Designed by Mr. Goldie in 1877, the church has a rich history that dates back to its humble beginnings in a small chapel on Caroline Street. Over the years, it underwent several rebuilds to accommodate a growing congregation, with the final build able to house hundreds of worshippers.
The adjoining Presbytery, once home to three priests, now stands empty, a shadow of its former self. Despite its derelict state, St Joseph's still retains its Grade II listed status, a testament to its architectural significance.
As we step inside the church, we are greeted by the remnants of its past - crumbling walls, faded frescoes. Nature has begun to reclaim this sacred space, casting a haunting beauty over the decay.
