it, but it occurred to me that this pandemic is kind of following the phases of grief. Just mixed up with different people in different phases, at the same time. We had shock, denial (oh, boy did we), rage, bargaining (lots of bargaining), depression. Now I'm seeing some early signs of acceptance peeking through the depression.

The fact that this series is going on so long is both my favorite thing ever and the most depressing thing in the world.

I just watched the latest episodes of season 3 and I am having a *BLAST.* Don't worry, the season pilot 'January' wasn't boring, it was just a breather episode.

Just when I was worried this series was winding down, it gets renewed indefinitely! I look forward to seeing what 2030 Julie has to say about the next Civil War and the snowstorms in LA.

I feel so sorry for August 2021 Julie. This is seriously getting exhausting and even more tragic.

It has been only a month this time, but since we are sliding into WW3, I would appreciate a new part. Love from Europe!

Discovering Julie was one of the few things which made the pandemic a bit more bearable.

Not gonna lie. This is one of the best and most relatable series I’ve ever seen. It’s like therapy recapping the trauma of the past few months. Please keep this going. I’m starting to need it. 😅

The whole world felt that scream. Even though most of the planet actually has no idea who Betty White was, they can relate to the symbolism of losing something wonderful as an end cap to another awful year.

Her delivery of the line, "It's teak," was so hilariously sad. That's exactly where we all are, right about now (if we're lucky enough to have houses and the ability to buy new furniture, of course).

Part 7: Remmember the pandemic? - Yes, horrible. How is it? - Nobody cares, now we are looming nuclear war!

These always feel cathartic to watch. It's validating to see that other people also feel exhausted by this surge and variant. Right after the boosters rolled out. Julie, thank you. I love your new hair.

On a serious academic note, your work on this series really need to be examined in future media studies classes because this is really a reflection of what's happening right now here globally for the past three years.

I found Julie just after she did the first of these, I'm really really glad I didn't know then that there would be 6. That said, great job once again Julie, thanks for helping us all make the best out of "interesting times".

Dear Julie, you made this neverending flow of grey soup that this timeline has become so much more colorful. At least we‘re all in this together. I am having retro covid moments already when seeing people wearing selfmade masks in pictures (we dont use those since 2020 any more in Germany). The first year without new years resolutions.

I will say that at this point of the slow descent into madness i'm just finding enjoyment watching how the stages of ...grief? rage? Rage-Grief? Reif. I'm enjoying watching the stages of reif that humanity as a collective whole is going through. And Julie has been a perfect exemplar of each of those stages. Remember part 4? Remember hope? Yeah. Best we can all do now is resist the urge to leap out the window. Hang in there everyone.

Aww, Julie, I really felt this one. It made me smile, which was necessary. I generally only leave home quarantine to go to my appointments at the cancer center and for walks outside. Somehow seeing others as frustrated as me makes it a bit easier to get through this moment of stupid history. I love this series!! You've nailed the angst, the disbelief, the utter repetition of it... You nailed it all so perfectly! Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

Out of all the videos Julia has done in this series, this video hit me the hardest. Especially the “being robbed of two years of my life” and Betty White bits. And I just watched the whole series and I can’t believe how much of the past two years my mind has blocked out because of COVID. Geez…this is insane.

i just went back and re-watched all of these... the attention to detail in the callbacks from each part is amazing! I'd forgotten how Julie from Dec 2020 was so sure that was going to be the last one.. and how she kind of retconned her in-universe timeline when Julie from April 2021 went back to visit the Julie from January 2020 right after April 2020 Julie... good times :)

and December 2020 Julie was all concerned we'd be done with this by now

I think we all knew where it was going when Julie said "One more thing" Reality really just fulfilled on the foreshadowing back in the first one.

The scariest thing is not that Julie is expecting another visit from future herself - I think she got used to frequent visitors by now. :) The scariest thing that she left the pillow on the table for future screaming. :(

There should be a final part of this series where Julie from January 2020 meets Julie from whatever year the pandemic ends.

With everything going on, I would say she can do a part 7 now 😬

Honestly, if I talked to my past self, I would have some good news for him: a) You finally moved out of your old shitty sharehouse that had the WORST flatmates ever. You're much happier now (mentally & physically), and you've become more outgoing and confident. b) You don't seem to get back into your self-destructive tendencies when you're feeling down. Instead, weekly therapy during the lockdown in 2021 (I live in Australia) helped you gain some constructive mechanisms to deal with it. Don't worry, you'll land on your feet soon. You've gotta wade through the tons of shit first. It does get worse before it gets better.

Betty White dying on new years eve morning, 18 days before her 100th bday has to be the worst omen... BUT she has lived 24 leap years which means technically she did make it to a 100!

Ok, no lie. Julie. You literally made me burst into tears. I just watched a video about Betty White with a grizzy bear talking about her career being her vehicle into animal advocacy.. I'm so sad right now. Life has been beating the absolute crap out of most of us for a long, long while. This just htis... really hard.

The Betty White reaction was painfully accurate. She was born before all my grandparents and outlived all of them (by only a few days, but still). Thank you for being a friend, Betty.

This series has been what's kept me afloat. Through these past two years she has brought comedy and realness to it and what she said about March 2020 all over again really hit. She can really bring the dark stuff along with the comedy, great job Julie, and thank you!
