On the road I come across an ABANDONED NEIGHBORHOOD, bankrupted and left to rot away. Houses here are still in great shape and it was a real surprise to see that there was still quit a few things left inside. I also found evidence of people living in some of them, which is no surprise at all. Enjoy!

I use to live on Guernsey Trail where this video took place. Nothing is haunted, nobody went bankrupt so stupid... we simply could not resist the offer from Cary Medical so we all sold on the same day. On the last day with the street lined with moving trucks we had a block party in the street. It was a very sad day as most owners were original to when the street was built and our kids grew up together. One by one each moving truck pulled out away from what we once called home to disperse to the left and to the right on Kildaire Farm Rd to start our new life in a new neighborhood. It's very sad to drive down the street and see was once called home trashed from people with no respect.

Just to clarify to the newer posters, they did not abandon their homes and were not bankrupt. This was a block buy out by a medical company and it was redeveloped. It seems they all got a good deal way above market value and moved on to continue their lives. Now a medical centre and supporting buildings are on the land. I hope wherever the previous home owners moved to, it was not near such a noisy road as that would drive me nuts :)

It costs ALOT to maintain a home. There’s a reason we don’t shell out abandoned homes to the homeless. One, most aren’t safe, and if one is, it will likely become unsafe quickly. Someone has to pay for water, electricity, sewage, maintenance upkeep, property tax, mold remediation. The sad fact is that many homeless aren’t capable of handling those responsibilities. I mean look at how the people who were living in that house treated it. Tearing things off the house to burn.
@lesliedeana5142
@lesliedeana5142 4 года назад
@@GlurglePop I think though, instead of letting things rot, if they were given the house, and as long as they tried to maintain it, things would be a LOT better. Many people would LOVE to have a home, with pride, but just can't get the down payment.... Many could keep it once they got it. it's just the 'getting it' is the problem. And, just because someone is 'homeless' doesn't mean they are bad people, it could be lost money for medical, divorce, etc. Given the chance, they could become homeowners, and even rent out a room or two to keep things going. Just letting something nice deteriorate does no one good.
@patriciagaskins5732

I went out there today (12/8/2018) because youtube randomly suggested this video yesterday. The entire street/neighborhood is gone and replaced by Wake Med, which is an extension of the hospital across the street. It's close to finished but still under construction. The name of the street has been changed to something like Wake Med Drive but Google still has it listed a Guernsey Trail. I live in Raleigh now but grew up in Cary, so it was neat to see this video capture a neighborhood much like the one I grew up in.

OJ McClanahan- WTF are you talking about, "abandoned for 20 years"? The last families moved out in December of 2016. These homes haven't even been abandoned for an entire year yet, much less 20 of them. The building of the nursing home and medical facility has already started. And that police tape isn't from a "murder scene", it was put up by the landowners/developers to keep some idiot from falling through the missing floor and into the basement and suing them for millions of dollars. The floors were ripped up due to asbestos being used in the construction. You aren't allowed to just demolish buildings full of asbestos, the asbestos has to be carefully removed before demolition so you aren't launching billions of cancerous asbestos particles into the air for everyone within 20 miles to inhale.

We do, there are articles about this area on the internet. A big developer wanted to buy the property and the hospital across the street wants to put in senior housing. All the neighbors agreed to sell, and moved out. They were likely well compensated, and most of the building materials from the houses were donated to Habitat for Humanity. No real mysteries here. From what I hear, there is a large sign at the end of the road telling exactly what is going on, but none of the videos I've seen show it.

Shit that was my first thought when this video started. That fucking highway noise is INCREDIBLY loud and would last all fucking day long and some of the night. Judging by the interiors, some of those places were built in the late 70's/early 80's, so I'm kind of amazed that there were never any noise barriers built in all the years those homes were there. @Surrfside24
@Surrfside24 4 года назад
just to make more sense of it for ya, it wasn't always that noisy, there used to be lot more trees between the highway and the houses but they tore a bunch down in 2015. and a noise barrier wasn't a good option for the location, i know this video poster made it seem like this wasn't in a busy area but this actually sits in the heart of a very busy commercial zone and that highway has a alot developed on it and expected lots of more growth so be pointless to build a wall on it since we'd end up tearing it down shortly after for more constructions.

"The entire neighborhood agreed to put their entire community up for sale as commercial property. The reason for this, some neighbors are saying, is because Cary has experienced such rapid development. Twenty years ago, that area of Kildaire Farms Road wasn't so busy and built up. Unhappy with the fast pace of growth, but not always able to afford to just up and move, sometimes neighborhoods create this kind of solution. So the rapid expansion of Cary is partially to blame. These are nice houses -- according to Zillow, many are worth between $250-300k. The company that bought the neighborhood is planning to raze the houses and build a senior living community."

If anybody is curious, this place was torn down a couple years ago. Probably not too much later after this video was posted. It’s all gone forever. Daniel Bowens, So the city bought all the land from the guy who built all the houses right after he finished building all the houses? But I thought people had been living in the houses for a while before having to leave. If that is so then were they renting the homes or did they buy the homes? Too many unanswered questions! You people need to realize that if those people did not budge, then the company would have aimed for imminent domain, and if they would have won then everyone in that neighborhood would have gotten bottom dollar. The payoff the city would have received to force those people out would have been an obscene amount of cash, and the neighbors would have walked away with chump change. The only reason they didn't do imminent domain on the last 2 houses is because it would have not been worth it, so they paid them 20 times what the houses and properties were worth just to get them out!

Wow so much wrong with this comment it's laughable. First off, it is eminent domain and second it only applies to government claiming land to improve infrastructure or benefit society as a whole (think roads, fire houses, police stations, schools). Last I checked there is not a single payer health system in America. Bottom line is the homeowners scored a huge payout to make it not worth their while to fight or stay. It may have been a sad day but they are living the American dream and quite well at that.

Eminent domain can only be issued by the government. It is a VERY abused system, fraught with corruption, under market compensation to property owners, payoffs to political cronies, typical of the way government operates. In this instance, it appears this community was bought out by a private corporation. In that case, they were likely compensated very well for their homes.

From my experience, working as a mortgage loan officer, these houses were in foreclosure. We are looking at what happens when the banks lent them more than they could really afford. It all falls apart when real life kicks in and their regular bills starts to come in, like medical co-payments and a new baby is born etc..These people are angry and hurt and demoralised when this happens and sometimes they get a little carried away and take things like cupboards, toilet seats, just stuff. It's sad, these poor people were lied to and were so proud they could afford so much money to be able to buy the house they only ever dreamed of. I blame the banks and the greedy loan officers that encouraged this. This has caused these families a lot of heart ache and they will not be able to finance anything again for at least 7-10 years because this foreclosure is on their credit. .The saddest thing is now these homes are abandoned and falling to pieces when the owners could have stayed there and the banks could have renegotiated their mortgage down to something they could afford and all would be well. But no, the banks were rigid and are now losing what was a beautiful asset. Now they get nothing. I feel sorry for the people and have no sympathy for the banks/banks.

I'm glad you left your first comment. That is very valuable information and you may have saved some readers a lot of trouble in the future. The town where I live has lost thousands of factory jobs but has grown like nobody's business. There are houses in the million and up price range and I wonder who lives in them and those people pay for the houses. Many smaller homes have been built and condos and LOTS of apartment buildings as we have a university in town. The apartments are expensive and, in my opinion, luxurious. I guess affluent parents are paying at least some of the rent. Sooner or later the building will have to stop. I wonder how many houses, condos and apartments are empty even now.

It will vary in volume, but it probably won't lose more helium. Helium expands with heat and contracts with cold. Expansion limits have likely already been reached since it has gone through at least one seasonal cycle, so they have likely deflated (as in gas loss) as much as they will due to over-expansion (and they may not actually have deflated in that way all if the pressure hasn't been sufficient to escape the envelope.). A deflation, (as in volume decrease by cooling) won't affect it's lift capacity in a fixed air pressure environment However, if released into the atmosphere, the balloon will likely eventually explode because the higher it goes, the lower the relative external air pressure, the volume of the helium may expand beyond the strength of the envelope.

I used to own a house a couple of blocks from where this was filmed. It's fascinating to look back on it now, especially the comments on this neighborhood's decline.

I used to live minutes from Cary & I imagine it's the cost of living there. Everything in that town, Raleigh & neighboring towns/counties is the same. I really pray that wherever these families relocated they're in a good, safe place. It's sad that pay is so much lower than the cost of living. It's sad too say but a lot of people are just a paycheck or 2 from being homeless. 😢💔😢 May God Bless & Protect Us All! 💜👣

If you know anything about Cary NC you know that it is a very expensive high end residential City to live in so they must of spent a pretty penny to buy all these houses that they left vacant.

bbygrlpt2 it’s not in the middle of nowhere. This guy just made it seem that way. It’s right in the middle of a very busy, popular shopping area. Very high end. Nothing weird here, although it is extremely creepy there. I live down the road, been there a couple times. And to the person saying it’s got good and trashy parts... ummm what part of Cary is trashy? Yes there’s the occasional mobile home, but all of Cary is expensive af

Does that suggest that someone bought out all the families who lived there and then ran into trouble, and then the hospital group bought the land. That makes more sense than anything else...

The older house on Kildare Rd, across the street from Wake-Med/Cary, was beautiful. I think that hunk of property in front was originally a horse farm. The cul-d-sac was behind the manor style house. I wouldn't be surprised if a doctor or two were already living in those houses when the offer was made. They are now in the process of finishing up construction projects on the property. That highway behind is US 64.

magnum has been buying the homes since 2014 and plans on building a medical center and retirement facility on the propertys and its sad to me that once again millonares have decided to destroy a beautiful neighborhood for money ! But the homeowners sold out so I guess greed has taken hold of both sides, the homes were ripped apart by habitat for humanity so they can sell the stuff off to help fund there projects but the busted windows were from vandals .

I'm wondering if there might have been the possibility of eminent domain. Maybe some residents wanted to stay there but would have had the property taken from the against their wishes so it could be used for a new purpose. That happened in the area where I live and where a new highway is being built.

I follow one explore that actually called a wall sconce a " wall chandelier" lol. Anyway I am so happy that I found your channel! Not many, or you would know that most homeless simply do NOT want a home & prefer to live free on the streets for whatever their reason. Some have dropped out of society. Some are mentally ill. Some are running from the law. Many different reasons.

Abandoned places always give me creepy feelings... You should check videos about Chernobyl, 30 years later.. Ghost town. Everything detorirated of course... it's horrible. People had to be evacueted very rapidly, left their pets home (weren't allowed to take them ). They thought that they are leaving town just for 2-3 days. They had no clue that they leaving their homes forever.....

Just because the floor was torn out, doesn't mean that it was a crime scene...there's nothing to indicate a crime scene....and if the previous owners took their flooring (which seems excessive, but possible if it was an expensive marble or some such) then they may have out the tape up to warn anyone that went into the home to be careful...
