I had an Explorer once. I kid you not, I learned the meaning of FORD = Fix Or Replace Daily. That thing spent more time in the shop than it did out on the road or trail.
@@kylerable1651 The transfer case on my '02 XLT went out before the tranny....tire shop put the wrong sized tires on the rear end (I was only getting the rear replaced, put on 245s instead of 235s) and it completely messed up the 4X4 Auto System, eventually burning out the transfer case. Had the transmission rebuilt at the same time as the transfer case (transmission was fine, the shop just thought the tranny was going out)
I think that's the problem with most vehicles these days. The shops don't care about your vehicles as much as you do. they screw up more than most know. I've tried many. I do it myself now. And who knows what previous owners did to mine. It wasn't very well maintained.
Those acronyms are inaccurate. My favorite is Just Empty Every Pocket.... I never had to do anything to my 8 or so Fords until they reached about 120k. All autos have problems sooner or later.
You were lucky then. We had a 2004 Ford with the 6 cylinder and it developed every single issue the older ones were known for. Right down to the cracked tail gate. Very comfortable though.
Just Empty Every Pocket refers to Jeep owners falling in love with their Jeeps and spending a bunch of money on a major custom build. It doesn't refer to repairs. The 87'-01' Jeep Cherokee had the most bombproof powertrain in automobile history with the Jeep 4.0L Engine, AW4 Transmission, & the NP231 Transfer Case.
@@seahorse5677 Yep, I have an '02 Grand Cherokee 4.0 and over 210K on engine, very minimal maintenance, prior owner had to rebuild the auto at around 128K ....not horrible mileage for trans rebuild ...not great...... 2wd daily....
