I was born here in 1967. Great Childhood memories. Step-Dad was stationed in Baumholder. The Nahe was so much nicer back in the late 70's. We loved the Winter. Sledding down Volkesberg. In the Summer we always enjoyed the Freibad (Pool) and it's sad to see it as a long lost forgotten memory of times past in another video.

Nice to see familiar sites again without stopping and thinking on what certain buildings and locations were :) Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting! B41 did bring back fond memories, we used patrolled Idar-Oberstein but that was when mostly narrow and one way streets throughout town :)

Great to see old B41 again . Like seeing an old friend from 50 years ago . Some areas are virtually unchanged and some are unrecognizable , at least to me. Going up the hill to Idar could be a challenge when it was snowing but my trusty VW never let me down . I don't remember a Gasthaus at 22:26 but it may have been before my time . To get to Oberstein from Baumholder , where I was stationed , we used a shortcut , Schonlautenbach. A great road but since it ran through the military firing range it was not open to the public . Actually we weren't supposed to use it either so please don't tell anyone . It's now closed once you go up the hill a short way . Really enjoyed my time at Baumholder and have been back 3 times since leaving the Army. Hope to get back late this Fall or early next Spring . YES we used to use that road too but did not know the name. Years ago when we came here vacation we used that road to go onto post and use the laundry near the motor pools and snack bar 2. When I was first there they were rehabbing our buildings and we were staying in Allenbach for a month or 2. I even tried to find out about the road from the Allenbach base commander...but he did not know. Video top of the rock.

I was assigned to Nahbollenbach from 1979 - 80. Like your introduction above states, I read somewhere where only the HQs building where I worked is still there. Drove on the route in your video many times and I cannot recognize anything. But thank you for making the video - and being able to see what everything looks like 40 plus years later.
