The main section of this former Georgian mansion 'Grenade Hall' was completed in 1818 and owned by the Briggs Family. in 1856 it was expanded and renamed Farley Hill after a school in England.
In 1957, the house was used in the film 'Island in the Sun' but was destroyed by fire.

@@journeyswithj246 I finally watched "Island in the Sun". It was nice getting to know Dorothy Dandridge. I can't help but think why, they did not pick a Barbadian woman to play her role? Nonetheless Dorothy was a star and she executed her role flawlessly. It was nice to see what the carnival was like during that time. Despite the racial tension that was present some people were quite open minded. A fun fact I learnt was that the movie was was based on a fictional island and filmed in Barbados and Grenada.

FYI, "large quantities of flammable wood" is all that's used in all Canadian homes. 😆

Thanks for watching. Yes in American homes as well. I am sure however there are some standards that are in place in Canadian homes that don't exist in Barbadian homes today far less in the 1950s.
