hillenburg may have turned down the pearl storyline cause mr krabs calls her "me own flesh and blood" and said pearl looks more like her mother claiming the mother is what genes the kid gets
7:16 Not only that but Jeff Bennett voiced half of the cast in Flapjack and in SpongeBob he plays several in two Season 9 episodes. (One episode has him voice Charlton Hawkfish, The Snorkel Vendor, and the latter having him voice a fancy fish, a fish in long pants, and an old fish.)
Fun fact: Popsicles are actually named as such because it’s the equivalent of calling a can of soda a Coke. People use it as a generic term but it originated from the brand.
You could add another to this list as well. I know it sounds nuts… but there are actual drawings ON THE INTERNET that date around 1994 to 1995 of not particularly bob the sponge, but the EARLIEST known version of a modern Spongeboy/Spongebob drawn by Hillenburg himself supposedly when he was camping with his friends? This is when he first conceived the show. He was brainstorming ideas with them from what I remember, I saw them in an old article. They predate the famous spongeboy art, you can tall by the art style. These doodles are older than the one drawing everyone sites to be the first. Do a bit of digging and you WILL find these drawings. Edit. The article is called “The Billion Dollar Sketchbook”. And showcases a page of doodles from the E A R L I E S T possible conceptual stages of SpongeBob.
I was a bit confused at first cause I've never heard of this, but I just finished the article. That was really good! I 100% see what you mean with the drawings, I can even spot some Ren and Stimpy in there as well. I'm surprised nobody has really talked about this at all. Thanks for bringing this up!
@@btanman Lol I saw them there in the corner too lol. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say I’m almost certain this is the earliest art Hillenburg ever made for the character solely because there are a lot of pictures of him in glasses for no real reason… Despite him rarely using his glasses in the actual show unless it’s for the off time he’s jellyfishing. Even having a set of round glasses in one sketch, as well as them looking even more primitive than the Spongeboy sketch. There also seems to be no Hillenburg SpongeBob art LESS detailed than this. These are evident of like, someone just conceptualizing a character for the first time and drawing little doodles of them to see what works. Possible future video topic…? This may be big…
48:54 I could’ve SWORN I’ve seen this scene fully animated before, I have no idea where but I distinctly remember them meeting sandy on the surface, guys with suits find her, then she just runs off. No acorn launcher but I do remember patrick throwing up aswell. REALLY weird
Fully animated sequence doesn't exist, it's a false memory. You might be thinking of Sponge out of Water where Sandy does appear as a realistic squirrel on land but she's the size of a human.
i think its a deleted scene from the first spongebob movie. i remember seeing it as a storyboard on the dvd extras. i don't think it was ever fully animated.
Using Subnautica as background footage with just the ambient sound effects playing is so calming and serene. I loved this video! Definitely subscribing to your channel! 💜
Also Help Wanted original premise had 2 extra scenes (Squidward says "On a day like this people work" and s and p playing and hims tripping on a salad bar.
watched the whole thing thinking it had hundreds of thousands of views... dude these vids are awesome, you'll get the recognition you deserve soon! thanks for a lovely video :)
I wish they still made the gumball-eyed Spongebob popsicles. I got a box of the redesigned ones. They're not as cursed, but the whites for the eyes go all the way through the popsicle so the back is a nearly featureless Spongebob staring into the abyss. Also, they do taste pretty good.
58:03 two clarifications, 1. it's the other way around (the older, unfinished version of the night of 100 frights intro video on the BFBB disc), and more importantly, the video of that became infamous likely came from a bad dump or video conversion of the file (the latter is what is stated by the only living upload of the video shown here), and The Cutting Room Floor has an entirely uncorrupted version of the intro (mainly done due to the file being played with proper video playing tools such as FFmpeg) as part of the original version BBFB's page where it is confirmed to be from the Xbox version.
I feel like I should note in 2023 Popsicle (the company) changed the gumball eyes into chocolate candy eyes As for stealing art for some reason in the first episode of a show called the substitute Nickelodeon stole an edit of The Spongebob Movie poster from the Pooh's Adventure Wiki (how idk especially since it featured plenty of characters Nickelodeon definitely didnt have the rights to like Bullwinkle, Bowser Jr, and C3PO)
something worth noting about the deliver us series that it simply put hasnt aged very well. to me at least. while it still has earie and existential moments a lot of the humor just ruins it for me. so much of it relies on shock and in a way which is genuinley kinda upsetting like when they showed actual graphic photos of the holocaust or edited over footage of a then recent case of vehicular manslaughter with spongebob and squidward driving a boat, its kinda gross, and sort of removes from the genuinley chilling and sureal atmosphere the rest of it managed to create.
agree honestly, I really liked the intro / style of it being very abstract, but it has not aged well at all. It feels tasteless, which sucks cause as you said the surrealism is incredibly well done, but man some of the ideas and scenes just don't sit well in my opinion.
@@btanman couldnt have said it better myself. deliver us when its good is so uniquely good and unsettling and fascinating, but its bogged down so much by its attempts at edgy humor. i really wish it didnt have it. its not even just that its offensive it actually takes me out of the atmosphere of the video.
Potential iceberg content - Don't know if this is the case with other DVDs or just mine, but on Disc 3 of the collection The First 100 Episodes (US region), the episode "Something Smells" (the one where Spongebob eats the sundae and Patrick convinces him he's ugly), in the scene where Spongebob first meets Patrick after eating the sundae, the audio where he and Patrick say "I just don't get it / I don't either" plays twice, once over the scene where he says hi to a building, and the second time where it's supposed to happen. It's really weird, and even weirder once I watched the episode online where the audio is correct. No idea what would cause this, and again, if it's an isolated case or if more of these DVDs have this quirk.
27:49 There's an episode where Krabs goes out for the night, and Pearl has a girls' night. Spongebob ends up crashing it and drinking all of Mr. Krabs' homemade rootbeer. Sounds quite similar to the spicy soda idea.
I accidentally stumbled upon Deliver Us years ago. I was watching the funny YTPs, and stumbled upon it. It made me feel such dread. Like... It was genuinely terrifying. Then it kinda became tradition to watch it regularly. My brother and I would just sit down at watch the first half of it, it stops being so weird after the matrix scene, but man, what a weird video. I should go watch it again.
33:03 i really wonder if the title is supposed to reference how many people has the "OH NO, THE WORLD IS GOING TO END" shit and nothing happening. e.g the 2012 panic
No SpongeBob's guitar smh. JK, I was only hoping to see it because I found out about it recently and it bothers me. SpongeBob's guitar is a Mandela effect where people remember SpongeBob's guitar in the Goofy Goober song at the end of the first movie being a either white or purple Flying V guitar with one or two necks. What it _actually_ is is a peanut-shaped guitar with a single neck. I remember it being a white single neck Flying V, I was shocked to see it was a peanut.
It's funny to me that they had trouble with naming the fungus, considering pachycephalosaurus hogwartsia is a thing + the dinosaur genus that is just literally called Thanos. Oh, and I almost forgot scaptia beyonceae, named such because of its big fat moth ass.
17:47 …why is nobody talking about the giant sperms swimming about on the screen 💀💀, the way I had watched this video for 18 mins n didn’t even realise 😀
I think the biggest slip up of the SpongeBob Twitter account was how, after making a post about the passing of the voice actor of Barnacle Boy, they followed it up with another tweet that read "Once there was an Ugly Barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died. The End"
Just wanna say thank you because Spongebob is one of the things that helps me when I'm struggling with my mental health (anxiety, tourettes and depression take a toll on the brain), and the original ice berg video was great. The feeling I get when consuming SpongeBob related content can only be described as warm and nostalgic. Enjoy this a lot, glad to know there are others as passionate about the small intricacies of this show like me.
spongebob helped me too when i was struggling with a severe anxiety disordor and now that i am healed i love consuming content about it too. wish you lots of healing and hapiness ❤
its great that spongebob helps you and all seriously but i just wanted to say its funny because you watch it to help ease stress and i love watching these theories while high to just fall asleep too its so relaxing and comforting idk but really hope you can stay strong bro
I’m pretty sure the ‘SpongeBob Christmas Photo’ is relating to the photo in ‘The Secret Box’, where Patrick opens the box he’s been hiding to reveal an embarrassing photo of SpongeBob at a Christmas party.
fun fact: the original channel design heavily featured the [adult swim] style, but it turns out that's already a semi popular youtuber thing so I had to change it to stand out more lol
Can I just say this video warms my neurodivergent heart. I love the way you theme your iceberg video as you make each layer a deeper ecosystem that’s apart of the ocean. ❤
fuzzy's belt was probably changed to black because black belts are masters. yellow belts are given to absolute beginners who are just starting out and they have to work their way through several colors before getting to black. I did some taekwondo when i was a kid and it was like that
13:07 OHHHH that makes so much more sense. Last video you said you and your friends dislike flapjack. So I had to question your sense of cartoons, but now I see you were not raised on Adult Swim and CartoonNetwork like us cool kids.
6:13 ビキニタウンの伝説(でんせつ) in Romani is “bikini taun (town) no densetsu” if it didn’t have the hiragana above the kanji I wouldn’t be able to decipher it. Thanks to doing my Japanese lessons on Duolingo.
11:20 These are actually more of ice cream bars than popsicles, they're just made by Popsicle brand. Just like how we call flavored gelatin "Jello" even though that's the brand name and Jello makes other things besides geletin. Also those bars are still available, it's not too late. You can get them from ice cream trucks and some gas stations. It looks like even walmart has a simplified version of it now.
24:18 oh hey i learned about this in a Quinton Reviews video! One of the most recognizable enemies in this game is Mr. Snuggles, a pink teddy bear who seems in no way inappropriate for a nickelodeon game. This is unless we use the free-look tool included with the dolphin emulator so that we can unlock the camera and get a closer look at Mr. Snuggles’ box. While the image here is actually oriented upside-down as they never expected anybody to actually see this, what it actually says is, “I’ll hug you and kill you. You’ll never sleep again. I’ll kill your parents.” Always fun knowing there’s all kinds of traumatizing stuff hidden just out of view in kids games.
For that entry (and a decent chunk of them in the video), I used the SpongeBob wiki: spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_unproduced_episodes Right at the top is info about Pearl & SB's origins, with references to some discord screenshots & Vincent Waller's twitter
@@btanman I’ll try…”the tip of the iceberg - the small perceptible part of a much larger situation or problem that remains hidden.” I guess it’s hard for me to follow how we go from the tip of the iceberg and progressively more obscure and disturbing parts of the series. I’m sorry idk if that helps. Most icebergs I’ve seen/read are labeled in “Tiers” and provide more context for the “deeper” levels.
Each of the little intermission bits are supposed to follow the naming trend of getting deeper (like The Shoals -> The Trench). This vid was also a sequel to my older iceberg video, so I didn't want to just re-use the names again, and those were more common of what you'd expect an iceberg to have. The first 2 tiers are basically unrelated to the rest, it's just corrections & stuff I 100% had no idea about, so I didn't really factor them into the progression of the video. I didn't really plan out any like disturbing parts of the iceberg, cause for me I enjoy seeing the obscure stuff and less so the kind of unsettling content later on (that feels like it's more about scaring the viewer instead of providing info, at least for me), so that's prob why there's not much of an atmosphere, especially towards the end. Thanks for the feedback, I'll take it into consideration!
@@btanman no problem, I get it 😁. I probably need to watch the other 2 videos. This is like supplemental material I guess? 😁 I’m just a guy on the internet. I’m sure you put a lot of work into this. I wasn’t trying to dump on you or your work. It was just hard for me to follow.
can I just point out, I love how the interviewer asks the kid if he can put his arm around him instead of making him uncomfortable and just doing it, giving the kid a good example of consent
I know One singular spongebob-game what you should research for... but problem is that I Don't know the name of it. It's a rp-like "adventure" game where you just collect certain items to clear up stages... and that's about it. It has 3 maps: krusty krab, construction and halloween for some reason. And when you're running out of time mr. Krab will say "it's closing time" (with kinda nice animation) from the right down corner. It's very small game I know but it's probably good to include. I did see and play it from one singular computer. So... could you research and include it if you can? (This topic can be pretty unknown)
