This is one of the classic local gravel climbs, featuring a 10 miles and 4,000 foot HC (uncategorizes) starting on the Boulder Creek Path from the center of town at 5,300 feet to the historic town of Gold Hill nestled at 8,300 feet.
Originally a mining camp, it was the site of the first major discovery of gold during the 1859 Colorado Gold Rush and remained an important mining camp throughout the late 19th century.
Enjoy a deserved refuel at the Gold Hill General Store while you're taken back in time.
Tackle a short climb out of town, and enjoy the switchback dirt descend on Sunshine Canyon before it turns to pavement.
The route is usually done in a clockwise direction (but can be done in both directions), and features 50% crushed loose gravel and 50% tarmac.
