Scotland is a beautiful country, yet many believe they must travel far to find the most picturesque views. When we browse Google Maps to decide where to go, we tend to favour locations rich in "historical landmarks" with plenty of photographs of the local area. We overlook plain, unmarked green spaces, fearing a potential waste of time in the middle of a dull nowhere, assuming everything noteworthy has already been plotted and marked.
It's a big misconception.
Here, just south-east of Edinburgh, lies East Lothian county, a mere half-hour from where I live. All places, except for the bay, are unmarked on the maps, making them nondescript for most people seeking a place to visit this weekend.
