The F R Berry reserve was recognised for its high conservation values in the early 1960's and covers an area of 214 hectares (529 acres) and is the largest of the City of Swan's nature reserves.
Several vegetation communities exist at the reserve including Jarrah, Marri and Wandoo woodlands, Melaleuca (paperbark) fringed creek lines and granite outcrops containing a great diversity of species. The area also provides a valuable habitat for a wonderful variety of our Western Australian fauna inclduing the Honey Possum, Mardo, Gould's Monitor, Bobtail, Westerh Green Tree Frog, Weebill, Splendid Fairy Wren, the migratory Rainbow Bee Eater and the endangered Carnaby's Cockatoo.
The reserve is also home to several species of rare and priority flora, some of which are unique to this place and do no occur anywhere else in Western Australia or in the world.
Along the trail are photos of some of the fauna species that you may be fortunate enough to view on your walk .
Trail maps are also available from the Swan Valley Visitors Centre in Guildford or visit www.swanvalley.com.au
