You are right about 1000s of irises after a few years. 30yrs ago I started with just a few and gave away 1000 one summer. Didn't look like any were missing. )) 5 yrs later, its time again to do the same. Mine are under big bushes but get morning sun till noon on east side of the house. Those in the back don't seem to care about sun time, half shade or full shade all day... still happy and gorgeous. N.W. Indiana. First I ever heard about rebloomers ))))) I will try for the medium ht whites (novo silver??) Majority here are two shades of purple. Fabulous show first of June.

If you are growing a clump for "stock" I assume they are not blooming well because they are too crowded. That is probably a good thing correct? It seems like by not allowing flowering it would help the rhizome to grow bigger/ stronger.

What about those iris types that grow super fast and produce tons of blooms more so than regular iris?

I've heard that re-bloomers need to be "dug up' and separated every one/two years...somewhat sooner than standard bearded iris? This video indicates every five/six years for separating rhizomes, and because it's about (title) *_re-bloomers_* , this information is confusing and conflicts with other sources.

It seems like digging in July, the new bulbs wouldn’t be big enough to replant. Mine aren’t big enough until late August.
