The Explore Scientific iEXOS 100 mount is dedicated for wide field astrophotography. It is a belt driven highly portable astrophotography mount that is capable of handing a small refractor to do beautiful wide field clusters, nebulae, the moon, and more! It is solid, lightweight, highly functional with a full GoTo technology built inside. In this video I'll go over the features and what to expect if you want to pick one of these up!

I actually have an 80mm scope on this and use it with no problems. Forget the polar tunnel it's junk, just use a Mini PC with Nina and PHD2 for guiding. You can get more accurate polar alignment using the 3 star alignment process in Nina. It is a pain in the behind to polar align without the azmith adjuster, but it can be done. I am running the Mini PC from inside the house and it connects to the mount via Wi-Fi which means the pc has 2 wifi nics. Guided I can get 300 seconds with no star trailing or deformation. All in all it's a decent little amount for what it is

so should i get this mount or not? i just plan to use a dslr with a lens with it and i dont have the budget to get the azimuth base thing, NINA on a laptop should work right?

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this mount for visual observation for now possibly moving up to astrophotography in the future.

it is ok for visual use but the native app for controlling it is not the best, and for light refractors of 400-500 mm focal for moderately wide field astrophotography. Adding a sturdier tripod it will be more stable.

Okay, I pulled the trigger and I purchase Asiair and now wanting to connect to it. What cables are needed for control of it. Thanks

I prefer this mount respect the SW GTI because it works with belts; it makes the difference.

Has anybody got this thing to work with the app? I installed the app on an Ipad tablet. However, the app cannot connect or detect the mount. Solid red light, Flashing Green on the mount. The Android app seems to not be supported and doesn't work well.

I never really had issues with mine. You might need to hook it up to the computer with the USB cable and make sure certain features are enabled in the firmware. I had that issue with tracking until I enabled it, so it may be setting related.

Hi! The skywat her eq5 would be a better choice then this? I have the iexos 100 pmc8 but struggling with it, i need an asiair but can't afford one, and their explore stars app foesent work properly, so I found a good deal with a sw eq5 , and wondering if this would be an upgrade?! Thanks

I have gotten same mount, but I couldn't get it to connect to either my laptop or ipad. Just red light on and green light blinking. 🤷‍♂️ Probably returning it back.

Good morning from Austria. Can you tell me what tripod you use? The original one? Or an upgrade?

This the upgraded one. Much more stabile for imaging.

Have you used it with an ASIAIR and if so, did it work well with it?
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
It works very well with it on my first night of imaging I tried! Decent guiding too. You do have to change the Baud rate to like 115000 or something like that for the USB connectivity to work but it works absolutely great from there!
@IgnazioPillitteri
@IgnazioPillitteri Год назад
@@MaximumAstronomy yes it needs a rate of 115200 bps. I have one of those, I attached a minipc on it running indigo server and it works well with small refractors like yours. The software to setup and install firmware updates is available for Windows only

Hi, I have the same mount and I like it so far but how can you do a proper polar alignment without using the ASIAIR? It seams imposible to do that trough that tunel only...and also a skywatcher 150/750 reflector it would be to heavy for this mount?thanks
@IgnazioPillitteri
@IgnazioPillitteri Год назад
@@arpadjakab-peter5431 the polar alignment must be done via software and plate solving, forget about using the polar tunnel, that's ok only for visual use of the mount. A newton 150/750 can be too heavy with the standard tripod but ok with a sturdier tripod like the Bresser ST3

@@IgnazioPillitteri I just ordered the sw 150/750 🙃 and the tripod of the mount seams ok so far, and I hope will hold my reflector cuz I have no intention of changing it :)) but thank you for your advice I will keep that in mind , and I hope my tripod legs would not fold cuz the heavieness of the scope 😅

This mount is a total junk. It's cheaper, but it's totally useless. Very difficult or impossible to polar align, and no matter how well you do it, you still have star trails on exposures longer than 10 sec. It wobbles, no matter what you do. The original tripod is weak and very unstable. If you want to throw the money out the window, buy it.
