Old Pasadena is the downtown historic business district of Pasadena, located just ten miles from downtown Los Angeles. The main street through Old Pasadena is Colorado Boulevard, which used to be part of the historic Route 66. Today Old Pasadena is a 22-block vibrant and lively walkable neighborhood with tons of restaurants and shops. For the most lively time in Old Pasadena visit on a Friday or Saturday evening. Looking for quick eats? Check out Dirt Dog for their bacon wrapped hot dogs!

The main attractions for most tourists would probably be the Huntington Library and Norton Simon Museum. Possibly go walk by Altadena Middle School and have a laugh.

Hey Chris, one way I've learned to save a lot in parking in Pasadena is to park for free all day in the nearby light rail Gold Line stations and take a 5 min train ride into Pasadena for just $3.50 per person round trip ! I usually park in the covered lot at the Sierra Madre Villa station.

Hi Chris. Thank you for the great walking tour. It's wonderful how they turned those industrial buildings into a nice business and shopping area.That is an impressive city hall building. I guess with that type of car, he doesn't mind paying a parking ticket. LOL. Take care.

Fun, quick tour, Chris. I live not far from there. There's a lot more to see in Pasadena on future visits, such as the Pasadena Civic Auditorium where they tape "America's Got Talent," and Doc Brown's mansion and garage workshop from "Back to the Future." Both are very impressive. There's even a cool little restaurant not far from where you were walking that, in the mid 1800s, served as horse stables for the China Palace marketplace, and in the early 1900s was a hangout for Hollywood A-listers. Tunnels below the restaurant were once used as an opium den. So much cool history in Pasadena. Happy holidays to you and yours, Chris!

Is the restaurant you're referring to the Old Towne Pub?
@reedberry

@@chewybunz No. Edwin Mills by Equator on Mills Lane.
@chewybunz
@chewybunz Год назад
@@reedberry Ah! Now that you mention it, I think the Old Towne Pub space was a stable for horses of the PFD. Beyond that, quelle coincidence! A few months ago, I conducted an Old Town Tour for Pasadena Heritage, and I stood in that alleyway discussing the dark chapter of the Chinese Laundry Fire. And I know that restaurant well. Used to enjoy their Tuesday Happy Hour specials years ago, but I think it was just called Equator then. I'd never heard about Hollywood stars hanging out in Pasadena. What was the restaurant called back then
@reedberry

@@chewybunz Not sure what it was called back then, but I like that place. Good food and fun, casual atmosphere.

I've sat a long the parade route on the sttreet and in the stands. I've sat right under the KTLA booth and eye to petal with the big rose on the wall of the Norton Simon Muesum. My mom and I years ago spent an hour in the Norton Simon Muesum looking at the paintings and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. Everyone stops in their tracks when the stealth bombers fly over There's a wonderful children's museum in Pasadena right across from the Rose Bowl called KidSpace. I know about it because I went there on field trips when I was an assistant preschool teacher. The Spunky Princess will love KidSpace, there are so many interactive things to do there. A little Parade broadcast history, though Macy's Thanksgiving day parade was first broadcast was on radio 📻 before the dawn of tv, the Rose 🌹 Parade first tv broadcast predates that of Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. The first Roae parade was broadcast on new Year's day 1947 and was the idea 💡 of KTLA's station engineer Klaus Landsburg who was a refugee from Germany 🇩🇪. Funny after the parade antidote, my mom and I were walking back to our car after the parade ( my mom had parked on an out of the way side tree lined residential street), we walked by the Pasadena location of the Cirdon Bleu cooking school on Green Street and they had a menu from New Year's Eve postef on their door. I stopped to read it and when I got to the price per person ( yup you read that right per person) , I exclaimed $150pp my mom was behind me and said what did you say , in the a parent says it when their child has said something really out of bounds. The way said it made me jump . 🦘 I told her to look at the menu and she understood my reaction. We laughed about that for a couple of weeks.

Sounds like you've had alot of good times in Pasadena! And yes. The Spunky Princess has been to Kidspace and did have a ton of fun!

Love going to Pasadena and its starting to become a destination with a lot of music festivals being held on the Rose Bowl property. Will be going for my second time this may for a music festival. Definitely feels a lot of cleaner and safer than rest of the Los Angeles area (not offense to LA, love the city).

lol thats neither a ferrari or lambo, its just a vet, dont let Pasadena fool you, theres really nice parts and really shady parts, just because it looks clean or safe, doesn't mean it is, any part of LA can be very dangerous. I would only live in certain parts of Pasadena or in beverly hills, & bel-air, If I had the $$$
