Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a RU-vid channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. Long time ago I would get to ride on Mr Hazen boat. He would take me to blue springs to see the Manatees. And also to Silver Glen by boat. Such wonderful memories I had with friends and Mr Hazen and his sweet wife.

The rain was so peaceful. Thank goodness for my bilge pump. Otherwise, I think we would have sank before we made it back to Highland Park Fish Camp. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Used to go to Highland park all the time years ago. My wife had a surprise birthday party for my 30th birthday there....that was 27 years ago.🤯Gotta get up there again. Great video, love the river in the rain.

As a kid we would load in Sanford and run to Silver Glen, Hontoon Island was always our favorite stop as they had a Fire tower you could climb and look for our other friends on the river. This was all before idle zones so it was an easy day trip. Now it might take too long. Great memories 👍

Unfortunately, they’ve extended idle zones. We love the Silver Glen, luckily we were able to go more than a few times this summer.

@KevinHillyard just an FYI fast boats will be at Camp Mack the weekend of December 9th. Band at Warehouse behind Gator Mack's Friday and Saturday night.

The cabins are comfortable . They normally have bunk beds in them and a ceiling fan for ventilation. No A/C so fall , winter of spring is the best time to go there. You can drive to Hontoon Island , sort of , you park on the main land and the ranger will come over and get you in their ferry. I was wondering what water damage they had from the river flooding everything. The rest rooms are always clean and nice with hot showers. Primitive cabin camping or tent camping and it's a quiet campground. I have had Deer walk right past me in the campground. There's also a group camping area off the main area. You can also get Ice Cream , soft drinks and snacks at the rangers welcome area. Before you ask , yes I like to camp there. By the way you missed walking to the Indian mound that's on the island so you know it's been good area to relax at for a long long time.

Thanks for the info, I’ve walked around the island before. But I don’t think I’ve made it to the Indian mounds before. I’ll have to go for a longer walk next time.

Went there a few months ago after seeing some of your vids. I liked it. Only negative were the owners dogs roam and poop right where you set up your chairs lol. I love fish camps. I would probably go again. I wanted to boat over to the pancake place but that lake is like 2 feet deep at best. Definitely want a skinny water boat for that.

I knew the lake was shallow, but I figured it was at least 6ft. I might be doing the same trip a few times in December.

Hey Kevin, just wondering have you ever camped at For Lake Campground in Ocala first time there just wondering what your thoughts are just recently started to watch your videos you guys doing awesome job keep it up

I have not camped there. I usually do dispersed camping in the forest. The campgrounds in the forest are ok, but no power or anything. Thanks for watching

I mean, I’d like him to be around a little longer. It’s not that he can’t swim, but it’s easier to lift him out of the water onto the boat. Plus it would help him from getting tired in an emergency.
