Honstly I like the fact that battles will happen at greater distances now rather than just flying close to the enemy and blasting them with as many gatling guns and rockets as possible.
Agreed, The autocannons also give a good splash damage but require you to get into close combat meaning people who prefer close combat will be rewarded for it aswell but long range seems to be really rewarding
I want weapons that use energy an no ammo type so it's a laser or plasma, it has a chunk of power demand to fire but as long as you have fuel you'll be fine
Crew: Captain, I see something approaching on the horizon! Captain: What is it? Crew: I... Don't know. It looks like a massive floating railgun? Captain: I'm sure it's just space debris. *Half of the ship gets blown into the ether*
Assuming they're firing all at once, it may be advantageous to stagger the firing time just slightly, so the first projectile can make a hole for the second, which makes a hole for the third, etc.
I have literally Never been able to play this game seriously, because building and maintaining a ship takes So much more time than combat. Just repairing exterior armor is a pain in the butt..
@codey morganti I agree with this. The new player start is far too grindy, and then you never have enough resources and always have to go back and forth mining. and yes, it's easier to build in creative either way. less problems like running out of energy, or worse- having a block that you can't weld because the weld hitbox of other blocks are blocking it
@@dragonf1recdn a trick i use is building a drill on a piston as soon as I have large grid power, cause that will usually gather much more than the hand drill, and it allows you to pretty easily extend further into whatever surface you are initially building on for more resources
I like how he says it's not overpowered just really cool. Like do you know the possibilities that are possible with this glitch, entire fleets can be demolished in one go.
How to make a glass canon Step1: abuse new game asset Step 2: fire the new compact railgun shotgun Step 3: watch the burning debris of your enemy float in empty space
Now that you mention it using this glitch and timer blocks you can glass bases on asteroids and planets making your ship the most feared ship to ever fly.
This 'cheat' must be enabled by the server owner, it warns them of exactly what it does, 'supergridding exploit' which allows you to place large grid blocks on small grid.
Poor Antarios... Wait... this is the coolest thing that CAN happen to that ship, at least better than lawndarting it into Mars like I did. Your videos have a desync style quality to them, good stuff!
It’s a simple exploit that actually has to be enabled in your world settings, it’s called supergridding. Just enable it in your world settings and then place a large grid railgun, then copy paste it into your small grid rotor. And it will have the hit box of a small grid railgun.
@@Pumking0456 it's not that simple, you actually have to mess with some code. I'm not 100% sure as I've never done it myself, but you save it as a blueprint and then in the files you change it's designation from large to small grid.
I just love that the first 2 things about these new railguns I saw on the net was 2x exploits. Yours, and I saw another one that made it a rotating "6shooter" style revolver where it was constantly firing. :D
the big one is perfect as is, but you could turn the little one into a powerful missile. since its unflyable for long enough after firing to be dead anyway you might as well load it up with warheads. fly the thing full speed at the target then arm the warheads right before you fire the railgun, in theory it would penetrate the hull then blow up inside
Ah, yes, good old supergridding exploit. Nothing new. And creative-only anyway, unless you managed to find a way to functionally connect it to a conveyor network. That the large railgun rounds cannot even pass in the first place by their ammunition.sbc definition.
one sec. Glitch aside... i saw one of the shots kinda ricocheted off... was that a glitch too or is there like an angle at wich the slug can bounce rather than go through?? 0.0
Wait how did you put the big grid on the small ship? I want to create a anti capital ship fighter that has the large railgun integrated into the design.
Keen should really improve upon the physics of the game engine. This thing should create absurd amounts of recoil when fired like in this video. Also, adding the distinction between the center of mass and center of thrust would actually make Ship design an interesting challenge.
realistically, because the projectile is being accelerated with magnetic fields, and not explosives, there would be no recoil. I agree they need to be balanced though, definitely make the shells prohibitively expensive and the power consumption huge.
@@appw_ real life railguns dont have alot of recoil theres barely movement at all except for the projectile and you can move something with magnets and its not like your arm recoils
Balance is highly overrated and stunts gameplay. The point of SE is to think outside the box and exploit game mechanics, not have perfectly fair competition; an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
wau zero recoill infinite power.. well this is what you get when you just make magic boxes that deliver magical magic power.. and yes xD i know future technology will seem magic to us living in this time..
honestly the rail gun should have the power (and power cost) of all the stacked rail guns. Like its so weak without glitching it 50x. We want SUPER WEAPONS. like one big shot that you charge up for a few minutes and just explodes capital ships
