Explaining To Children How God Created The World

This is so important to for children today. I think connecting with nature is the only way for us to connect with God and each other. Nature depends on us to take care of it, but we also depend on it for our cultural environment. I like the way you share the story of creation as something happening now. Thank you.

I read every one of your books and felt hope but since hearing about how all we have to look forward to is punishment and tribulations and chastisements horror and all I feel most days is a mixture of anger and despair. No matter what we do we can never ever be good enough and the goal posts are forever being shifted and the bar set higher all the time. I don't even know how to explain how depressing the Catholic religion makes me feel now. I've tried to live a good life but am tired of trying and I think I no longer care. Vera

How can i explain to them that o dont have enough money for food? Please tell me the words i can say to make it all ok, my situation, life in my country, the USA, can i alone make it any better? I live in fear of becoming homeless now. I pray to God and listen for His guidance, i take action where i can but i find myself hopeless here i feel fearful and lost even in my home. Theres no help or sanctuary here as there is for many millions of others that are new to the country. I can only get up pray and cry some more. Then do it all again. Is this what God imagined for my life? Is it something i did to turn our government against us? I only wonder why God would allow, a communist- style govt, that hates its citizens, to be in charge of us in America now? They dont care how we suffer with this horrid economic delusion, all their talk is cheap when you have hungry children.

Lorna, you're beautiful words reminded me of this story, I'm sure we've all heard before but it's worth repeating: Once upon a time, there was an old man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach every morning before he began his work. Early one morning, he was walking along the shore after a big storm had passed and found the vast beach littered with starfish as far as the eye could see, stretching in both directions. Off in the distance, the old man noticed a small boy approaching. As the boy walked, he paused every so often and as he grew closer, the man could see that he was occasionally bending down to pick up an object and throw it into the sea. The boy came closer still and the man called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?” The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the youth replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.” The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.” The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!” adapted from The Star Thrower, by Loren Eiseley (1907 - 1977) I love this story, we should teach children at a young age to respect and care for all of God's creation no matter how big or how small. In Heaven, animals will live in peace with each other and with us.There will be no more slaughter houses, no animals will tremble in fear at the hands of man. May God forgive us for the senseless way we kill billions and billions of land and sea animals, it's so unnecessary. Having dominion over animals does not give us the right to treat them cruelly or take away their lives, they are sentient beings like us. They feel fear, pain, joy, and love us unconditionally, even though we treat them so horribly. We are to be caretakers of them and the Earth, but we have failed miserably. Is it any wonder we can turn our backs to their suffering when we can do it so easily to our own brothers and sisters who suffer at the hands of their fellow man. We are all connected, the killing, no matter human or animal, effects the collective soul of every living thing on this planet. Thankfully, I see a generation waking up an changing, eating more plants and less animals, speaking out against hatred and violence, standing up for the rights of the marginalized of society, seeking truth and justice. This is the only way forward and part of God's plan for all of His creation
