They are amazing content creators for sure. I actually live really close to where MBMMLLC is based and hope to one day run across Jason to thank him for the great content he creates. Dan is just north of the border from where I am at as well, so maybe I'll run across him at a gem and mineral show one day to also thank him, I love his gold prospecting videos and also love when he teams up with Jason or That Camping Couple to go find different gems/minerals.

All three channels are a testament to personal motivation, hopefully inspiring others to make extra effort and achieve their goals. Jason has been in more mines than anyone else on youtube. I think the glowing rocks are willemite, or they could be a mix of smithsonite and willemite, which are often found together. Willemite is a zinc silicate which phosphoresces under uv light. Unfortunately willemite is too fragile for jewelry, so you might not get a good price for it.

I watched the vid where HeavyD went with Brent down the mine to 900 feet. I was on the edge of my seat scary. The addition of the LED light string is good. I was thinking that it would be great if Dan could see this too and then I found this vid of Dan and Jason go with Brent and it is awesome. I am sooo glad Dan got to go down the mine. What an awesome experience. I look forward to seeing the results of what those rocks are. HUGS

Hemimorphite and Smithsonite have been confused for centuries. They both were called “calamines” until the mid-1800s when they were better differentiated. Hemimorphite is basically a zinc silicate and Smithsonite a zinc carbonate. One test is to apply cold hydrochloric acid as Smithsonite will be effervescent and Hemimorphite won’t. Also the specific gravity of Hemimorphite is 3.4 to 3.5 where as Smithsonite is 4.3 to 4.5. Both have a somewhat week fluorescence. To confuse matters they both can occur together! Due to the close proximity of copper carbonates I’d say you have a great chance of having Smithsonite over Hemimorphite. Either one can be quite valuable in the collector trade! Run the tests and let us know as we are all curious! BTW…..I paid a visit to Cerro Gordo around the summer of 1974. It was pretty much abandoned then. We played around and took pictures of the area including the hoist room. At one point I climbed down the manway all the way to the bottom. About 1000 as I recall. Most dumb-ass thing I ever did in retrospect. Ah, youth!

8:39 awesome looking malachite and azurite 🤩 back to the vid… what a great exploration and yes I believe you found smithsonite the green florescence gave it away but you could do a specific gravity test to be sure hopefully one of you will do a test or three and let us know for sure. I think he’s right that, that hole appears to be the original feeder for the hydrothermal water coming up and it never finished filling the hole up that high but may have down deeper I think you should be wearing respirators messing with all those lead content rocks. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼

If it is Smithsonite I would think, because of its size and what I have seen in searching online that it would be in the 10 to 20K range! You could check its Mohs hardness, it should be around 4.5 also check the specific gravity which is also in the 4 range. It's a beautiful large and I believe valuable specimen. I am not an expert. Some of the material that had the long needle like crystals could also be fluorite. I live about 3 1/2 from Cerro Gordo, have been there before metal detecting. Awesome place, thanks for this.
