Were those Pecan Sandies? Can I be your friend? 🤣 The desert has its own beauty and I’ve grown to love it and the high plains of Wyoming and Montana. Thanks for reminding me of their wonders!
Awesome video!!!! I live in the area and truly enjoy the Guadalupe mountains inside the cave and across the mountain tops. Have hiked many miles and seen some wonderful sights in the back country as well. BLM land is so accommodating and we are fortunate to have it available. Welcome to our state and be sure to come back.
There are cave paintings throughout the mountains that are amazing to see. I located one set in particular that a university from Arizona dated back to the basket weaver tribes that were here 1500 to 2000 years ago. Be safe in your travels keep up the good work and amazing videos.
Thank you, we keep trying different things to make our channel grow, but haven’t found “the thing” that really helps. We’ll keep trying. We appreciate your comment.
we were just there last week and really enjoyed those two parks our clover enjoyed exploring the same trail maggie explored. we really enjoyed your travel and video. be safe and take care.
We did that Guadalupe/Carlsbad visit a month ago and loved it. One really important feature that Carlsbad has is an air conditioned kennel. It gets HOT there and while people are down in the cave for 4+ hours in cool, dark cave, their dogs can be comfy and safe for a small fee. I boarded my cat there on one visit. Remember to bring the pet vaccination records, they won't take an animal without it. The last thing they want at Carlsbad is a case of rabies onsite. They are so super careful about visitors not bringing in the bacteria and fungus that will spread to bats, you can't even wear shoes you have worn in other caves.
Thank you for all the information on the kennel. We left Maggie in the van with the AC running, one of things we love about the van. But that is a really nice service they provide for pet owners.
It took us forever to get across Texas as well! We also backtracked a few hundred miles to visit some friends, but we didn’t go back in to Texas after we got to New Mexico 😂 We had a few nice free spots there too!
Don’t know where you are right now but we just got back from spending 4 months out in the South West. If you are near Willcox Arizona....go to Chiricahua National Monument....you will not regret it.
Hi from NC ... We made a similar trip to you guys a few years back ... Great trip .. If you get up a little north of Santa fe NM I recommend a side trip to Albiquiu Lake COE campground .. Its near the Ghost Ranch and a must is the drive to the "Monastery in the Desert" ... It down a 13-15 mile dirt road .. Beautiful ride with a campground on the way in .. Very much worth the trip in .. Road is good .. Be safe !!! RC from NC
Thank you for this video. It looked like it was a long walk down t through the caverns but looked fun but tiring after a while. Hope you had fun. How did you like the other park in Texas Guadalupe I think it was. Your chicken Parmesan looked good. I like veal too. But you can’t find veal too much out in Vegas. I love veal cutlets. We used to eat them a lot back home in Michigan. Maggie loves going on the hikes with you. I hope you had a wonderful Easter. Have a great night and week and see you soon!
The walk in the caverns were very trying, but so worth seeing it, the camera did not do it justice. We did not spend as much time as we should have in The Guadalupe mountains… but what we saw was beautiful, it’s one of those places that we need to go back to and explore more. We hope you had a wonderful Easter too.
Thank you for the cooking/meal segment. Loved Carlsbad (Carlsburg...lol) Caverns National Park! We were blessed to see the bats exit the cave....awesome!
Did the caverns last October after the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta ( must do at least once ) . Amazing, but wouldn't do the natural entrance again . We'd take the elevator and spend more time in the meat and potatoes area where the elevators drop you off. We couldn't get a spot at the Guadeloupe Mountains campgrounds. Some parks allow(used to ?) Overflow camping in their parking lots for self contained R.V's.. We stayed at the picnic area just over the Guadeloupe pass. Great spot once the highway calmed down. No traffic at night.
The Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta is on our bucket list. You might be on to something about taking the elevator down into the caverns because it was quite a walk to get the main part. Thanks for sharing.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle One thing you will deprive yourself of if you take the elevators is the wonderful aroma encountered at the natural entrance. I noticed that you didn't mention that in your video. Best to let people be surprised.
That chicken parm looked delicious! I’m claustrophobic so don’t think I’ll ever get to see the caves. Just you saying 700 ft down made my palms get sweaty. lol
I totally understand that, I’m a little claustrophobic too, but I never felt closed in because it was so large. However, the ride in the elevator was another story.
Love you guys. That is such a hard trip with the wind and the sun and the dry and the dust. I feel your pain. Isn't it the most spectacular scenery. Enjoy everyday in every way. I smile for you guys.
Hello! Greetings from Romania 🇷🇴 I see there an another beautiful trip, with a impressive cave. 😯 Congratulations for filming. Have a beautiful day my friend ❤️
Happy Easter. A little room to breath and chicken parmesan. It just don't get any better. Thank you again for taking us along on the trip. Happy tails and safe travels.
Hey Happy Easter you three . Nice music nice scenery and beautiful sunset. The Carlsbad Carvems National Park look awesome what I can see=from this video . Rough roads , but nice payment when travelling on them . Thank you for taking me on this journey and taking the time to make this video which I enjoyed. As always BS & BK
It was a very long walk down but you can also take the elevator down which would make walking around in the caverns alot less work. Thanks so much for watching.
Another great video. Thanks for all your efforts for photographing, filming, editing, audio mixing and posting. You get my travel itch going and you go and I get to see some out of the way places this old body cant do anymore.
I always love the Blackstone cooking segs... Happy Easter! Thanks for taking us along to the Caverns. I tried twice but my anxiety kicked in after the first 10 steps.. I'm definitely gonna try again. Happy trails!
If your driving everyday the batteries are good, but if not we do have to watch it closely. We can last several days without starting the engine and not running the AC, but that’s about it. No issues traveling with Maggie except the normal not leaving her for long periods of time… so shorter hikes. But she’s a great traveling companion.
Hey there. We are two 60’s people that just bought a revel and I don’t know what video you showed it but we love the shampoo dispenser you had in your old revel. Can you please tell us where you got it? It’s was so nice to find you guys. People our age to get ideas from. Good luck with the Ekko. Take care!
I’m not sure we could recommend the soap dispenser because we could never get it to stay on the wall. We cleaned the walls really good and used several types of tape and command strips and nothing seamed to work. I did like not have to carry shampoo and soap into the shower since there is not a great place to put it except on the toilet and it always seems to fall off from there.
I also want to ask you a question when you went into the caverns I know you left the dog in the RV With the air on, do you also stick a note to the window letting people know that the dog is OK just curious 🤔??? Because i have a 100 pound dog 😂😂
Good morning and Happy Easter. Do you happen to know where you found the heavy duty metal tongs with the wooden handles you used for flipping the chicken in this video? We have a few pair just like them and use them for cooking but also use one to stack or move charcoal around when using our Dutch Ovens. Anyway, we bought our tongs years ago - no idea where - and they are aging quickly. We’ve been looking for replacements with no luck. Thanks for taking the time to create and post weekly videos, safe travels and again, Happy Easter!
Enjoyed your video! You might be interested to know that, in the area surrounding Carlsbad Caverns, there are some one hundred "wild caves". including one that is considerably bigger and deeper than Carlsbad Caverns. But these "wild caves" are not open to the public; they are gated shut. Let me ask you something. The night you stayed on BLM land ... was that just off Highway 62/180, to the east, between the Texas border and Whites City? Does that BLM area have a name? If not, is there a road sign that identifies it at the entrance? I look forward to your next video.
Thanks for sharing the trip. Interested in a comment you made several weeks ago about flat tires. Would like to hear more. How tough was it removing the spare? Is a rear mounted spare a better idea? Thank you. Safe travels. dh
Thanks so much! We are heading out west in the fall with our dog. What do you do in your van to keep Maggie comfortable? I'm thinking of subscribing to Waggle for temperature monitoring but if you dont have cell service, that won't work. Also I know a lot of trails do not allow dogs.
We had “Waggles” for a couple of years, but there were so many times we didn’t have cell service that we ended up letting it go. But, when it did work it was a great peace of mind. With our van we are able to run the AC for a least 4+ hours on hot days. You are correct that most National Parks do not allow dogs on their trails, therefore we have to take shorter hikes in the morning or evening hours. Even with the AC running we hate to leave Maggie for long periods of times, which means we have to pass on some of the trails we would really like to hike, but she’s worth it. We also have also use extra fans to keep the van cooler, also covering the windows help too, but Maggie loves to look out the window so we usually don’t put the side ones up. Parking in the shade when possible is also good. I hope some of these ideas help.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Thanks so much! I was thinking of getting Waggle, probably will. I don't mind missing out on some trails. And we do have a generator if campground allows it to run ac. Early morning hikes and late are good ideas. Thank you so much for responding!!
Thanks for bringing back a memory from my childhood when my family took an extended trip out west and included a stop at Carlsbad Caverns. It was in 1959, I think. I remember walking down the paved walkway into the cavern and walking for what seemed like miles. The tour guide/park ranger turned off the lights (after warning us to stay put!) and instantly we were plunged into the blackest black I’d ever experienced. We were very grateful when he turned the lights back on! We made a stop somewhere deep in the cavern at a humongous cafeteria where we ate a boxed lunch. Then we rode an elevator back up top that took just seconds to go the distance that we took quite a while to cover on the way down. It was a pleasant memory and I’m glad you got the chance to add that to your memory book, too! Looking forward to your next chapter from the road. Bye bye from NW Florida
