ABOUT 2LANELIFE
We travel the country on our Harley Davidsons, exploring some of the best roads the country has to offer, with no end in sight. Our goal is to share all of the neat history and attractions across the back roads, aka the 2Lanes of America. Along this journey, we meet tons of amazing people, and learn something new every time. We are here to inspire travel!
ABOUT THE ADAMS HOUSE
Built in 1892, the Queen Anne-style home is well-known for its oak interiors, hand-painted canvas wall coverings, stained-glass windows, thoroughly modern 19th century plumbing, electricity, telephone service, and original furnishings.
The house sat silent for more than 50 years after W.E. Adams’ death in 1934. His second wife, Mary Adams, left everything intact, from the sheet music on the piano, the books in the library and the china in the pantry to the patent medicines in the bathroom, and even cookies in a cookie jar. The home was purchased by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission in 1992 and restored as a house museum in 2000.

ABOUT THE BROTHEL
Deadwood History, Inc. (DHI) launched its new project The Brothel Deadwood with guided tours of the Shasta Rooms or Beige door located at 610 Main Street on the second floor. The tours focus on the interpretation of the century-long history of the brothels in Deadwood.
Brothels were a fixture on the second story of several Deadwood Main Street buildings from 1876-1980. This aspect of Deadwood’s history, although difficult and uncomfortable to talk about, had a huge impact on the community. A series of eight rooms have been curated with period-appropriate furnishings to help transport the visitor to another era.
ABOUT STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA
In the early days, Sturgis was referred to as Scoop Town. There are a number of stories that persist as to why this name was used, but most are variations on a common theme. Fort Meade, originally Camp J.G. Sturgis, was established to protect travelers to the Black Hills during the gold rush years, around 1878. What was to become Sturgis sprang up to meet the needs of the soldiers and miners. The early entrepreneurs, many of them proprietors of saloons and brothels, were said to “scoop up” the money of the cavalrymen and miners. Other stories are that the early town was so lucrative and so much disposable income was available to those entrepreneurs they literally had to “scoop up” all the profit.
The very first Sturgis motorcycle rally was held on August 14, 1938. The event was organized by the town’s motorcycle club called the Jackpine Gypsies who bought and developed large tracks, hill climbs and field areas where the rally would be held.
Today, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally continues to reap the support and attendance of both participants and motorcycle fans all over the United States and in some parts of the world. In 2015, a record 739,000 attended the rally’s 75th anniversary, including entire families who came with their RVs and rode the few last miles to Sturgis on their motorcycles.

This is what bike trips are for. Don’t just ride there make it a field trip, learn about the places we ride to. You need to check out the museum in Sundance Wy. while you are in the area it is amazing history of both settlers and Native Americans.

Just loving the docuseries! You remind us all to slow down on the road and really get to know the beautiful towns we roll through. I guess you can't "shake hands with America" at 65 mph!

Thanks for the input, Michael!! We're stoked to hear that! After the Route 66 docu-series, it made us realize how much history we would normally pass right through on our way to a destination. Gotta slow down, and learn about all of those towns one by one! Shaking hands town by town! Thanks for watching, see you on the next one 👍

You Americans are masters of preserving your rich history. I grew up in the 1960s watching old west movies, and today, 130 years later, seeing such a well-preserved building, like Adam's House, is something to be congratulated on. Thanks for this tour of American culture 🇺🇸🇧🇷🇺🇸🇧🇷

Great video guys. I've been to Deadwood twice, once during the rally and once not during it. I didn't visit the places you went to on the video. I just saw the usual places, Saloon No. 10, Wild Bill's grave, etc. Thanks so much for showing the places I should have gone to and will next time. Did you get any prices for the services at the brothel? I suspect the prices have gone up just like gasoline, if it was still legal. Enjoy seeing the ladies and they seem to have a great time also. Thanks again and come to Tennessee soon!
@2LaneLife
@2LaneLife 2 года назад
Thanks for watching, Mike! Glad we could share some of these places with you, and there's plenty more where that came from. No clue what the prices would be now, but definitely not cheap haha.The ladies really enjoyed these tours! We hope to make it that way sometime next year. We'll be cruising around Kentucky in October, but likely just sticking there 👍

Good evening gentlemen, another incredible video. Out of curiosity, do you have a recommendation for a vibration dampening, or some other phone holder for the motorcycle? Thank you for your time and keep up the awesome work. Stay safe out there.
@2LaneLife
@2LaneLife 2 года назад
What's up, Jason!! Thanks for watching! As for phone mounts, Lance and Gaylin use the magnetic iOmount by Klockworks and love it. Easy on, easy off and holds strong. They don't have specific vibration dampening to our knowledge, but the guys have put a good 100k miles on them and haven't had any issues with the cameras breaking. Josh uses the Quad Lock mounting system with the vibration dampener system. 50k+ miles with iPhone 12 and 13 and no camera issues. The Quad lock locks the phone in, has compatibility with wireless charging for the phone mount itself, and the phone is locked in with a quick release mechanism to keep it on there safely. We have the iOmounts on our website, if that's the direction you choose to go. What bike are you on?

If I remember correctly, weren’t there several brothel’s on the Main Street in Deadwood? I seem to remember a Red, white, brown, purple and one other colored “Door”. They were still open in the late 70’s but when they closed the girls moved to the Howard Johnson’s in Rapid City. Cheers
