We are halfway through a crazy pack trip on the Green River and ready to do some exploring! Our green mules and inexperienced riders make for some interesting situations, but they are about to become seasoned cowboys. Running low on water, we brave the desert to do some cliff jumping, trailblazing, and river crossing.

10:03 idk who else noticed but here the palomino mule is nuzzling and rubbing his face on the hindquarters of the bay mule. Cute how it just stands there calmly while it’s buddy is rubbing or itching his face on him. 💕

Oh man, the horses I used to ride didn't do that stuff. Mine would go round and round and up and down and sometimes I could lean out and grab the brass ring. I was so proud when I graduated from rocking horse to merry-go-round.

Your horses didn't do that stuff bc you didn't ask them to. Smart. That way you don't get stranded in the middle of nowhere w/a badly injured horse or mule..

I've ridden some pretty sketchy trails in Montana, but I have to say, I don't think I could brave some of these trails. Although, I have to admit I was on a horse, maybe different if riding a mule. I love following your videos.

Love doing trailrides had a old bay horse back in the day he was actually one of my competition horses but he was rock solid wasn't anywhere that he couldn't go!!! Some cool scenery there

I have dementia now bc of head injuries. No joke! Always have an ice pack available..& use it!! Make sure your friend goes to a doctor to have his head checked out.. Unfortunately it's the only one we get!!

I love that area of the Book Cliffs! Had many a great time floating on the Green River, hiking the back country, and riding. Lived in the Eastern Utah area for over 15 yrs back in the 80's and 90's and loved it. I miss the deserts as I now live in the Southern Appalachian's of North Carolina. I'd love a mule here to ride. We've got some great trails here as well. I enjoyed many a cattle drive in Eastern Utah in the late spring and the fall. And, yes it is beautiful country, isn't it?

What did the mules do for water and feed? The salt water could not be too good for them and it looked like horse feed was few and far between.

at *13:37* what is that on the mules front legs? is it supposed to stop them from walking away? i support everything you do on your channel but i havent rlly seen anything like that before.. im not from the group of people who shouts out "animal abuse" but it looks kind of sus. is that something people do to get their animals to stop walking away? i dont do that when i go into the bush with my horses.

It’s a hobble. It makes it so they hop around versus normal walking, that way they can eat, drink, etc without having to be tied up and can wander a little bit without getting lost

12:08 why dud you make your horse jump that? Western saddles are designed properly for jumping so that just possibly pinches the horses :/

Tyler it's been a while for me and have had to deal with different things in my life. But at 73 as of 1 August I'm still kicking. Flat refuse to give up. I know I will not be able to go to your movie you have planned, but sure it will be great. If I thought my ol body would live through it, I would make it as point to come up there and meet everyone. It will probably never be, but I can still dream about it. When you take off on Pal I can honestly feel all the movement and excitement. Thank you Tyler for sharing your experiences along with your friends. Really wish I could be there just once. You know the water in that creek probably is coming out of a spring and that doesn’t look like beaver county so you won’t get Giardia, as long there’s no dead critters in the spring,I’d drink from it
