My grandfather was a prisoner of world war 2. He was put to work at the coal mines of Kyushu in 1944. He was working underground in the mine, approximately 20 miles away, when the bomb dropped on Nagasaki. A week later he was liberated.
@@KydeandEricHighlights Mitsubishi owned the prison camp coal mines. There was a class action lawsuit in the early 2000's but it's hard to find any information on it. Seems like history is being scrubbed.
It was quite interesting to watch a visit to this coal mine .Very well explained. I visited a coal mine in Hokaido Povince in 1982.It was being operated by Mitsubishi. They were not extracting coal but maintaining the mine to exract coal to fuel their coal fired power stations in case of emergency only. Muhammad Younos Raz Mining Engineer
