Many things to respect about your video; the fastener ID and count, parts layout do help. Drip pan: I use a cement mixing pan that is large and short, they stand up to sunlight and have sustained for over 10 years of mechanical work. The bonded gaskets are best, the exact known thickness is worth the additional expense. Best of luck.
That fluid was so dark, I wasn't sure if you were opening the engine oil at first. After years of dealing with rusted, seized Torx fasteners on Jeeps, I find them to be the work of the devil.
I had overdrive light 02 Explorer there a lot stuff like seat beat sensor I clean didn’t help change transmission fluid didn’t help change transfer case fluid spray speed sensor with carb clean through fill hole didn’t work clean throttle body sensor and wipe out with rage seems to work the transmission adaptive learning system needs clean transmission fluid in transfer case clean sensor change transmission fluid and clean tps sensor throttle body didn’t help I noticed if I shift manually 1 to 2 3 gear work great I kept shifting manually and it seems fixed. I will drain transmission one more time and cycle transmission gears manually. Didn’t work. I read that the wire harnesses can cause overdrive light I did clean the valve pack connector and seems to work longer before light on. The overdrive servo mid drive is difficult to remove to check. Time to turn into lawn ornaments. It did go 190 k but rest truck falling apart. Well after thinking about tps I decided to replace fuel filter since I had bought the truck used. The fuel filter was original 20 year old filter. I tested truck today and no overdrive light blinking. Mmmm
Hello friend, how can I find it? The kit. Complete everything. What you changed to the ford Explorer. I have a 2005 and the same thing happens to me. It turns on. O/d off. And it slips. Could you help me? With what I need to buy. And watching your videos. He managed to do the job. They are the best. Excellent work.
had an 02 mountaineer with that issue. and i had to let my foot off the gas from 1st to 2nd gear for it to change gears. I drove it like that for many years. then one day I hit a deer and my comp on my insurance totaled it out. with 190k miles they gave me a check for 3,500 for a suv i paid 1,500 for. I also drove it from 2012 to 2018.
Going be pulling out both think down road cause just great body interior is little rough but to expensive new stuff rather fine something you can still get parts for most places
*Hey A21Bravo - when you're installing/replacing the entire transmission/torque converter exactly how much transmission fluid is needed for this vehicle?*
i got an 05 ford explorer running 15 years on the same engine same trans 130,000 miles just hit today... my O/D light is blinking after about 5 to 10 miles sometimes not at all... took it to the transmission shop and they test drove it said there is no slipping but the computer is pulling up an issue that says my converter is going bad and the clutch might be slipping slightly... its only been maybe 250 miles since the O/D light has been blinking... would that be the cause with the converter? would it be best to replace that and the clutch aswell as the trans solenoid, gasket and transmission filter? i think in all would be about $500 in parts... engine is still a baby... any advice would be greatly appreciated...
@@hernandezfam2011 the explorer is long gone now.. but i took it to a transmission shop and they said it wont happen again... like they knew exactly what was wrong but never told me... might have been a loose plug or something. sorry i cant help on this matter. they also said it was a temp warning. and after that, it never happened again.
I was having same issue after I replaced my whole transmission. I thought it was because I accidentally put the wrong fluid in it, so I replaced the torque converter thinking that it was damaged internally by the wrong fluid and when I pulled it out it actually smelled burnt and the fluid was dark. Threw a new torque converter a the correct fluid, no success, issue was happening just as before. Now, did the valve body gasket replacement fixed it? That would be my next try. Thanks
At that point these 5r55 are french garbage either try your luck with Lucas and if it works sell it or just see if you can either find a manual transmission out of the 02 sport or get an adapter plate and put a aod or something else cheap and significantly less shit. I have a 02 4x4 xlt with the ohc v6 and 5r55 the trans was starting to slip real bad in reverse and 1st and then linkage broke on both ends ( shitty pot metal don't like the cold weather too much ) so What I'm gonna do is either manual or c4/c6 and 302 swap or 4.6 and manual or a less shit much cheaper auto (c4 either way or maybe a beefed up aod)
@@dakkadakka9189 Or put a 6R60 in it. The problem is that they only came on the 4.6 3 valve engines which was not the best engine Ford built. There’s a Sport Trac with a Coyote swap.
My wife had a 03 doing the same thing and we drove it for a long while with it flashing and I did those tricks but still had to take it out and rebuild
I found out that my transmission Pump is about to fail, but i don't want to rebuild the transmission (isnt worth it on a 2005 ford explorer). What can i do to extent the lifespan of my pump? I already did 2x drop the pan and changed the fluid and i changed the filter. Would be very happy if anybody could tell me if that is all i can do or could give me an additional advice :)
