@@FindingGinaMarie No, don’t take it the wrong way please, it’s normal not to know these things, my intent was to help with the pronunciation the past, present and future travellers if possible, because of a funny experience I had many years ago when my German friends visited me in Romania. They came by plane and after landing they decided to buy train tickets to my city instead of renting a car because it was so much cheaper and carefree. Because of them totally mispronouncing the name of the city of Baia Mare at the ticket counter, they were sold tickets to a touristy small town with a similar name, Băile Amara - hundreds of km apart . 😃😃😃 Long story short I kept in mind ever since the importance of pronunciation when asking for directions or tickets in a foreign land 😀 and most of us need to do that at least a couple of times during a trip. 😃

@@FindingGinaMarie based on your experience, I think when we finally make it to Romania (and Brasov specifically), we will have to plan on being in Brasov for at least a few days, or even up to a week, in order to explore the city as well as the surrounding area. I even marked the hotel you stayed at. What a gem, and very affordable from what I can tell. Romania has definitely moved up my list, and something tells me I just may have to create a small-group tour for that region because what there is available with mainstream tour companies is far too expensive and don’t really get to the heart of the culture the way places like these do.
@FindingGinaMarie
@FindingGinaMarie 8 месяцев назад
Just in case it wasn't clear, the hotel we were in was in Sighisoara, not Braşov. Braşov was the city where it was raining, so we didn't have much footage from there. Personally my favorites were Sighisoara and Sibiu of the places we visited (and of course the Transfagarasan Highway). Note that the highway was a long day of driving, but it was very worthwhile! I can't imagine how lovely it would be on a clear day! And if you can find some less touristy places to eat, it is even less expensive. One of our viewers had given us some tips and mentioned that a single-course meal shouldn't cost more than 35 lei. We paid a good bit more than that, but we weren't searching for deals. -Judy

I’d love to go on this trip in April but it looks like they only take a minimum of two travelers per booking. Do you know if they ever make exceptions?
@FindingGinaMarie
@FindingGinaMarie 7 месяцев назад
They may be willing to do it as a private tour, but it likely would be much more expensive. However, April is a long time away and there's plenty of time for others to join a tour on the date you're interested. Perhaps you could ask to go on a waiting list for the day you're interested in. We ended up booking our trip only a few days before the tour. And don't quote me but I think it was offered three or four days that week, so as one filled up, we applied to another and then another. I think if you book a month or two in advance, your likelihood of getting the date you want is much more likely. Good luck! Also, just want you to know that the tour we took was a derivation of the tour we linked. For whatever reason, our guide gave us the option of combining the Transfagarasan with the other stops and skipping a monastery that originally was on the trip. Also, here's another episode from Romania if you are interested in it! -Judy Impressions of Bucharest: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N9YVdPyjaAA.html

I'm watching your 'packing' video from 8 months ago & figured if I put this comment there, you might not see it? Kevin was considering a 3rd pair of pants (jeans & slacks) something that's been so useful for me is a pair of nice sweats, not adidas stripes down the legs & not tacky 1970s baggy Haynes style, but sharp clean navy or black sweats, which almost look like slacks. I used them for lounging in the hotel room & also for exercise walks when the weather is too cold for shorts
@FindingGinaMarie
@FindingGinaMarie 8 месяцев назад
Thanks so much for reaching out and for this recommendation. We get updates and look at all our comments, Brian! It's sometimes harder to see replies when they are to others, but comments directly to us are easy for us to spot, regardless of how old a video is. We actually will have an updated packing video coming out in a month or so. Currently Kevin has two pairs of what I'd call "tech" or travel pants that are quick drying. We both have ditched all of our denim because it's heavy and takes forever to dry. We both actually have shifted almost exclusively to wool (he buys from Wool&Prince (except for his pants). He's actually done fine with just those two pairs of pants so far. Do you have a brand that you would recommend? We are trying to avoid as much super cold weather that we can because parts of this year were brutal for us! Thanks so much for watching! -Judy

It's a shame people still insist on feeding bears in the wild. They are training them to become reliant on humans for easy access to food, which draws them toward where humans live. Eventually a bear will hurt someone and they will have to kill it.
