If you don't correctly install your bike tyre, or "bead" it properly on the rim, the tube can push out and explode. Here's what happens. Watch the volume!
this actually JUST happened to my bike before heading somewhere today and it made me cry, cause at first the tire was already completely flat so i went to fix it and fill it up and then it exploded (or i guess popped loudly) in public and i honestly thought i broke my bike completely.
That’s what happened to mine when I don’t seated the tyre property and all of the sudden, it went bang and I’ve suffered from temporarily hearing loss in my left ear!🤣🤣
Wondering what pressure you got to...I've had a tubes on 1 wheel, keeps doing this... at times days after it's inflated. I've scanned the wheel, new rim strip, even taped to catch what the strip didn't ... (older cruiser bike) I am usually careful and check while I'm inflating. Could the tire be defective and pushing off the rim after its inflated?
I just bought a rebuilt bike and when I got home (from a trip on the train) I decided to go for a ride. I went pretty far - into a park and after a while of riding around there, I begin hearing & feeling this "Wherff, Wherff, Wherff" repeating sound and vibration, several times, coming from the fork of the bike (near the brake pads) and the front wheel began taking on this slight wobble (almost like the rim got bent slightly out of alignment) and then "BLAMMM!!!" This had to be the cause of it. Just the riding around probably began to heat up the inner tube and it found the spot of least resistance. I checked later, the rim wasn't bent. Maybe the bike shop guy was in a rush while working on the tire or got distracted by a new customer coming in the store.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids yeah, I later discovered a large tear in the tire itself - right in that spot - the wire bead. I checked out a YT video by these British pro racer bike guys - where they showed how to stitch up your tire with black mercerized thread ( the type that will cut your hands open if you tried to break it with your hands). But that works fine if the tear is in the center of the tire - not at the wire bead. They said that you can get much larger tire patch material at auto or motorcycle repair shops to glue over your stitches on the tire interior and there's this black goo that you can put on the outside of the tire - in addition. I'm sitting there thinking " this is cool advice and step by step instructions for casual riders but if I'm in a race, by the time I get this repair done, my competition is almost near the finish line."
This just happened last weekend. Pumped up tires and like 8 hours later one exploded. Never rode it or anything. Is the tire done for? The metal wire Around the tire snapped.
Haha I’m so dumb, did it twice! First time I didn’t know, second time I didn’t check correctly (only looked at one side) My neighbors now think I have some problem
Hi I have had a bike of my mate and the tire was low..so I put 40 psi (20 in wheels) and hours later the inner tube blew out. I have since replaced it with a new tube and this one has split where the valve is glued. What's the reason for this as I've been working on my bike for years on and off ? Thanks
I would check that you've got the right valve for the rim (don't put a presta in a schrader valve as it could split on the rim edge hole). Then check the tyre for splits or glass/wire. And then make sure the rim tape is intact so there are not sharp edges including on the inside of the rim wall. Good luck.
I would say this is quite unlikely, an exploding bike tire does not have the db to permanently damage the hearing of a normal person (tinnitus is mostly caused by prolonged noise over months/years or a repeated exposure to for example gunshot fire, which is much louder). Perhaps if one already has nerve damage or inflammation or some other cause one should take extra care.
@@andersbjorkman8666 You're already close enough to harm your ears while you're inflating a bike tire (it doesn't help or make it better if you're inside a room/closed environment) and it blows up as it will destroy your hair cells as causes tinnitus. The best thing to do if you don't want tinnitus is to protect your ears in the first place; use earplugs/earmuffs and be aware where load noises is possible to happen as can harm your ears - prevention is key.
Im 3 inner tubes in now the 4th one just boomed on me on a ride wtf......i made extra sure to seat the dam thing with a new tire i think the rim is bent or bad (in my case) and the worst is it caboomed in front of everyone in the park
Sounds like the rim. Sometimes the tyre can be slightly too big so it won't seat properly. Or the rim is damaged or slightly small. Seems most likely you have a problem with the rim.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids as a beginner cyclist this happened 2 me now my ears are hurting heading back 2 Walmart for new inner tubes I thought putting on tires is easy
