I live in HK, but far up in the north new territories. For me its a much better standard of living, we got a 3 level house with 21k sqf for $18K. I know i would rather comfort and space than to live squashed up in the city, for me there is no advantage to it. HK is a small place if i want to go to the city i can get there in 35 mins.

I do agree the New Territories is definitely a good option! I had some friends that lived in Yuen Long and Fanling and it was super cheap for them and still not too difficult to get around. Personally, I enjoyed the convenience and the atmosphere of being in the city centre.

Bro, this is such a good find. For 5500 I was expecting those coffin homes that have literally zero space beside a single bed, but this is dare I say generously spacious for the price. My MBA dorm room in Clear Water Bay was smaller than this and I paid more!

For HK prices that's a very decent price, well done for finding it

Im paying $7900 for a 200sqft studio with balcony in Tuen Mun, it was completely new when I moved in including washing machine and fridge etc, gym room and swimming pool downstairs, few minutes walk to beach, disadvantage is remote to city centre and need an hour bus ride. My last studio is similar like yours, $6900 in North Point , have a small kitchen but toilet and bathroom without separate, it was horrible, always stuffy and moldy. I think your room is a good price with that layout even there’s no kitchen.

Hi mate, hope you’re well! Firstly thank you for a very informative video. Secondly, I have a random question for you. How long did your visa take to come in? I’ve just applied for the working holiday visa a couple weeks ago and hoping for it to be in by the end of this month as i fly out soon. Also i work in Greggs at the moment so if you’re still over there ill bring you some steak bakes lad

Hello Dan! Thanks for all the support man I really appreciate it! In regards to the visa mate I got a sponsored work visa from my company so things might be different but from what I know visa processing times are around 4-6 weeks from the date of application (This was last year's times however so this may have changed). If you're not able to get it back in time an alternative option some people do is to enter Hong Kong on a 30 day tourist visa (Can't Work) then when your Visa QR code has arrived you can take a coach or ferry outside of Hong Kong to Macao and then catch it back to re-enter Hong Kong on your Working Holiday Visa. (The caveat is that you need to make sure that you receive your Visa as a QR code in an email and not delivered to your UK address as you will then need to get it sent to Hong Kong before you make the trip to Macao. Also I'm not an expert at all on the Hong Kong Immigration laws so I would definitely do some research before taking this option or contact someone in HK immigration to confirm that you can 100% do this method. I can't guarantee that it will work or that you can do it at all but I have known people do similar things in the past). Hope this has helped and like I say if you do explore this option just make sure to double check as I can't guarantee that it will work. Most of the people I know who have done it normally do this the other way round and leave HK for Macao at the end of their work visa to then re-enter with a tourist visa. So I'm not entirely sure if it works the other way round. If you have anymore questions just let me know I'm always happy to help! Haha bro that would have been the best gift in the world but I'm back home now but I appreciate the thought man! Hope you have a safe trip to Hong Kong you will absolutely love it!

@jakecoopertravel

It's so expensive, especially when it comes to hotels! It's definitely a lot cheaper to rent a place for a longer period of time, However contracts will normally run for between 6 to 12 months.

Racism and discrimination against non Chinese is a serious problem in Hong Kong. Walking down the street, you will notice no racial diversity in the work place. These types of channels are an injustice to the real situation. An uneducated man talking about a city he barely knows anything about. He needs learn more the reality of living in Hong Kong. Bangkok has a more international feeling and cheaper.
