I returned to a recent lake I found on google maps for and overnight fishing adventure. I felt as if the previous trip didn't allow for enough time to truly explore the lake. Always great to get an overnighter in.
Have you thought about adding a dogger in front of your lure? It would add some nice action, and you could get one pretty cheap, and it makes a difference in my experience. Went north on Saturday and got two nice lakers, but when I was trying to get my line free from the downrigger, my rod snapped. Most I could figure was that somehow the line got wrapped around the release. Oh well, that's life sometimes.
Thanks for the info. I have one set up with a green dodger. Picked up a really nice char on Long Lake with it. Still trying to figure out what colors work for what situation now that I have a few go to Lures. This year has been a massive learning curve and that will continue into the hard water season. Going to go chase Pike tomorrow and see how many I can wrangle up. Next weekend I’m doing a Lakers/Grayling trip up north and hopefully I will have the downrigger completely dialed in for that one. Sorry to hear about the rod man. At least you were out fishing!
@907shots9 I'm going to make a basspro run this Saturday in hopes of replacing it. I have had a downrigger for a couple of years now, and I'm still learning.
