Warderick Wells and the Exuma Land & Sea Park is one of the most beautiful places in The Bahamas if not on earth. A sanctuary for sea and land creatures that we have a chance to explore both above and below the water! Tides and even more so the currents in The Bahamas are incredibly strong and Warderick Wells is no exception as we encounter tidal flow from two different directions leading to damage to our bowsprit! Join us as we continue the adventure through the incredibly beautiful Exuma chain of islands in The Bahamas!
Live With Passion 💕

I lead wilderness trips for years and every time I took a kid on a trip it reignited my appreciation for the experience. To see there wonder and excitement would remind me how lucky I was to be there. If you see the same thing over and over you start to forget how special things are. Kids always reminded me to appreciate.

Well said Marc! Both Maki’s and my parents taught us to slow down or stop and take in the moment no matter how many times you’ve seen it. Even though we saw dozens and dozens of sunsets in the Bahamas it became a moment of “live theater” as we sat with the boys on the transom steps each evening to watch the beautifully intense sunsets and appreciate each day the amazing clear waters. Learning to slow down and appreciate the beauty in every day is a blessing and a lesson we are passing on to our boys. You’re doing a great thing with the wilderness trips! Continue to enjoy each trip and all the best! ~Andy and Maki

I do look forward to more of your sharing of day to day family adventures! I also want to comment on Maki's fishing skills and superb filleting of her catches. Excellent video. I have sailed in a catamaran Lagoon 45 and 52 for years and have opted running the bridle line from the starboard to the port cleat. The recommended way is the way you are setup, but the only time that I have been tangled was the time that I used your setup. As long as your lines are in good shape as well as your cleats you will have no problem. Also line rubbing noise will diminish and mostly no tangling when the wind changes direction and boat start spinning. Fair winds Enjoy

Hi KM I’ll ask Maki to share perhaps in a video what plants, mainly herbs she grows on board for her and our little Floating Chefs 😁 Regarding mooring balls. To date we have only picked up a mooring ball when they are well maintained by a city or marine sanctuary park. Places like Annapolis, St Augustine and the Exuma Park in the Bahamas. This doesn’t mean they are perfect but we know they are maintained regularly. That said, anytime I can put on a mask and take a look, I do. Thank you for joining the adventure!

Hi Araz, thanks for joining the adventure and your comment/concern. For the past year much of our time has been on the boat at anchor and in general away from everyone. We were still very careful in the Bahamas even though everyone traveling there must provide a negative COVID test to enter the country and then complete 14 days of monitoring via the Bahamian Health Department. Nothings 100% but we exercise extreme caution even to this day. We don’t go to any crowded places, nothing indoors and continue to use masks. We’ve been safe this far, we can certainly continue.

Great video well done. I wanted to ask how as a crew you manage seasickness and what you use on board your lovely boat. Are there medications and/or natural ways for both adults and your boys?
@sailingsvoliluki6938
@sailingsvoliluki6938 3 года назад
In general we all seem to have gotten our “sea legs” and do fine on most days. That said there have been sea conditions that have turned all our stomachs, some more than others. Staying hydrated with water is key. On rougher days we pretty much don’t go down into the cabins. We haven’t used any medications but we do have both Relief Bands and EmeTerm bands on board which seem to really help. The key is to put them on early or before departure if you know sea conditions will be a bit rough. www.reliefband.com/products/reliefband®-premier?variant=8348144795691&currency=USD&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIneLG4PPJ8QIVt2xvBB1vDQ-AEAQYASABEgIdPvD_BwE www.emeterm.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuLnX9fPJ8QIV6WtvBB1q7Au_EAAYASAAEgLqm_D_BwE Hopes this helps!

move your mooring bridle down to where the cables go. this is better for when you are on anchor and it will be under the cable for the bow spirit
@sailingsvoliluki6938
@sailingsvoliluki6938 3 года назад
Thank you for the comment and suggestion. So the bridle comes from the factory originally under the bobstay cables however this is even worse when the bridle rises with boat movement as it’s constantly hitting, rubbing and putting pressure on the cables. Since our L45 arrived, Leopard has moved the bridle to the outside of the cables so it’s free to rise however far it needs to which is how we have ours setup and has worked fine until this unique situation in the Bahamas where the current flows from to ends of the mooring field and in this case caused the mooring ball to not only travel under our bridge deck but also completely under the port hull. Just an incredible amount of water flow from multiple directions. We won’t be mooring (if we can help it) in a situation like this again. Anyway thank you so much for your comment, suggestion and concern. We really appreciate it! ~Andy

I think the poor design for the bowsprit comes down to what Leopard's primary market for their boats is, and that's the charter market. Charter boats don't fly color sails so don't need a bowsprit, and it's design was probably an afterthought. . It sounds from your description that it might happen again so maybe it's worth looking at boats like Seawind or Outremer and seeing how they rig their bowsprit and maybe change up the fitting too mirror them? I had a retractable bowsprit on my monohull. That night be worth looking into.
@sailingsvoliluki6938
@sailingsvoliluki6938 3 года назад
Thanks fir the comments and suggestions Adam. To be honest this was really the first time we had a problem. The bowsprit set up works well and it turns out is very similar or the same as many other cats out there. The current flowing from two different directions at the mooring field in the Bahamas was and is unique and now that we’ve had this experience we know what to look for in the future. Thankfully it was a very inexpensive fix and we’re back to flying the code zero! 😁
