yup yup, good dishes from the south. Dishes to try in Kerala: non meat: -Appam and istu (Spongy flatbread, and stew, which is vegan as its made with coconut milk, and the stew is all vegetables) There is a version with meat (the istu) -puri and sabzi (fried bread and potote curry) -the sadhya (it's all vegetarian, there are sooo many sides you can get with it, at least 30), which I think you had tried in the video -idiyappam and egg curry (it's considered to be vegetarian, this one has egg, but you can try to find a curry w/o that if your are vegan) -puttu and kadala curry (steamed coconut and rice, chickpea curry, it's not chana masala) -semiya payasam or ada pradhaman (payasam a dessert type dish, there are a few types, ones milk and cashews, there are others that don't use milk) -banana fritters/ banana puri/banana appam/Pazhampori (its plantain so it has a bit of veg protein) -Chatti Pathiri (dessert type, influenced by Islamic population) -banana halwa, or regular halwa (made of ghee and cashews, chewy in texture) -Parippu Curry (Dal Curry) and rice -Erissery (pumpkin or squash) Meat: -Kerala fish curry (its spicy, dark red in colour) and rice -Kerala chicken roast -Appam and chicken curry or istu (milder version) -Kalappam and chicken curry -Kerala-style biryani, which is more resemblance to the middle east style (mutton and chicken are the best) -Kerala Prawn Curry and nice pitari (spicy, with a rice-based really flat bread) -Prawn Fry and pithari -bovine fry and parotta -coorg or paaini curry and appam -Erachi Varuthracha curry (fried ground mutton curry)and rice -Fish molee or fish fry and rice -mussel fry/oysters and rice -Naadan Kozhi Curry (country-style chicken curry) - Karimeen Pollichathuor or kappa and meen curry (fish curry that goes with tapioca/cassava mash) -chilli beef and parotta -duck curry and kalappam just to name a few.
