Khao Yai is a popular weekend/long weekend destination among Thais. The weather is relatively cooler than Bangkok as it's surrounded by mountains/hills and also it's only a two to two and a half hour drive from Bangkok! Check out what's available in Khao Yai, including Khao Yai resort and food/cafe options available in Khao Yai - especially in case you want to find out: is Khao Yai worth visiting? This is our 2nd time in Khao Yai so we didn't go to the Khao Yai National Park this time round, but if you go to Khao Yai, definitely check Khao Yai National Park too!

Yes you should rent a car to go there from Bangkok. Inside Khao Yai , you'll need the car to reach places of interest as well. My husband and I drove there from Bangkok. Very quick (2.5 hours approx)!

Most probably, just make sure you have your license and don't drive without one to avoid trouble

We stayed at Atta hotel. Atta Lakeside Resort Suite maps.app.goo.gl/GXFSGnnzAtBtECJx6 The secret garden is inside the hotel complex. Call them in advance to check if the garden opens when you visit (it can be seasonal, or they might do maintenance once in a while and close the garden temporarily)

I would recommend hire a private car. Because not only that you need to have them bring you from Bangkok to Khao Yai, but also travelling inside Khao Yai need to be done by car 🚗
