The nostalgic red historic tram runs the length of İstiklal Street, adding to its old-world charm. Side streets branching off of İstiklal lead to more intimate neighborhoods with local specialty shops and restaurants. Overall, Taksim Square and İstiklal Street encapsulate the energy, history, and cosmopolitan character of Istanbul.
