I should’ve posted a comment on here when this first came out, but you did a great job breaking down the actual story that was supposed to play out here. I rented this movie a few years back and pointed out the various gaps in the story; Santa characters just get killed off for no apparent reason. We don’t know who they are and we don’t even care. Had the filmmakers stuck with the initial storyline, perhaps it would have succeeded as opposed to the jumbled mess that it turned out to be.

I love the movie. Despite its MANY flaws, I watch it every year around the holidays. Hope you have a very merry Christmas, Cecil!

Great video, although the pronouncement of Z Cars is off, as you say Z as the letter when it’s pronounced Zed, and looking at Alan Lake, I had no idea he had such a tragic end of his life and career, the Doctor who story he was in Underworld was another production plagued by numerous issues. Firstly they managed to blow the seasons budget rather early on, so when they got to the 5th serial of the Season which happened to be underworld the money was thin, and they spent the money on the spaceship set, as such everything else being the titular underworld was blue screened in, and because of the thin budget they couldn’t shoot all the needed scenes, so the recaps were unusually long, the recap from Episode 3 is actually about 6 minutes compared to the usual 1 minute, most of which is focused on Lake as a matter of fact, Underworld is now often considered one of the worst stories of the classic Series Mark Jones however appears in The Seeds of Doom a story often considered one of the most popular stories, and was another that was experimental in its style and had one or two issues of its own, it was the third story to not do filming which was often done for location, instead it used outside broadcast to smoothly combine the very effects heavy monster, and the issue stemmed from the numerous rewrites, originally it was believed that a on/off regular at the time Nicholas Courtney would be unavailable so they created some fill in characters and other actors who played characters associated with him being Benton and Harry weren’t considered then it turned out he would be available and they didn’t have time to right them back in nor contract them as such two characters never appeared again in the series and Courtney didn’t appear again for another 6 years, although Benton appeared in a one off spin off, and Harry had his own novel written by his actor shortly before his death.

Good to see Cecil's original review on here as well (his narration in these early reviews is very mellow & straightforward; I like it as much as his current subversive, tongue in cheek style); I think it really encapsulates what Good Bad Flicks represents, and a real strong beginning. I've never seen this film, but I've never seen it around either; maybe I'll check it out some day. I mean, a film which revolves around someone killing those dressed as Santa Claus would result in a high body count, so in that way I think the concept is rather inspired.

Great exploring, as always. But the spanish BluRay is a Bootleg from the german/austrian release from "Edition Tonfilm", who made all the restauration.

I was so happy to see you come up on my feed. This movie always makes me laugh (embarrassed to say). Wonderful job as usual! I had heard all kinds of stories about Purdom and I appreciate your take on everything. You always do your research and bring so many interesting tidbits. I appreciated you adding the old Blip video at the end. I think the mask looks like Nixon, but I think all masks do at this point (except all the ones that look like Shatner LOL).

I also enjoyed seeing your original upload of this, & finding out that this was your first upload. I've read many comments online about how this film is supposedly so boring, & i'm like, WTF?? Were we watching the same film?? This flick has many flaws, as stated, in the video, but it is anything but boring. Also, I noticed that you addressed the connection that Don't Open Till Christmas, has to Slaughter High. Could this be a sign that you plan to cover Slaughter High, in the near future? 😃 I sure hope so, as it's a fave of mine, & has a very interesting backstory to it. But you still had the main shtick down pat back then. & that shtick is why I subbed a yr or 2 ago & why I continue to watch, which is presenting a "bad" movie to a (mostly) otherwise unbeknownst audience in the light it deserves, doing the proper research, & breaking it down, explaining, & showing it in a way that shows exactly how & why it is in fact a good bad flick. You sir are definitely one of the hidden gems on RU-vid, it's been a pleasure watching your subscriber count climb & you deserve any success that comes from it.
