Great documentary, I think you have missed the whole idea of how the film was MEANT to be made...
@free_spiritjordanlindsaybu4501
Why would going through her personal belongings matter when she sold and made millions from selling Kurt’s personal journals? Or for that matter when she was broke sell off whatever she had of his that she could. You criticize this documentary/movie yet it could have been better if Courtney hadn’t gone to extreme measures to halt any investigation into making this movie.

This documentary was released in 1998. The Journals was released in 2001. Also, I read the Journals, hardly anything new or private was revealed. Majority of the content was something Kurt had spoken in interviews and were written in the book 'Come As You Are' (1993).

I'd say 'Kurt and Courtney' is more food for thought than anything else. It was definitely sloppy, but it has some interesting stuff in it. He got that El Duce interview where a really big claim is made -- and the guy died a few days later! He asked Dylan Carlson a valid question -- if Kurt really did try to kill himself in Rome, why did you, as his best friend, buy him a shotgun and leave it with him a few weeks later? And last but not least -- he stormed the stage at the ACLU to ask why Courtney was presenting an award for free speech, only to be booted off!
@free_spiritjordanlindsaybu4501
That was awesome!

some_cretan , exactly. There's lots of tid bits in there that people who want to try and understand the whole story or possibly hypothesize the truth, would need to know in order to form a conclusion on not only the whole scenario, but the situation of Nick and his place in the doc, but the people included, i.e.: C.Love, Kurt, bandages, best friends, acquaintances, and basically anyone involved.

Hardcopy paid for a lie detector test for El Duce. It was administered by one if the world's top people. He passed not once but twice. Each time scoring above 99% of telling the truth. This is a fairly accessable fact. Tom Grant's credentials are impressive. Really, if you delve into the case, there is a ton of circumstantial evidence all pointing to murder. Check out Grant's cobaincase.com for more on this if interested. There's a lot more to this case than Curt & Courtney and this poorly produce video have shown. It's pretty interesting.

I was 20 when Kurt passed. I've seen K & C a coupla times. It's a hella 90s time capsule. The most interesting interviews are El Duce, Rozz Rezabek, and Kurt's aunt. The worst part of the movie is towards the end when they "chase after" Courtney. The movie did appear to fall apart once their funding did.

You have to appreciate Nick Brookfield and the rest of his work to understand all his narration; which is what I actually love about him. “The camera man started to have a panic attack” “the audio ran out” or when he went to interview Suge Knight and the camera man was filming the sky etc etc etc. (not exact quotes from this film and Tupac and biggie). I don’t know I love it it cracks me up and I love the eerie feeling that I’m always left with after his films. I love how Broomfield narrates and interjects himself in all his movies. It’s so unique and bizarre and how he includes narration of “fuck-ups”. It makes me lol I love it. This kind of movie is just so perfect and captures this little sliver of time. Respect your opinion but that’s how I look at it.

I respectfully disagree that this film was crap. He got a bombshell from el duce ( who was died 2 days later" ) he got an interview with Kurt's first girlfriend whom he wrote " about a girl " about. He asked Dylan a very good question. The interview with her ex boyfriend is classic & shed some light on courtney 's social climbing starting with a regional celebrity up to billy corgan & then kurt. So what he goes through her stuff , she has been exploring kurt for almost 30 years. He also was the first to put forth the courtney killed kurt theory that is pretty much an accepted fact. I know tom grant from the beginning was saying this but this film got a lot more traction. The stuff with his aunt is wonderful. The fact that courtney didnt sue says a lot. U dont buy her excuse that she is " beyond libel " if someone accuses you of murder &u Didnt do it u would be screaming mad. I think the guy started out doing a documentary on kurt & courtney & in doing so it led him to the theory that courtney had kurt killed. The fact that was not his agenda makes it interesting. Like why only a few years after kurts murder did courtney have mtv pull out of funding it ? Why does she want no part of it ? What's she hiding ? It also gave me through people who knew courtney a better idea of who she is. The ex boyfriend sharing that she was so desperate to be famous & meet michael stipe & which she did do which makes their friendship look staged on her end & not happenstance. Or that she zeroed in on this guy bc he had Local popularity & wanted to mold him into something for her benefit. Or the freind who said she is a Name dropper. Her list of " how to get famous " really makes clear why she targeted kurt. When they met she saw nirvana was going to be big & sent kurt gifts like a heart shaped box with presents. While kurt was rejecting her she went back to billy corgan , the most famous rock front man she snagged. Obviously kurt was her mark & billy was the back up plan & I'm sure she stalked kurt to have another " chance meeting " with him which finally landed her man. The fact that he rejected her for months after meeting once & she was determined to bag him.is very reminiscent of yoko when she stalked john after one meeting until she finally was successful.

I read the Journals. Hardly anything personal about Kurt was revealed. Most of the things in the Journals were things Kurt had already spoken about in interviews. I disagree with you and wonder why you are so damn angry. And the one person in the film whose credibility is questionable is Amy, the girl in Portland. But you're wrong there, too: she did "know" both of them, just not as well as she claims. Plus, it took balls to walk up on the stage at the ACLU thing and question the organization for their giving Courtney the honor of speaking for them considering her history of threatening journalists who print opinions and ask questions she doesn't like. And you equate this to a Sacha Baron-Cohen prank. Plus, who would YOU interview about this topic? And, while yes, you can't compare heroin to methadone, believe it: addicts can build up an absolutely huge tolerance for a absolutely gigantic doses of heroin. Plus, why so damn angry?
