Exploring inside of this untouched abandoned house which is full of old photos and memories that have been left behind - ABANDONED ISLE OF WIGHT

This house was absolutely stacked with old photographs and documents some of which dated back over 100 years, in addition to the photos, there were piles of vinyl records, VHS videotapes, and many boxes of personal items.
It was amazing to look through it all but also incredibly sad that what must have meant a great deal to someone has ended up being left behind and will likely just end up being thrown away.
The house is located on the Isle of Wight on outskirts of Newport, the exact location will not be given and it has since been secured.
Planning permission to demolish the building and replace with 11 dwellings including a new access road was submitted in late 2017 and this planning permission was refused on the 9th of March (2018). Structurally there doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the building so it would be a shame if it did end up getting demolished.
Filmed with Sony A7Sii, edited and graded in Adobe Premiere Pro 2017.

So many items with historical value, I hope some things ended up in a museum. Would be sad to see it all thrown away.

@@AbandonedIsleofWight It's surprising that the children/grandchildren of these people didn't keep these personal things. Whoever owns the property now will probably be delighted to sell the land, rather than bring the house up to scratch for selling. When I was younger I would have been pleased to take this on as a project. Far too many houses being built on the island. The island is a treasure and should be valued.

Another superb film. This place, more than any other you have so far documented, has a tangible aura of sadness about it. A near perfect example of 'Kenopsia' - the odd feeling of a place, once busy, full of people and activity, but now empty and silent. All that stuff, just left, the records, model trains - the wedding clothes, the sight of which, for some reason, brought me out in goosebumps. Rare items, like a passport bearing a Nazi customs stamp, and the photographs, in such fine condition. I looked at the one with all the soldiers, of WW1 vintage, and thought: 'I wonder how many of those lads got back home?' Is there nobody who could collect all this material up and archive it for posterity, before time, and bored idiots find it, and destroy it? Thanks for sharing, as usual - this one actually made me feel rather sad.

Thanks Brian, looking through everything and getting a real snapshot into an entire family history was amazing but I think it's so sad that someone sold off/removed all of the items of value (furniture etc) with no one (seemingly) valuing any of the personal treasures. I was unsure of putting this video up but after months of the property being left open and accessible (someone more cynical may imply deliberately since planning permission was refused to demolish the building), there were already signs of people noticing and getting in. Fortunately, the new owners of the building have now seen the video and have apparently now secured it. Thank you for watching!👍

This is beautiful and heartbreaking. We just got back from the IOW yesterday. A quick lunch at the Boathouse in Seaview brought us by Harcourt Sands for the first time. Consequently, I have been obsessively searching the internet for info and have come to your wonderful videos. Your shots and angles and especially editing and music are simply wonderful. The ashes of these loved pets have been on my mind, I have just spoken to Pets at Rest, they would be very happy to take the ashes to their cemetery. If anyone knows who is responsible for the house please contact All Pets at Rest, Newport Isle of Wight.

my grandad and great grandad were freemasons, he left my grandmother and my father and uncle when they were 10 and 11 so dont know about his history with them well, just that they had rings and a secret handshake my Dad was taught to recognise eachother and were sort of a financial club from what my dad knows of big wigs that would pat eachothers backs. My grandfather was a big figure in agriculture in somalia during late colonial times my grandmother often talks of the dinners they would have with the somali president and was raised in India near Kashmir as his father who was very distant with him also was a bigshot out there. Always saddened me that I will liekly never know a lot of what my family on that side were and did being along line of fairly important people that i know almost nothing about thanks to my Grandfather leaving his family and hence our connection to whatever that world was and is.

There were so many pet ashes downstairs had to be at least 5 or 6 dogs + other animals, its sad that someone once loved them enough to get them cremated but they've ended up just getting left behind with everything else, thank you for watching!

My pets have all been cremated by the same person, I am sure she would be happy to take the ashes to her pet cemetery, but who would you go to get permission to remove them from the house and of course then you would have to admit to being there in the first place.

Unfortunately I couldn’t justify taking anything as I never take anything out of anywhere I explore the house has been secured and my friend took plenty of pictures of everything so I really hope that whoever brought the building does something to try and reunite the belongings with a relative... Melancholy is the word. You make beautiful explore videos mate. I'm an ovener and deffo going to check out some of these spots. Is Norris castle still accessible? I saw on another video you said it'd been bought up. Thanks for the great vids.

Thanks very much! I haven't looked at Norris for a while, sailing past it a couple of months back it looked at though they had boarded up most of the windows and a few kids got arrested up there a little while ago for burglary, it's certainly possible that its still accessible (with a bit of climbing) but I'd be careful as security may still be heightened.

There is quite a bit, if you know where to look, there is a public Isle of Wight exploration group that is pretty decent for getting ideas of places and some people on there may be willing to share locations, good luck with your exploring!

So sad to see all those memories left lying around and open to the elements. Once a happy home for a family with children and then the Great War and things must have changed? I hope the photos weren't thrown away but claimed by someone who will cherish them always?

It has been empty for a very long time and as far as I was aware it was not on the market the property next door to this is so, perhaps you are mistaken It was awaiting planning permission to be demolished and this planning permission was rejected back in March. I'd disagree with your statement about it not being abandoned as the current owner has left it in the vulnerable state you see in the video for months, prior to this video going live little effort had been made to adequately secure the property and it is an absolute miracle that it had not been ransacked, this to me clearly indicates that the property IS abandoned and those responsible for securing it have little regard for what has been left inside.
