Believe it or not I am old enough to close my eyes and see the house as it was. To me 50 years isn't that long ago. A blink of an eye. You do such lovely footage. 🌏♥️
I'm not as old as you are, however, I have a love and respect for this kind of thing, and it angers me to see how some people who have nothing better to do does this crap. I love the the way this house looks, so majestic so magical only to be ruined by POS who need to be locked up.
I completely agree! LIFE in general , goes by faster than you can Imagine! So try to focus on every happy moment in your every day life! It’s IMPORTANT !☺️❤️
I'm living that now, 65. Life feels Forever to 18, and 20's Bulletproof, 30's Nothing Feels Impossible, 40s Need a Plan, 50's Push Back on that Senior Thing, 60's Oh No It's Here.
@@rome79735 I agree with you 🙄 such a mesmerising place that holds a whole history behind it ruined by a bunch of delinquents... I hope they get what they deserve.
@@cathy-70 Wasn't the case for me unfortunately. I turned 18 and I fail believe it's 2022 already... I'm still stuck in 2019 , how come 3 years passed in a flash 😬 I lost track of time at this point , months go by and everything feels so recent... I miss the days where i felt every minute of my day... I feel like the older I get the worse it becomes😪
There are different levels of humans, and right now we have an overabundance of very low vibrational beings on the planet. I live in a very scenic area, and the streets are littered horribly with fast food trash people throw out of their cars. I believe the new "cool" thing to do must be to go grab something to eat, eat it in the car, then throw all the trash out the window. Save the planet? Are you kidding me? These people only care about where to get the money to go buy more fast food and gasoline so they can repeat the process.
@@williamjeffreys2980 I wish those people would be forced to live in a landfill for a week, perhaps a month. Then maybe they'll have a better appreciation for not littering.
Oh my god! Why on earth would anyone destroy someone else’s property like that, abandoned or not? Just the books alone could’ve been saved for other book lovers, donated to a library or school. So much of that estate could’ve been saved to rebuild a gorgeous home. The stone work is simply amazing. It just doesn’t make any sense. Thank you for sharing your trip there with us.
Rich people buy up tons of land and then don't properly remove the buildings and no one else can live there because the rich own it all and you're mad at paint on rocks
Can you imagine the time it took not only to gather all the rock, but to fit each one together for ascetics and structure???? Such beauty and grandeur reduced to ruins because no one cares. 😢😢
Thanks for saving me some tapping. I LOVE dry rock fencing. The choice of rock has to be perfect to work without Any mortar or cement. It's a rare skill & I don't have it. Just honour them with photos and beginning to paint them too.
So sad to see such a magnificent, old place destroyed like this. I guess I’ve never understood what makes certain people need to wreck something just because they can.
Abercrombie’s extended family doesn’t have the money to restore it. But, it’s selling for 3.2 million dollars and because it’s in NY state, it’s property taxes are 109k a year. If I had Bruce Wayne’s or Tony starks money, I would definitely take it on.
@@endofsociety New York is Broke, you would have to be an idiot to invest any money in that crap hole state . The commies in that state have ruined it, and now they take their stupid anti God anti-US democrat/communist politics with them as they leave their blue states into red states... idiots....
Mr Abercrombie had no clue that decades later, his beautiful castle would be completely decimated. It really angers me that idiots have no respect for such an amazing piece of art and history. This castle is an absolute gem. Great job! (I'm newly subscribed and have seen two vids so far). Love your content and cant wait to see so much more! Thanks!

@@BowenOrg Was on the market last year as is $3.2 million 55 acres abandoned for years due to multiple tragedies & deaths in the family www.priceypads.com/abercrombie-fitch-cofounders-abandoned-1920s-castle-drops-to-3-2m-photos/
The biggest tragedy is the vandalism. There's so much of it. Those who do this have no respect for others, and they have no self respect... I'm sure at one point, this place was magnificent and beautiful.
I hate, hate, hate when punk kids destroy such amazing beauty, it's really heartbreaking, Thanks for bringing this video to us, very interesting, but damn those vandals
I agree, it makes me sad to see vandalism and graffiti everywhere in this place. I'm glad he made this video shared this marvelous home with us though.
Been here a bunch of times, most recently 2019. I've been in contact with alot of the family members and past owners. It sucks to see what it's become even in the last 2 years. It's insane how trashed it is.
@@BowenOrg The back taxes are the killers. Good luck at hunting down the owners. You can go to House of Deeds for the area and they will tell you the people who paid the taxes last on the place. There should be a title place as well. Just check those two places out and you will get the info you seek. Remember there is no real road to the place I think. You have to remove all the trees. The court house should know the address's of the Titles and also the taxes are paid at the court house. You just need the address.
This castle was owned by my great uncle for several decades, he was a scientist. I spent time here as a child in the 90's before it was was sold and no longer lived in. Have some very cool pictures of my family there over the years. At one point Michael Jackson was supposedly looking into buying the property. Some of your info on the castle is inaccurate. Feel free to contact me if you're interested in knowing more.
@Talie Perry I'd like to know the truth about this place. It's so elegant and it's such a shame to be left in such ruin. Could it be declared as a historical landmark?
@@deb8534 that’s an interesting question! Someone would have to contact the Ossining historical society I suppose. It was an ambitious project even when my family was there (not in great shape) and to see it now is truly devastating.
@Talie Perry, I can only imagine, and may I offer you my sympathy? It has to be akin to watching a family member die a slow death. It would be for me if I had fond memories of growing up there. How many years did you visit your great uncle there?
Such a sad thing to see, it was clearly incredible not too long ago. Upstate NY has/had many unique homes like this built by wealthy business moguls in the early 20th century. The beautiful NY mountains were one of several east coast seasonal getaway playgrounds for them. People buying these properties today then letting them succumb to weather & vandalism is mind boggling & meanly wasteful. (The left split road was probably the home's service & delivery entrance; the large main hall with the gorgeous iron windows was a ballroom with an orchestra stage.)
The castle must had been built before 1937 because Abercrombie died in 1931. His parents were Scottish hence the Scots Baronial style castle. Great vid of the castle.
First time seeing your vids and let me say - AMAZING!! As a viewer what I truly appreciate is how much you take the viewer into consideration. You don't rush through and instead take time pause so that we, too, can take it in and absorb the space as if we are exploring too. Also, the added historical pics made a terrific addition for context. Your tone, patience, speed of presentation, editing is exceptional. Subscribed! Way to go buddy!
You know you have reached the pinnacle of success when you can build a castle for your home. It's a shame to see such a wonderful place abandoned a decaying. Good job, thanks for sharing this amazing estate.
this channel is such a treasure, i write fiction as a bit of a hobby and getting a chance to see glimpses of forgotten architecture, forgotten stories, forgotten objects is all so beautiful and entracing, thanks very much for devoting a channel to urban exploration set up in this way, i will definitely be digging into your back catalogue for inspiration going forward
I live about 20 minutes from Ossining. The place was actually in use till 2011, used as a conference center which didn’t do well financially. That owner sold it to its current owners in late 2011, who haven’t decided what to do with the place yet.

This place is totally awesome. The rock work and metal work is stunning. I can just imagine the people (Teddy Roosevelt) and others that use to visit here. The lavish parties that were held and the gentlemen going out to hunt. If I had the money I would buy it and redo all of it. Bring it back into it's once beautiful state. Thank you for videoing it. A real treat.
why is this amazing structure not saved? I absolutely love this place and I'm so sad no one wants it. way better than the cookie-cutter mansions of today.

There's this amazing log cabin in southern Ohio, around Ripley, it's a two and a half story cabin, made out of logs that are more than 2 feet in diameter. The fireplace is eight feet wide and four feet deep. It has a spiral staircase. It's awesome. The owner won't do anything with it, I tried time and time again to get him to rent it,I offered to do the repairs to the plumbing and electric, but he wouldn't. 20 years ago it was still in decent shape. Nowadays it's pretty run down and pretty much not with restoring anymore

What a beautiful property. It is such a disgrace that people couldn’t have more respect for the place...it looks like it had a full library, that just got trashed, probably by vandals..if people would have came, looked, prowled, and left it the way they found it, i bet it would have still been remarkable, after all these years. The bones of the place are really amazing, even in such a state of neglect and vandalization. Thanks for this tour.
The staircase to the very top was probably one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done. Walking up the stairs from Generations ago looking down that steep roof. Other than that, the place was absolutely beautiful, too bad it's condition. Definitely an enjoyable Place, great video
so sad that people feel the need to trash places like this. I would love to buy an old cool house like this and restore it. Really like the medieval vibes
It’s cool to look at the ruined building and imagine it in pristine condition in the 1940s when Mr. Abercrombie lived there. When he walked into that great big ball room area I could just imagine some nice violin music playing while guests talked amongst each other.
What an amazing place, stunning from the outside, wow takes your breath away, such a shame it's been ruined on the inside with so much graffiti, but still such an awesome place, the size of those chimney stacks, they are huge. The photos of before are amazing, so nice when you show these you kind of get the feel of the place then, thank you for an amazing video, loved this one, that sunset too was fab. Nice to see you back.
Great place to explore!! I really enjoy the history you narrate before you enter any of the buildings. Also, I really like the 'before' photos you include. It really helps to visualize how beautiful this place was. Too bad there is so much vandalism, but its very isolated so an easy target.
Thanks for the tour! That sure was a neat rock mansion. When you were at the top at the end, I felt scared! I hate heights. That was really up there! Thanks!
This place must have been so beautiful in its day! It still is awesome. So many details. It would take so much money to restore this place. But I think it would be worth it. A lot of history. And if walls could talk! 💜
Thank you so much for the tour of this amazing castle! What a shame it was not restored before it was so severely vandalized :-( ... With all the other restored mansions along the Hudson it really should have been saved... Thanks again and keep healthy and safe in your travels!
My Heart breaks to see this property just sitting here - I hope before it's too late someone will see it's beauty - - Thank you for this tour I would have never seen it if you didn't walk the walk for me... So Blessed 😪
Well done! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It had a sense of eeriness, yet comforting feel. I could just imagine how full of life the castle was at one time. How random was that to find the 1976 comic strip? Very cool
It is very disgusting that people nowadays can't leave things alone they have no respect for other people's stuff so evidently they probably have no respect for their own this was a beautiful mansion at one time. I wish all vandalism vandalist people would get caught and put in jail.
All these all books in these abandon castles would help us all so much figuring out history..my eyes get huge everytimei see them in these touring vids
Hello, Nice video. Thank you for the upload. I bought a Pith Helmet with a label "Abercrombie & Fitch" on it. Because of this helmet I checked on google and therefore got familiar with the few facts to know about the origins of this company and the men behind it. Now by "youtube suggestion" I got a look at your video and also noticed that you actually explore the dream home of this early friend of all explorers and nature lovers. (Not to say "Trophy Hunters..😁). RU-vid is a great place to aquire knowledge. Also thanks to creators such as you.
