I 1st new about this location over a year ago till I noticed people got in and I thought I go back and got in and it looked small from the outside and inside was huge and I was shocked how much was still left there with tables and chairs left there and lovey Court rooms and also holding cells down in the basement

Magistrates’ Court to close
The Magistrates’ Court will close in a matter of weeks.
A document shared by the Ministry of Justice shows plans to close the court between April and June.
With a yearly cost of £347,000 and only 15% usage, it comes as part of the department’s ongoing programme to close courts to reduce maintenance and running costs The court was named as one of three courts in The Area along with Magistrates’ Court and County and Family Court, at risk of closure, in 2015.
Since then, activity there has steadily decreased with the Ministry of Justice recording only a 15% utilisation rate in 2014/2015. Many hearings including inquests have been transferred to The other Magistrates Court The Magistrates’ Court and County and Family Court both closed in 2016.

The news
comes as concerns have been raised about the state of high street in the wake of the St Development.
A car park with 40 spaces on the site will provide parking for 36 of the flats, with the four extra spaces being reserved for a “car club” scheme.
The developers suggest that those living in flats without a parking space who do not use the car club could use the pay and display car park across the road.
There are also plans to include bike racks with space for 68 bicycles on the ground floor. County Council’s Senior Development Planner commented: “The amount of car parking proposed is acceptable in this town centre location and the proposed servicing arrangements are acceptable.”
The court dealt with a few notable cases when it was still in use, including the 10-day trial of the export company Channel Livestock and its owner Tom in February 2014.
Lomas was ordered to pay Trading Standards £5,000 in costs, with Channel Livestock fined £4,000 as well as £10,000 costs after dozens of sheep had to be slaughtered after being found severely lame during exportation.
