A nice piece of nostalgia for me as I used to climb across these rocks and have so much fun with my brother in the 1970's lol. My mum always bought these huge round shortbread biscuits from.a bakers in the pantiles. Good memories 😊

Thank you so much for your travels. I was born in Tunbridge Wells and lived there for 66 years until we moved to Wiltshire 9 years ago. All of the areas you visited were all areas of the town that I have either lived in or travelled through daily. Cumberland Walk was where one of my aunties lived, as for the rocks, my children spent all of their summer holidays, playing on them, as I did as a child. To us they and the Pantiles are just places that we used daily.

Trust me, there are golf courses, and walk paths in the woods, right around where this ramdom rocks you came across are, plus a wine hotel with SPAS, and some time ago, the commons used to be for the locals to have an open air area and go dog walking or just go for walks, Day to day life can be charming in Tunbridge Wells. I used to have a lovely view out my window, in 43 Madeira Park. You may go raspberry picking and there is a theatre nice venues around there. 🥰 The train and also the antique train ride plus other venues, Groombridge and so on are so nice.

Good video 👍 I am from Tunbridge Wells. In fact, we lived in Rusthall, a sort of large village and suburb, only 1 mile from the main railway station. Next time you're in Tunbridge Wells, be sure to visit High Rocks., about 2 miles west. If you were impressed with the Wellington Rocks, you'll be gobsmacked by the High Rocks, once home to neolithic peoples. In fact, you can reach it by the Spa Valley Railway, which has its main station near the Pantiles, shown in your excellent video.

Thanks Francis! We have read about High Rocks it looks great so definitely on our list to visit soon, thank you for recommending.

I lived in T.W. for over 40 years and never heard a local call it Royal. I think it`s something people not from the town say incase they feel they will upset locals, by not saying Royal.

Denver has been my hometown for the last 19 years, but I was born and raised in Tunbridge Wells. I spent most of my childhood on Wellington Rocks, Toad Rock and High Rocks

Definitely check out high rocks down the road where the rocks are even bigger. Groom ridge place is nearby where there is the only zedonk (zebra crossed with donkey). The spa railway is nearby too which is a nice steam train (not too expensive either)

Arrh you two missed Mount Edgecumbe Hotel and Cottage- 2 mins from the Wellington Rocks and you could have had a cold beer in the hotel caves! I was brought up in TW and lived in Mount Edgecumbe Cottage with my brother and 3 sisters. We spent hrs of our childhood playing on the Wellington Rocks and playing top rock on the highest rock. Have a walk to Dunorlan Park with the boating lake 5 mins out of town, The Opera House for another beer as now a pub, The Beau Nash Pub on Mount Ephraim and look at the view over TW-.5 mins from the top of the town. You will also see more rocks - see Gibraltar House with the massive rock outside. The High Rocks are great but out of town. Toad Rock is in Rusthall worth a view. I had an amazing childhood in TW. Enjoy x

I'm sure your California days are already filled, but if you are going to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park there is a site that is a "supersized" Wellington Rocks. It's known as Hidden Valley. Has interesting history and was an early S. California rock climbing destination. Enjoy your trip!
