Another great video, loved the zeolites, and it was all so a very pretty location

Thanks!! Those zeolites were in such an odd place but I searched it up and I guess they can form in granites!! Just an interesting find🙂

Now, orange, Hessonite Garnets would be something to find!!
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 9 месяцев назад
That very well could be what these are!! It'd be nice to find the source of these to send some to a lab and get an analysis on them. They must've come from somewhere nearby, just takes time to narrow down these spots🙂

Great video! I can't wait for you to go back to that beach at low tide. Hope the mud isn't too sinky. 😳I really liked the Grossular Garnet you found. Looks like a great new spot you found.

Thanks!! These Grossular Garnets are a first for me so I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I'll be able to get back out to the beach once it warms up, maybe I'll even do some camping out there!!

We get some pretty orange garnets around our hometown of Darrington, Washington. Good eye spotting that little guy. Awesome find on that quartz crystal on the gravel bar too! So many excellent finds in this one. Thanks for the adventure.

Thanks!! I'm really hoping to find the source for those orange garnets, right now I'm mostly waiting for the ground to firm up again after the thaw. You guys in Washington have some awesome garnet sites, I'd have to say vesper peak is my favorite!!

Yeah, those fan shaped crystals definitely looked like a zeolite. It looked like a stibnite i think they are called. Definitely a good find and a great eye. Most would have missed it! You can barely see them. Your identification of the various minerals is really amazing! What great finds and a great video and thanks for taking us along!
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
Thanks!! We don't usually get too many zeolites around here so this was quite the surprise, especially since it formed in granite!! I really need to look into all the different types of zeolites so I can Identify them better. I really tend to struggle when it comes to identifying different minerals within a group but lots of the time its hard to tell without an assay😅
@ericclayton6287
@ericclayton6287 2 года назад
Stibnite is antimony sulfide and presents as metallic. Those sprays may be in the Mesolithic natrolite group of zeolites. Uncommon but not unknown in granite series rock.

Read Mesolite
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
@@ericclayton6287 I think they might have been talking about stilbite which has been found in the granite faults of the swiss alps along with Laumontite. I think Mesolite has a bit more potential but its hard to tell without chemical analysis, my guess is as good as anybody's at this point haha😅

What a great day rock finding! You need to take a 3 pound hammer with you. Makes rock breaking faster and safer!
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
For sure!! I usually explore with just a little pick so I don't get too exhausted while hiking around. When I return I'll bring a bigger hammer so I can bust up those big rocks!!😁

I hope you pack some heat with when you go way out in the middle of nowhere..

All I usually carry is a can of bear spray because it's nice and light weight. I haven't really had any problems with animals, generally they'll hear or smell you from a mile away and steer clear. just gotta keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings😉

It was a very "crystally" day! The earth is so amazing the way it creates these brilliant minerals. I took a drive out a forest road a few days ago and happened upon some rocks with little pockets of tiny quartz crystals. I was so excited because there's just not much to find close to home. I'm a bit envious of your ability to scramble around on the hillsides and into the creeks, but I sure enjoy seeing what you see. And as I seem to always say, the forests, creeks, and beaches are incredibly beautiful! Thank you for taking us along on the adventure!

Thanks!! I'm really hoping to come across some more quartz out there too, Quartz crystals and garnets are two of my favorites so the fact that this spot has both is just awesome!!🙂

Thanks for the great video. Fun fact you never know when you're going to find something. I actually went on my first rock hunt today in a mini mall parking lot where they filled boulevards with stones. My wife said to me dont be that crazy guy but I actually found a quartz rock with a small pocket of terminated quartz crystals. If only I could attach a pic. You never know when you might find something. Thanks for inspiring me

Nice find!! Yea sometimes the parking lot rocks can hold some goodies!! Most of our quarries hold some super nice pyrite crystals, when I was younger I'd always be looking for them in the gravel at school and in driveways on my walk home haha😅
