I used to hang out there when I was a kid in my teens. 40+ years ago. At night it was creepy and a great place for us. Great memories thanks for reminding me about that place!
The story of this place is much darker. Several children fell victim to something evil there. The towns people started turning on each other. It was thought to be witch covens but they didn't solve it. At least 11 kids. Very sad.
I was there a few years ago on a field trip I took by myself. It appears there is only one house occupied, and the store/church/post office/meeting house seems to have been worked on. The other houses were exactly as pictured here, rough, rotted, some covered with tarps. At the very end of the road however is a building that appears to have undergone a lot of restoration work. it is very sound, roof and walls intact. Outside is a wooden hand cart with wheels fastened in place so it cant be moved. I read somewhere at the time that this particular building can be rented for parties and meetings, even weddings. All in all though the place seems very gloomy and has seen better days. They are intent on restoring a lot of the houses but there is a lack of funds, naturally. If I had the available funds, I would definitely restore the place and make it into a sort of museum village although it might not be such a good idea in today's world. Not many young people out there have an interest in history or anything educational.
That place is pretty cool. I was out there about 2 years ago with my daughter. Theres a little cemetery out there also. Theres only like 3 or 4 headstones if I remember correctly.
Interesting tour at this past village. Thanks for your filming series, I'm beginning to learn more about NJ after a few months stay in Chatham (1975). Back then, I asked myself as to why NJ had so many trees? Shortly after my first visit to Ellis Island Museum (July 2014), I was lucky to survive a heart attack in Jersey City possibly from a spiritual connection.
The sheer amount of ruins.. Its just incredible. This reminds me a lot of long pond iron works. And while you are there check out Ringwood Manor and nj botanical gardens just up the road.
HAHA! This is the one I go to. I just mentioned on your other video that you should stop by there. I've had eerie incidents happen. I lost my keys then suddenly found them on top of a gravestone when nobody else was around. I've heard footsteps behind me on more than one occasion, and while hiking those woods felt like I was being followed. That whole area of the mountains is known for being haunted.
I saw your other comment and I was going to tell you about this one! This place is definitely eerie! At one point in this video, I approach one of the houses and the light turns on...
@@RayOutThere OMG that's so creepy and I believe you! That area is owned by the county, so maybe it was someone that was supposed to be there doing it, or maybe not! O.O
Ray, such a spooky place!👍👍👍 Did you ever see a channel FrankoTV? The guy lives in Florida but he travels all over the country exploring interesting places and does paranormal investigations. I would have LOVED to see a collaboration between you and Frank doing some of your unique places in the night time! That I am sure would be spectacular!
@@RayOutThere We have VAPI group here in Virginia, in Yorktown - also VERY DECENT SERIOUS PEOPLE. Most of those channels, unfortunately, are fake, but there are a few one can trust. If you decide that you would like to try - reach to VAPI or Franko 😆
Who tf changed that light bulb? Why did they change that light bulb? Who’s the bill coming to, to keep that light bulb on? When was modern power sent to that secluded area?
LOL Its park of Watchung Reservation, it's owned by the county. They restored a couple of the buildings and also there is a house right there that people live in to this day.
At 9:22 your walking up to the 2nd house the light is off first then turns on and at 10:27 when your walking over to the other house in the woods you see something walking
10:27 is just another person walking around. It's a public hiking area and there were other people there that day. But I didn't notice the light turning on! That's crazy
I live around the corner, been hiking and hunting here for years. The parks really taken a beating from visitors and littering / parties especially at the "ruins" waterhole now. Sad. Is what it is, tho. Gotta love the internet
Yes, this is a large hiking reserve with many trails throughout it. On this trip I parked at Seeley's Pond picnic area to look at the first set of ruins. Then I parked at the Sky Top Drive parking lot and took the Sierra Trail to the village. For quick access to the village, you can park at a lot on Cataract Hollow Road off of Glenside Ave, which is Exit 44 off of Rt 78. From there its a short walk down the road to the village. I highly recommend checking out the Watchung Reservation!
Just look at those old houses falling down and some still standing with the windows boards over.No telling what happened to the sisters it could be anything
Who's the guy speaking Spanish(?) really fast and loud like -right next to you at 11:05-11:06? Then he says "If we go 250 50" at 11:11-11:12. Was he with you? It's the only time someone's voice is heard throughout the whole thing. If you were alone then his voice is way up there with the loudest evps I ever heard and I wonder how you did not even hear it. Oh geez then a few minutes later you show us the pictures and info about the Mexican murals. It figures.
Those voices were other people walking around in the area. This place is along an active hiking trail and there were other people checking out the buildings that day.
