So much was left behind. Makes you wonder what did happen to this family. It's strange that some of the bedrooms looked more preserved and cleaner. Thank you for showing us this chateau.

I'm always amazed at the total contradiction in the beds being made - someone cared enough about their home to make their beds - but then everything being abandoned and left behind.

Ivy is actually known to be very invasive. It can actually ruin house foundations and walls that's why it's able to come into the house without that window being open. Often times people who have houses with Ivy surrounding, they have a maintenance team taking care of it because of how invasive it is. Ivy is quite beautiful but will absolutely not hesitate to ruin a house's walls and foundation. This is something i learned in a horticultural class i took in school. So the info is accurate lol

At 24:07,give or take a few seconds, there is a definite orb that passes,then dims out,right in front of your camera as you turn from the old letter,to view the room again. Total orbage,not dust! 😜🥰

So I watched Dale from Escape go through there and thought WOW it looks great. Then also part of the same trip Adam of Adam Mark Explores went through and the secret staircase you thought went to the attic actually went to one of the bedrooms. So he showed something different. Then you come along and introduce us to the moat. I had no idea there had been a moat. I would be like let's make it a little deeper add the water back and make a lazy river around that place. Thanks for also taking your time and really looking at the place. I hope Jeremy got his money back. Also that was a billiard table. They don't have pockets like a pool table. The idea is to bank shots. I believe you have to do that without hitting your opponents balls

I live in France and Switzerland. The first thing you learn as a little kid is to identify the stinging nettles. They are all over. I've been stung many times. Same goes with the bees. The local French bees will land on your food, especially meats and cut off chunks then fly away. Glad I'm not allergic. Safe travels!

That contraption in the kitchen looks like a thing to pump water from the ground.
@davepetrakos475
@davepetrakos475 Год назад
Your favorite furniture piece is a form of a fainting couch As others have said, carom. It is a billiard game played with a few balls. Think of playing horse on a basketball court. Kitchen had the well pump in it. The letter with a photo on it was written before the nazi invasion The bed was older than TV. (The one with tall head & foot boards) A home like that would have had an entire family. So, the smaller beds were for the child of the parents (who are living with their parents in the house they grew up in) using the full size bed. Also, the hierarchy in build materials usually lessens as you get farther from the front door. But this is not to say the floor is weaker, just the craftsmanship and details. I wish you showed more of the herringbone floor in the master bedroom and less of the pink walls. The description below the framed sketch would have been interesting, as would the fireplace (original cooking) in the kitchen. I wouldn't be surprised if the house was over 200 years old. Old growth wood is incredibly strong and resilient so long as you step above joists. The trees surrounding the structure have helped filter dust from entering over the decades. I know of a cow barn built in the 1920s. You would never guess it was a barn from outside as it has timber and stucco, leaded glass windows and very ornamental details in beautiful roof lines. It's build cost was a million dollars and was known around the world as the million dollar barn. It even has a basement and elevator.

Some pool tables do not have pockets because they are used for a different type of cue sport called carom billiards. During a carom billiards game, players maintain three object balls on the table at all times and use different strategies to score points. This category includes games such as straight rail, balkline, one-cushion, three-cushion and artistic billiards.

Thanks for the all your hard work you do for us. For your info: Back in the day it was not okey for ladies to rest on the bed during the day , (?) that’s why they had these extended armchair called ’chaise longue’, or ’long chair’. It’s nice to see the date on old newspaper and letters. So maybe you could film those for a second on your next video. Gives that extra wow-feeling. The letter on the desk, next to the picture was from 1936! Every time I see places like this it ’s really sad to see valuable antique stuff, furniture, mirrors -everything, just left behind unloved and forgotten. Do you think you will end up i one of these Chateaux one day ? Perhaps running your own antique shop and B&B (Got the same initials…) Have a safe trip back to the States. Take care. It's a full bed (possibly called a double) and the TYPE of bed is a sleigh bed. And what hurts me most is all that wasted wood that we'll never get back. Usually if it's really good art, it's being or will be saved by someone. Wood on the other can't be grown fast enough to give back to us...and then people don't do quality wood carving anymore.

That could be fixed up. Moat just needs a goat to clean it up . Then a boat to float around In and if that don't float your boat, then make yourself a fishing pond. Can you dig it ? Or a pool. There's a pool table in the house.

Bankz, billiards is a whole different game from pool but they use similar tables. However billiards tables have no pockets. "Billiards is played on a table without pockets. The game only has three balls, which are red, white (with a spot), and another white one (without a spot). The various games are referred to as carom billiards, or pocketless billiards."
