Wait this is so good. I love dissection of middle grade, YA, NA. That’s why there was such a jarring transition for the last 3 books in the series. I was like … wait where’s happy then sad then badass mystery magic adventures.

24:05 ok so I recently read the books and this was explained. Basically it has to do with intent. Maeve’s intent was full control so obviously it’s nearly Impossible to go against it. Aelin’s was intended with love, so the bond isn’t as strict. The book literally says it’s more like a suggestion. 31:39 I know it’s a minor mistake but Morath means black mountains in the Old Language.
I’m so happy you came back to make more of this series it’s made me laugh so hard, i’m reading Tower of Dawn rn and bored out of my mind (i still don’t like chaol) so this has been great to help me remember the rest of the plot!

Liked this one so much, I had to watch it twice ;) (had to... you know?) I'm torn, I found it a bit easier to follow, when you put on the names to the board as you talked about it - and of course a primal part of my brain loved it, when s/o got crossed off 😂- but then, BUT THEN that board is such a beauty! The lines! The legibility! The grouping around story lines! Insta-love between me and than board (maybe a love triangle with my To-Do-Lists ;))
I‘m late to the party, but I‘m so invested in this horrible series now so on to another hour of recap! Originally, I got bombarded with Throne of Glass content when it became popular on „BookTok“ even tho I read the first book way back when phones weren’t really a thing. I thought it was horrible then, and it’s still a mess now but I really love your videos about them. The comedy, the subtle jokes, it’s amazing. I never intended to ever read the books since I couldn’t even get through „ACOTAR“ without wanting to throw up. But this Videos series, ducking fantastic!!
Spoilers: I think the blood oath’s strength comes from why it was sworn in the first place. Maeve did it with the intent of total control whereas with Aelin, Rowan swore it because they loved each other. In KOA, Fenrys swears a blood oath to Aelin because it was the only way to save his life. The strength and way the control works depends on the circumstances that the oath is sworn and the reason behind it
I like this... A lot. I'm re-reading the series now and your videos popped up on my feed. Dammmit Google! But I disagree with the sexual content jump! To me, it felt more like a progression. Kind of like how Harry Potter gets darker and darker as the story progresses. Celena starts off a virgin in the story. She becomes sexually active in book 2. There's no real sex in book 3 but it's not for the lack of trying. But she does wear lingerie , etc. In book 4, she finally does the deed with Rowan and her sex drive takes off from there. She becomes a horn-dog after the first time with Rowan. I feel like it mirrors how relationships are when you are young and have your first real relationship that is both mentally and physically satisfying. I think she wrote the books to mature with the reader. If the reader was at the youngest end of the spectrum, which was 14, the reader would be 17-18 when they read the first really descriptive sex scene. The sex scenes become a lot more descriptive but I think it's because she wants the content to mature with the reader. Idk... That's just my opinion 6:
