Love Love Love Beaufort! Was stationed there while in the Marine Corps in the early-mid 80's and went back literally the week that Covid lockdowns started in March of 2020. Wish I would have just stayed there instead of coming back home! My son was born at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort also. Place will always hold a special place in my heart!
I used to live in Savannah many years ago and I spent lots of time on Hilton Head and in Beaufort. I really love the town. For some modern history of the town, the late award winning author Pat Conroy lived in the area. Many of his famous books were set in Beaufort or the films made of them were shot here including "The Great Santini" and parts of the movie "Conrack" which was the film version of his first book "The Water is Wide" were also filmed here. It was actually set on Dafuskie Island that you went past on your way north from Savannah up past Hilton Head. Also the film "The Big Chill" was shot in Beaufort as well. Parts of "Bagger Vance" and "Forest Gump" were also filmed here along with other films. It's been awhile since I have spent time in Beaufort. I greatly miss it. I need to get back there because some of the eateries you have visited in both stops in Beaufort that look really awesome, did not exist since my last visit.

We stopped in Beaufort for a few hours to grab dinner with a friend, but we definitely need to go back! Especially to get those donuts and grilled cheese 😍😍😍. Love all of the history you shared!
